Manic Webb
Piccolo is the tallest good guy in DBZ. Actually, I think ChiChi's dad might be taller, but Piccolo is still very tall. When we first meet Dende, he is very short. And why not? He was just a kid. But if you watch the final episode of DBZ, Dende should be an adult, but he still isn't anywhere near Piccolo's height. Nameks are asexual, right? And Guru (aka, Saichirou or whatever) is the father of all Nameks. Dende is one of Guru's kids. Piccolo is probably like one of Guru's grandchildren. Why are none of them the same height? If Nameks are asexual, that means they only have one parent. That means DNA doesn't get mixed. So all kids are virtually genetic clones of their parent, who are clones of their parent (which leads to my "No Eve" theory that all Nameks were spawned from one "Adam" figure, but I'll talk about that later). If all Nameks are Guru's kids, then shouldn't they all have his exact same DNA and they should all be the same height? I've been chewing on that thought for a while. I can't make sense of it. JCBaggee
Maybe it has something to do with the fact he lived on Earth all his life. There could be something different about the water and sunlight on Earth from that on Namek. --J.C.
[Sound_Nin]
I really don't know, uhmmm..... I guess they're all different heights because....ummm...I don't know. But I'll look that up.
Darkness
Piccolo might not be Guru's grandchild at all. When Guru died, he gave his power to another. This could've happened before. Heck, you can kinda say that Kame is Piccolo's father since he created him, but you could also say that Piccolo is his own father, since he spit himself out as an egg, or you could say that........Darkness falls out the floor from exhaustion. Shy
Short Answer: Mr. Toriyama made them different heights because if all of the Nameks looked the same, then it would get very confusing. Less Short Answer: Since there is nothing mentioned in detail about Namek reproduction, it is very difficult to find an answer. My theory is that Nameks have excess genes in their bodies, and this allows variation when they multiply. I am not an expert on the subject of genetics, so I could be wrong. -Shy
Guest boogeta
That is true it would get very confusing and I think I saw some where on the net how namek reproducing is done
vegeta rocker
I guess i go with shyguy on this one, its an anime you're allowed some inconsistencies.
Iman
do not rely on the realistic ways of life in Dragonball Z. Its one big fantasy, and nothing like real life. and i like nameks. but if you are looking in real life at a-positif creatures, like chickens, not every chicken has the EXACT same looks as another chicken
Devon
well in real life i know people who have parents that are like 5'11 or 6 foot. but they are really short. and my parents had both had green eyes but i have blue eyes. so children aret REALLY geneticaly like thier parents all the time. or at least thats my theory. Manic Webb
When you have two parents, of course you're not going to look exactly like both of them. Two parents means mixing DNA from two your parents, who have mixed DNA from your four grandparents, who have mixed DNA from your 8 great-grandparents. Some genes and traits skip a generation or two and you might look more like a distant relative than your own mother or father. The same can be said for chickens. What I'm saying is that Nameks only have one parent. Having one parent means your DNA isn't a mix of anyone else but that single parent. That means you would be exactly like a clone. All Nameks should look exactly like Guru because he is their only parent. I know that I'm trying to connect real-life stuff to an unrealistic anime, but it's not like I sat down one day and said "what on DBZ isn't very realistic?". It just crossed my mind one day, when I was watching the episode where Krillin and Gohan met Dende for the first time. I'm random like that. Justin
DBZ has become a fuzzy subject for me, but who's to say that Guru was the original father of them all? Kami was pretty old, he could've been decended from an older Namek and, thus, so is Piccoro. -Justin
SS5 Gogeta
I remember in dragonball where Picollo Sr. can spit out any type of demons he wanted so Guru must've wanted to spit out a healer, a guardian, a warrior and so on
