splinter cell

I gladly will... Splinter Cell is Tom Clancy's new game. Although many of his previous games relied on weaponary and firing, Splinter Cell relies more on stealth and agility. The graphics for this game are superb. I've never seen such incredible graphics, and the way that your surroundings can help you surivive is great. I mean, you can shoot out lights to walk around in the dark with nightvision goggles, your enemies cannot see you in darkness. So basically darkness is your best friend in this game. Although one thing that I personally don't like is the amount of ammo you get during the game, ammo is extrememly hard to come by. The gameplay works so well, and nothing glitches, this game is very smoothe. The sounds are pretty decent. You can pick up a can, and throw it to distract an enemy and shoot him. The can makes a sound just like a can. I personally like the game quiet well, although I had to get used to the idea of ammunition rashioning.

That's just a little summary of a large one that I could do if you want....

You could go to Splinter Cell's offical website...

I'll get some screens if you want.....

I just bought the game yesterday.

Suffice to say, it blows away Metal Gear Solid 2 as a video game. When playing, you'll get missions briefs every now and then when an important event occurs, but they will be in the top left-hand corner of the screen and won't interrupt your progress.

Be forewarned though, this game is significantly more difficult than Metal Gear Solid 2 and relies even more heavily on stealth. Action not only takes a back seat, but is heavily discouraged. There is very little ammo and medical packs, so it's vital to stick to the shadows and creep up on enemies. At least the game provides a number of save points throughout the level. I used them on a few occasions.

I was really impressed with the number of actions at my disposal though. It's possible to pick up objects such as cans and bottles and throw them to distract enemies, do a split between two close walls, interrogate people, hug the walls, crouch and creep, hang from ledges, slide down poles, climb fences, and pick locks. Plus, it's actually important to hide enemies, because if their bodies are discovered, alarms are set off. For some missions, triggering even one alarm means game over.

The graphics were amazing as well. The cloth and lighting effects are of particular note. Most people know exactly what to expect, but I'm very pleased that the lighting effects aren't just for show, and they are prominently featured throughout the game.

I definitely recommend this for any game starved Xboxers.

I thought Metal Gear is far superior. The game is mediocre. I would've like to have seen a little bit more of a lighter atmosphere, instead of it being very dark. I don't think darkness goes well in spy games, but that's just my opinion. :)
I don't know about all that. Metal Gear Solid 2 reminded me of an interactive movie. Instead of tactical espionage action, I felt that the game delivered emotional soap opera distraction.

If anything, I love creeping in and out of Splinter Cell's shadows. It truly demonstrates what infiltration should be in a game. Unlike Metal Gear, you don't get away with tripping alarms and being sloppy. The enemies seem to think and react too.

The only problem I really have with the game, is that for some reason or another, it seems a little PCish. But, I won't deny that this is the most atmospheric game on the Xbox.

I want to play a game, not watch it! :) I watched the reveiw on Extended Play earlier today and that game looks bad ***. You get to use your legs to climb up two walls, I don't really know how to put that. :p If your into shooting a bunch of people, don't get this game though. The object is to not be seen. If you fancy sneaking up behind someone and sneaking past lighting, This is for you. I may just have to buy an X-box now.

Hasn't there been two Tom Clancy games released recently? what's the other one? Splinter Cell sounds like a very good game. However, I agree with TheDarkOtaku, and that too much darkness can ruin a game, but too little can make it seem to realistic. Stealth games are hard games to create, but I think this one could be near perfect!
Can one of the game's owner please inform me about the weapons, and how many ways are there of killing people with your bare hands? Also, What is your main objective in the game, i.e Metal Gear Solid - Prevent the launch of a nuclear missile.

I also would like to know what sort of arsenal I will be packing when I get this game for Christmas... I want to strangle enemies with wire!I want to have many martial arts combinations! I want to kill with the grace, skill, and brute force!

I must agree, the graphics for this game are the best i've seen...ever. I want to play this game so bad! Two more weeks till Christmas! Two weeks!

The plot of the game revolves around the Georgian president. I haven't progressed too far into the game, but I'm sure I remember uncovering information regarding nuclear weaponry. It's nothing too original, lol.

Now, I can assure those of you who are expecting a wealth of weapons, that you will be sorely disappointed. Thus far, I haven't used anything too extravagant. This isn't James Bond: Mr. Kiss Kiss, Boom Boom.

To be sure, most of the game requires that you sneak in the shadows and dispose of the enemies swiftly and silently. So for the most part, you will place enemies in a choke hold, drag them into the shadows, and deliver a blow to their head with your gun. Occasionally, you will be required to interrogate your enemies by pressing the "A" button, or you'll need to force them to operate a retinal scanner.

I can't stress the importance of hiding your enemies well though. In MGS2, this feature was a novelty. In Splinter Cell, it's vital. If you don't hide your enemies well, alarms will be triggered, ending certain missions.

The only weapons I've used so far, are a standard silenced pistol and a flash grenade. Of course, you still have the standard arsenal of kicks and punches as well, but the game is about strategy more than anything else.

One area has you infiltrating a builing through the kitchen. You have the option of sneaking out of the room unnoticed, or throwing a glass bottle, thus distracting your enemies giving you the opportunity to slink over to the light switch. Once you flip it and slide the night vision goggles on, it becomes quite amusing hunting the sitting ducks.

Perhaps you'll expand your arsenal later on, but because killing isn't encouraged in the game, I doubt it'll rival the likes of MGS 2 in that area. It's quite important to conserve bullets in order to take out surveillance cameras anyway.

On the way back from Laser Quest today, me and my friends popped into Computer Exchange (a game exchange shops), and we started playing games on the big screens. While my friends play Dragon Ball Z, Mario Party 4, and Virtua Fighter, I started playing Splinter Cell. I found it amazing, and extremely realistic. I don't know how far through the game I was, on the Police Hospital, or something along the lines of. Within 5 minutes, I had so much action my palms were sweating. Jumping up and grabbing ladders, dropping down through trap doors, climbing up pipes, swinging over fires (sometimes not succeeding  ) and sliding down a wire, like a zipwire, from one building to another.
I will DEFINATLEY be buying this game. Strangely enough, a television advertisement for it just shown. i am even more in love with it. I would describe it as a cross between Max Payne and Metal Gear Solid, from my 30 mintues gameplay that I got. Takes a bit of getting used to, but doesn't every game?

Well there are a few Tom Clancy games, but there are probably more than what I can remember. There is the Rainbow Six series - Rainbow Six, Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear and a new one coming out which looks pretty decent Rainbow Six: Raven Shield (could be the one your thinking of). Also there has been The Sum Of All Fears and another game called Ghost Recon, but not forgetting of course Splinter Cell!

I suppose darkness can ruin games yeah, but thats where the night vision goggles come in. Stealth games are pretty challenging and there is a little prelogue thing at the beginning of Splinter Cell which is useful as I never read the instructions lol. I haven't really started playing the game so I don't know the plot and all I know is you can have a pistol and you can fight with your hands, but its best to strangle people and then clomber them over the head.
It does remind me a bit of Metal Gear Solid apart from the fact it's vital on this you don't get caught on MGS it's just a pain if you do.

So far I rate this to be a brilliant game for the X-Box and people with PS2s can wait for it's release on the PS2. :tasty:

Yeah I know he's an author, but also he has a few films under his belt as well including The Hunt For Red October, Patriot Games, Clear And Present Danger, and The Sum Of All Fears. Tom Clancy's quite a class act to tell the truth.

I don't though if Splinter Cell is based on a game I don't think so, but his alternative history novels and the Red Storm games, that the Rainbow Six franchise was a dual book and game project if that makes sense lol.

Splinter Cell is a very good game and i hope it does save the Xbox because i have only just got one and i dont want it to fall like the dreamcast did and splinter cell relies alot on stealth agility and timing especially when u are out of ammo or don't have a weapon. I also wonder if Xbox live will save the Xbox??

As I was saying I think the X-Box will be saved, but I'm not sure if Splinter Cell will help out for too long. The fact that PS2 owners know that Splinter Cell is coming on the PS2 soon, that won't make them go out and buy an X-Box. There are several other things about the X-Box that would though. In return for Splinter Cell I'm sure we will recieve loads of games the PS2 have. One I know for a fact is Metal Gear Solid 2:Substance :excited:.

Listen, why are you two speaking about Christmas sales, and PS2's in this Splinter Cell thread, in the Microsoft forum. It doesn't stop you two owning both a PS2 and an Xbox though does it?
Splinter Cell is amazing. I brought it today, and i find it very hard. I am actually quite stressed with it now, because I want some action!

I would but I don't have a scanner of any type to be able to get the screenshots from my magazine on the computer although there probably is sites with images and information. From what I hear the level I've seen images on will be the first of many levels able to download, but you need copy of the game to do it (incase you didnt know). There isn't much detail on how the downloaded levels will fit in with the game itself, the only details given or well shown is that Sam appears in a naval seeting and features infiltration of a nuclear submarine. :)

I doubt that has anything to do with the game itself it's just extra levels. Has anyone else got any information on it?
