Catholics have seven sacraments, most Protestants have two, the Lord's Supper is interpreted differently, there are some differences in how to baptize, and a few things seen differently in the Bible. Justin
I only know a few differences, but I'll explain what I do know: Catholics- Sara explained that one about as well as it needed to be. I must hand it to Catholics, they've been working on reformation very well(in spite of the scandals) in the past years. Prostestant- I really don't know much about them. I know they don't like Catholics, that's about it. Baptists as a whole- I know they don't believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit as thouroughly as Penecostals do, so they don't have the speaking in tongues, they laying on of hands, the raising of hands...or generally anything that 'Holy Rollers' do. All forms of Penecostal- This is the crazy church, lol. This is where they often have the blessing of the Holy Spirit(ie.; speaking in many tongues, falling out, prayer cloths, raising of hands, prayer lines...all that good stuff). This is the most filling kind of church I've ever been in. Those are all the different types I really know anything about. The different denominations of those mentioned above just have certain different doctrines and beliefs. Most only differ in a small way, it just depends. I really wish the Christian Church as a whole would unify, but that wouldn't settle with most folks. I personally wouldn't enjoy it unless it were Penecostal, so yeah, lol. Anyway, as for the original topic: I don't agree with witchcraft at all; Wicca or anything of the like, I dislike it all. Now, if your practice that, it's your business, I won't bother you about it unless you ask me to; but I don't agree with it or it's practice at all. -Justin
Makai Kite
First of all, unless you could stop time when you got there and that girl could save just that one relative or everyone, and then get back with everyone. How are you going to fit all of those people in a time machine? It seems impossible and implausible to me. And about Wiccas: they sound even cooler than they did to me before. Thanks for the info, Lalaith Ril.
TheShinje
While I know that all denominations will not be unified until we get to glory, I have a passage to share with you... I appeal to you, brothers in the name of our lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought ( 1 cor 1:10 NIV) This is clearly what the bible thinks of denominations, and seperation in the church, did we miss this little passage here people? (speaking to anyone who believes in denominational superiority) anyhow, I don't believe in witchcraft, however, I wouldn't bash anyone who did, however I expect to also be able to give my opinion, which i have been able to do quite nicely here, and i thank you. Also, keep in mind that most christians do not hate people who do witchcraft, hollywood movies and the media have blown that way out of proportion IMO. Trust me, we don't burn witches at the stake ;)
Originally posted by Justin Baptists as a whole- I know they don't believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit as thouroughly as Penecostals do, so they don't have the speaking in tongues, they laying on of hands, the raising of hands...or generally anything that 'Holy Rollers' do.
As a baptist, i disagree, while we may not roll around the floor, overpowered by the holy spirit as the Pentecostals are, we do believe in gifts of the holy spirit and speaking in tounges, we just had a sermon on tounges a couple of months ago. As a former catholic, Another difference is that catholics answer to the pope, wehras I believe that God doesnt put orders through the pope, also, the bible I have says that angels do not want woprship, with the exception of one, but catholics believe in praying to angels, also they believe in praying to mary, the mother of god, this is why i got out, to me it was just a feeling of wrongness, not saying it is, it just felt that way to me

The point is that we're not supposed to. ;)
Originally posted by S@bretooth As a baptist, i disagree, while we may not roll around the floor, overpowered by the holy spirit as the Pentecostals are, we do believe in gifts of the holy spirit and speaking in tounges, we just had a sermon on tounges a couple of months ago.
Yeah, it's more the Catholics and Protestants, in my limited experience, which have a slight lacking when it come to the Holy Spirit. However, having said that, I know that there are at the very least, a few Catholics out there who aren't actually so bad. More about Catholics in the next point ;) I'm technically Anglican (Protestant), but I try not to limit myself to a denomination. Our particular church is brilliant- we have people of all sorts of denominations there, and we encourage absolutely anything that the Holy Spirit may want to do. Granted, not a lot of rolling around on the floor happens, because most people don't feel comfortable to do it, but at some Protestant-hosted Christian events, it happens. The only problem with rolling around on the floor and stuff is- a lot of the time it is God doing it. But at the same time, there's a lot of rolling around which is just a case of copying something which looks cool and seeing if you get anything out of it. So yeah. I don't discourage anything, but you should be wary of those who just want to look like God is doing something to them. If so, then it's probably not God. God only works in those who want to be worked on inside, rather than as a performance of sorts. At the same time, a lot of it is genuine, so you should really pre-judge any particular action, either. This is only second- possibly third hand info though, so don't take it as absolute truth. Either way.. Praying to Angels and to Mary defeats the whole objective of Jesus. He came so that we could be unified with God and have a direct connection. It also directly goes against the first commandment: "I am the Lord your God... ...Worship no other Gods but me" Prayer is a form of worship, whichever way you look at it, so praying to Mary, or Angels is directly against that.
