Hey I was wondering if any of you have read any of the Dragonlance Series. Personally I really like the series and its probably my favorite series.
:D

So if you have read any of them which one would be your favorite? My favorite would probably be the Annotated Chronicles by Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman.

If you have a favorite then tell me why its your favorite. I like the Annotated Chroicles because its the main story about dragons coming back to the land both good and evil. This starts a war which an unlikey group of companions fight.:p

I'm currently reading DragonLance: Dragons of Winter Night II. It's the only book I've read so far, but I own two of them. I haven't read the other one, yet. I think it's called DragonLance: War of the Souls or somethin' like that. Gaw, I can't wait to get the rest of the series. ^^

Back before the dawn of time, before today's ubiquitous World Wide Web was just an idea in the stormy mind of a young Tim Berners-Lee, there was a little pen and paper concept called Role-Playing Games, dominated by the father of RPGs, Dungeons and Dragons, or to be more precise the more popular and detailed version, AD&D (A for Advanced). Back in the 80s, at the beginning of the personal computer age, when 64K RAM was considered more than enough, and the hottest things in the arcades were Space Invaders and PacMan, AD&D was quite popular.

There were a series of 'modules' (ie ready-made adventures to be played) in the world of 'Krynn', and they were linked together in a franchise called 'DragonLance'. One of the authors of these modules I believe was Tracy Hickman.

To make a long story short, DragonLance Chronicles was, in fact, a chronicle of the adventures of Hickman and friends who played AD&D in the world of Krynn.

I used to play AD&D around the same time, and I read the novels as a by-product. I was surprised though, for it was pretty good. By no stretch of the imagination is it work comparable to Tolkien but it does what it does very well, and I guess that's why it holds such a special place in my heart, Plus there's nostalgia value for me. :p

Chronicles is good stuff. DragonLance Legends you should also watch out for, its a trilogy that concentrates just on the twins Raistlin and Caramon. Its also good. Death Cycle (unrelated to DragonLance) by the same authors I don't much agree with. The rest of the DragonLance franchise of books and anthologies, mostly written by other people, are best left alone. Sara may be referring to these.

Like all good things, its been milked to death. :D

"I think it's called DragonLance: War of the Souls" Sorry I don't know how to quote yet.

Oh the War of the Souls? They are actually after the Annotated Chronicles (Dragons of Autumn Twilight, Dragons of Winter Night, and Dragons of Spring Dawning). The Annotated Chronicles are about a war called the war of the Lance. The War of the Souls are actually like 100 years after the War of the Lance so some of the Characters from the Annotated Chronicles are actually dead to give you an example Tanis.

Yes they are done by a lot of authors but the Annotated Chronicles and the War of the Souls books are by Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman. If you have a favorite character of the novels like say Rastilin and Caramon there are books about their life and how they came to be.:D

Err....no....not War of the Souls. Its called DragonLance Legends. It happens just after Chronciles. Its a trilogy. Its almost all about the twins, though other characters from the Chronicles do feature. War of the Souls is something entirely different.

I like Legends mainly because of Raistlin.

Uhh...I wasn't talking to you Mnemolth. I was talking to Sara when I said the the War of the Souls books were after the Annotated Chronicles...I think I would know that I've read all the Annotated books and have read the two War of the Souls books (the other one just came out). But I know why you thought I was talking to you...its because I couldn't quote until now:blush:

Well, I finished DragonLance: Dragons of Winter Night II today. Gaw, I LOVED it!! ^^ I don't want to give away any spoilers, but it really was a sort of twist-ending about the Dragon Highlord and all, but yet sad all the same. I can't wait to read the third one and see what happens!

You said before that you didn't read the first one of the series, Dragons of Autumn Twilight. You should read that one as well because then you will get to know how they ended up on the journey in the first place!:p

I've read the Dragonlance series. They're good. Even read the series about the twins.
Afterwards, I read the Dark Elf trilogy, but it began to get on my nerves. I've read more novels based on Dragonlance. I like these novels better than Forgotten Realms.
Must have read these books 3-4 times.
