Long ago, amid the chaos of the early universe, there was one prosperous race, named the arkali. A small race, only 35 of them ever existed. No details are known of how they came to be, but the story of their end has been passed down the generations to a select few:

"One day, long ago, the peaceful race of the Arkali became under threat by a truly powerful force. They decided that their only chance to preserve their life's work and accumulated knowledge was to merge into 7 powerful beings to combat the force. Each of the 7 beings was a merging of 5 Arkali, one each of their 5 sub-classes- Leader, Warrior, Scholar, Mage and Priest. The 7 beings were able to vanquish the evil force looming over their land, though in the merging process their bodies had to be discarded, only 7 spirits remained. Though successful in defending their land, the arkali themselves were no more."

The spirits travel the universe, inhabiting the bodies of beings from the day they are born, and leave the bodies when the hosts die. They provide these beings with unimaginable power, in exchange for the chance to experience life again. But this did not last long. Many of the hosts along the generations used the spirits' power for evil, consumed by their own greed. After a few generations had passed, the evil minds of the hosts had their effect on the spirits, and they too became consumed by dark emotions. Instead of simply allowing the hosts to use their powers, they struggled to dominate the hosts' bodies and minds. Many great wars were caused by the spirits, barely shells of their original selves, with no capacity for rational thought.

A few hundred years ago, the generation of 'arkali warriors' at the time realised their power, and set up an institute to try to gain control over their powers. It was found that by resisting the arkali spirits' attempts to gain control, and by using their powers when they were subdued (not in control), after a while the host had almost complete control over the spirit. The arkali warriors, later known as 'the seven emperors' dominated a large part of the galaxy with their seemingly endless powers, and the arkali empire was formed. This empire stood for only 70 years. When news reached all of the kingdoms that the last emperor had died of old age, a massive revolt started, as rebel factions on every planet launched massive attacks against their oppressors, no longer fearing the powerful emperors.
Now the arkali empire is nearly completely forgotten, and after 400 years, the worlds that were dominated by it are back to the way they once were. The institute set up by the seven emperors still exists somewhere, concealed in the darker parts of the galaxy.

Today, mystics from all around claim to feel a dark, powerful force coming. Those who know the history of the arkali believe it to be the same dark force that threatened the arkali long ago, and hope that somehow all 7 of the current generation of arkali warriors can be united to combat this great force again, as they know that no one else can.

Unknown to everyone, the seven spirits already inhabit new hosts, some dormant, while others have already awoke and are causing havoc in their hosts' minds.. The seven spirits and hosts are as follows:

The Spirit Light Bringer in the host Belteshazzar (myself)

The Spirit known as Light Bringer is the most powerful and aggressive arkali spirit, inhabiting a host on the planet Ghilloria. As a result, it's host is in a constant struggle for sanity, always trying to stop the spirit from taking control. He does not fully understand what is happeneing to him, and finds it hard to keep friends for a long time because of it.

The Spirit Firestorm in the Host Kain (Yoda)

The spirit named Fire Storm inhabits a mercinary, known for reliability and coldness, on the planet Valandra. It is said that something terrible must have happened to the family of Fire Storm's host long ago, as he/she has no recollection of his/her past, and has lost the ability to care for others. In reality, this happened ten years ago, when Fire Storm tried to take control it's host, and had all but succeeded. It's last action before the host drove Fire Storm out of his/her mind was to damage his'her mind in any way it could.

The Spirit Shadow Wraith in the host Ykonis (Ykonis)

The Spirit named Shadow Wraith inhabits a commander of the military on the planet Usterndur, near the centre of the galaxy. Shadow Wraith's host never shows his/her (It doesn't matter to me) true power, nor identity, having learned from the example of the seven emperors. Only those that he/she is about to eliminate get to know this.

The Spirit Wind Talon in the host Sheena Retay (Bremma)

The Spirit named Wind Talon inhabits a host on the planet Lianh which, at the age of 7, in a class, she was teased to the point where her Arkali spirit took over and killed half of the school. From then on, she has been an outcast and feared by many. She knows very little of her powers and how they work, but she would die to findout.

The Spirit Water Harbinger in the Host Seren Hanai (Sere Tuscumbia)

The Spirit named Water Harbinger inhabits a host on the planet Kharydin with no memory of an early childhood, but fragments occasionally come through in a dream, or vision. Although working on a college degree, she works part-time at a hospital. She finds that in times of serenity (which she is named after), she can heal certain types of sicknesses. Has no knowledge of what's being harboured inside her.

The Spirit Terra in the host Nevri Deloras (DeathKnight)

The Spirit named Terra inhabits a host born to an upper middleclass family on the planet Terra I, always adventourus from Childhood. As a child, she loved to see how far she could climb up that hill- Or how deep she could go in the lake, much to the dismay of her parents. As she got older, and entered her teenage years, she got even more adventourus, hiking the steepest mountains.
Unfortunately, last year her parents past away and she was left with everything. Right now, she is a bouncer at a nightclub, the shortest bouncer there. It is not known whether the spirit is awake or not.

The Spirit Seventh Child in the Host Alucia (Sara)

The Spirit named Seventh Child inhabits a host who Lives with some friends in a college situation on the planet Terra II. The spirit is not known to have awakened yet.

(Hope you guys don't mind, I essentially copied the bios you put in the sign up, into that last bit, and most of my original post in the first bit.. no original material so far ;))

(More people can join if you want, but the spirits are taken)

The ground was cold and wet, and the sound of rain, smashing the floor, could be heard all around.. Belteshazzar woke and stood up in a daze, almost falling over from imbalance, and he looked around to see nothing but smoking, burnt buildings, the fires now gradually lessening due to the rain. He couldn't remember how he got here, what he did, or why he was the only survivor.. and it wasn't the first time

He had been through similar experiences in the past, in different places. Somehow he always seemed to survive a huge tragedy of sorts, which he had no actual memory of.

He always had a headache, too.. The kind he had now..

Belteshazzar: not again..

He fell down onto his knees, weak, trembling from whatever had just happened. He looked to his left, and saw an unusually shaped sword there. He then reached out to pick it up, when a young man, almost like an angel, appeared ahead

young man: Are you ready for that yet?

Belteshazzar: *looks blankly*

young man: That sword is the Talon Blade.. there are stories that it was forged by the seven emperors and usedby the most powerful one.

Belteshazzar: Are you saying *cringes from headache*... Are you saying this sword has power?

young man: No.. the sword has no power of it's own.. it is merely a symbol of it.

Belteshazzar: So, why do you ask 'Are you ready for that yet?'

The young man grinned and then disappeared. Belteshazzar picked up the sword, and just held it for a minute. He felt that he had seen the weapon some time before, as if he had viewed it's creation. He didn't understand where this feeling came from, as the sword was evidently older than him.

He sheathed the sword in it's sheath, which was next to the sword itself.. and then he left the area...

Nevri stood at the enterance of El Diablo-- The local nightclub. There was a line extending from her, down the street, pratically to the end. It was somewhat sad that all these people were in line the merely get into this place.

It was nighttime on Terra I, one of those cold lonely quiet nighttimes. But alas, the silence could not penetrate even the outskirts of the metropolis Nevri lived in, and the hustle and bustle reigned supreme, even as the day itself was winding down twards mindnight.

Somewhat unusually, there had been no trouble tonight-- Not even the usual drunks.

Nevri: I guess everyone has their good day at work..;;

Nevri glanced around, somewhat cautiously as if she had just jinxed it, but relaxed at the sight of normal everyday city nightlife going on. She looked over to John, her co-worker, as he let in a group of 4 celebritys into the nightclub. He turned, nodded to her, and she nodded back.

John: Lazy night for you, eh? You are a tad anxious.

Nevri: I do enjoy a fight. ^_^ But I guess every quiet night is welcome.

John: Heh heh. Yea..

John grinned and returned to his watch, silently waiting for that one call that would make this an interesting night- as was I. It came from behind us, around 4 seconds after my wish for a fight. Out of the window flew a man, shattered glass flying everywhere.

John and I scrambled...

So I wrote a lot. ^^ I like writing.

Alucia flopped down onto her futon, completely worn out. What a day, she groaned inwardly. What a day.

She failed to react when heavy footfalls evidenced another person entering the room. The intruder laughed gently.

"You dead?" Carrie wanted to know. The question had become a catchphrase for them these past months, and a standard greeting.

"Ayef...hafe...fizziff," Alucia mumbled into her pillow. Carrie grinned.

"What was that, O Brilliant One?"

"I said, 'I hate physics,' " Alucia repeated, rolling over and sitting up. "Hate it." She paused for a moment. "Them. It. Oh, whatever."

"You're such a dork, 'lucia," Carrie said pleasantly, adding: "Cray and Josh are coming up tonight."

"I am not." Alucia blinked. "What? They are? But I thought--I mean--I thought that--"

"You think too much, that's your problem," her friend said absently, searching around for a cigarrette. "Most people go to college to have fun. Aha!" She produced the item from her purse and paused to light it.

"Don't do that, you'll kill yourself," Alucia said, swatting the offending item out of Carrie's hand. "I thought they were coming next week? Do the others know? Give me that," she added, snatching the lighter away. She and Carrie often had these dual conversations, although other people usually lost their place between the different subjects, but they understood eachother perfectly.

"See what I mean? You're too serious. Yeah, everyone knows except you. If you'd actually gone to the party last night..."

"I told you, I had to study. Besides, you know they won't take you for the internship if you smoke."

"Who's going to tell them?" Carrie demanded, but only for the sake of arguing. Her mind had moved on to bigger and better things. "Josh says he's bringing a date for you!"

"I will, if it'll keep you from doing it," Alucia muttered. Then, after the second statement registered.... "He what?!"

Carrie grinned happily. "He's bringing a friend up from Askan. I just know he'll be perfect for you!"

Alucia groaned. "Carrie, I don't need a boyfriend. I don't want a boyfriend. And you of all people should know I don't have time for a boyfriend!"

"But this one is different. Trust me." Carrie's eyes were alight with that peculiar fire she always got when she was about to make 'Lucie's life miserable. With the best intentions, of course.

"Carrie, Dayven was 'perfect for me.' Archer was 'perfect for me.' Georg and Donald, and--what was the other guy's name?--"

"Joseph," Carrie supplied dreamily.

Alucia rolled her eyes. "--were 'perfect for me.' " She paused. "Except they weren't."

"But this one's different!" Carrie protested. "Just wait! He's sweet, and cute, and--"

"--Dreamy, and charming, and I know," Alucia said, reciting Carrie's oft-recited mantra. "I know," she repeated gently. "But you know what?"

"What?"

"I don't want a boyfriend," she finished firmly. "Now, do you want to help me study for this test or not?"

Carrie rolled her eyes. "You just think you don't want a boyfriend," she added obstinantly. "But yeah, that's what I'm here for. What chapter do you want to start on?"
________________________________

A few hours later, Alucia peered into the dining room of Carrie's house. It was filled with light and people, and she was slightly bewildered by it all. Drinks and snacks were displayed flamboyantly across the table. Carrie had an eye for presentation, all right. People spilled out of the dining room into the living room and kitchen. Colors and conversation permeated the room.

Alucia felt very small. I shouldn't be here, she tried to convince herself. I can just turn around ad go back upstairs, and no one will know I ever came down... But John and Cray were somewhere in this mob of people, and it'd been a long time since she'd seen them. Okay, fair enough. She'd find them and...well, okay, she hadn't planned quite that far ahead yet. Oh, well. "You only live once," she murmered. Somehow, the cliche didn't carry nearly as much oomph as when Carrie said it.

"Lucie!!" Carrie exclaimed, rushing over, and in full hostess mode. "Oh, how are you?"

?The same as I was when you last saw me, half an hour ago,? Alucia replied, amused. ?Where are Cray and Josh??

?Oh, they?re about, the dears,? Carrie said grandly. ?But I must be off?my public awaits!? She winked as she spun off to greet some other guest.

?Indeed. Musn?t keep the public waiting?? Alucia said dryly, but Carrie was long gone.

?Quite the whirlwind, isn?t she?? a familiar voice said by her ear. She spun around, startled. The speaker was a young man, dressed in jeans and a colorful silk shirt. She looked at him strangely, trying to place the voice. He had straight brown hair that hadn?t been cut recently, and matching eyes?[that they were brown, not that the eyes hadn?t been cut recently. Well, I mean, one would hope not, but it?s just not something you would associate with eye color.]

Alucia blinked. She had no idea who this person was.

?Hello, ?Lucie,? Erik said. ?Long time, no see.?

It took everything Alucia had to keep from falling over.
________________________________________
?I am going to kill every single person who set me up for this,? Alucia said pleasantly. She and Erik were out on the back porch of Carrie?s extensive house. It was somewhere between fall and winter, and the sky was huge and dark here.

?I don?t think your friends would appreciate that too much,? Erik laughed. ?Although I still can?t believe they didn?t tell you.?

?Well, I?.Carrie just said you were the perfect date,? Alucia laughed nervously,

Erik?s eyes widened, and he jerked back. ?She what??

Alucia laughed again. ?Don?t worry. She?s been trying to set me up ever since I came here?and I still don?t want a boyfriend.?

Erik relaxed slightly, then started guiltily. ?I?m sorry, I mean?it?s not that I?I mean?you?but--?

?Oh, stop it,? Alucia groaned. ?School and stuff, remember??

?Yeah. School and stuff.? Erik grinned. ?So how have you been? Why haven?t you written me? How is school? It?s been a long time.?

Alucia smiled. ?I?ve been?okay. I have written you, I just haven?t gotten around to sending anything??

??Fat lot of good that does??

?School? School is?well. I don?t know. It?s weird. How is everyone back home??

?Everyone?s great. Sheila and Craig?you remember Sheila and Craig?? he asked. She nodded. ?They?re getting married.?

Alucia burst out laughing. ?Are you serious? Oh, that?s rich?Heh.? She grinned. ?But what about you? What are you doing in school?why are you here??

?Oh, they shipped me off for a year of ?foreign? study,? Erik grinned. ?Different country, different planet, you know. So naturally, I picked the one place in the universe I might run into Josh, and well?? He laughed. ?See where it?s gotten me? Seriously, though, I thought I?d go ahead and do some sort of thesis on comparing Terra I to Terra II. Your letters intrigued me.?

?You were seventeen when I started sending you letters,? Alucia accused. ?I?m sure they didn?t inspire you to come over and check the place out yourself. I hated it here, I remember that much.?

?True enough, but I kept them, and well? One versus two, kind of interesting, don?t you think?? Erik shrugged. ?Anyway, you still haven?t told me what you?re doing for school. I see you hooked up with John?s cousin Carrie. What?s your major??

Alucia looked faintly embarrassed. ?Astrology.?

Erik blinked at her. ?Wha? That?s not a major?is it??

?It is on Terra II,? Lucia half-grinned. ?Things are?different here. But you know, a few years, you almost get used to it.?

?Tell me again why you left?? Erik frowned.

?Wasn?t my idea,? she rolled her eyes. ?My dad?s a nut, remember? ?Ooh, new planet, let?s check it out!? He got the offer from his company, and we moved. Josh?s family got the same offer a couple years later, didn?t they? Anyway?I guess I like it here. It?s not quite home, but?hey, where is? I can?t imagine living back on Earth.?

?But you still call it that,? Erik pointed out. ?You still call it home.?

?Yeah, but you know the cliché. You can?t go back again.?

Erik looked at her strangely. ?I guess.? There was a quiet as the two of them looked out across the ?alien? landscape, and listened to the noises of the party inside. ?So?why astrology??

?I dunno. I don?t believe in signs and stars and all that stuff. I guess it just happened. You know??

?Not really.?

?That?s okay. I guess I don?t either. Not really,? Alucia smiled. ?Who knows, maybe there is a ?higher purpose? to life somewhere out there.?

?I don?t believe in God,? Erik said warningly.

?That?s okay. Neither do I, anymore.?

Erik let it drop.

"The boss will see you now."

The armed guard and his small escort led Kain into a dark, long chamber. It was well lit, and draped with many exquisit things. The aristocracy on Valandra were, by no means subtle about their wealth. The "boss" sat at the back, his loyal Valandran lurcher at his side. The man was old and fragile, he carried a walking stick made of fine Terran oak. However, he still stood proudly, and seemed to be very healthy and fit for his age. Kain knew the man, he was Onokai Tanasi.

Onokai: Ah, Kain, at last. Please take a seat. You, leave us.

The escort of guards left, leaving only Kain, Onokai and Onokai's chief of security. Kain set in the seat opposite Onokai, and the lurcher stared up at Kain edgily, and let out a small growl, which was completely unlike him. Onokai was deeply surprised by this, but he managed to hide his surprise.

Kain: Lets get right to the point... old man.

Onokai: Of course, I forgot how much of a businessman you are Kain. There is... a certian business rival of mine, that has been causing me some trouble. I would like him... taken care of.

Kain: Fine. I'll do the job for 75k.

Onokai: My, that is quite a salary. But I suppose if you want a job done right then it will cost that bit extra. Very well Kain, upon completion of the job you will recieve 75,000 Valon.

Kain: Pleasure doing business with you.

Onokai: The pleasure was all mine.

Onokai bowed, as when he rose, he found himself looking down the barrel of a TTF .50 Magnum. The cheif of security was chocking, gasping for breath, his neck torn in two by Kain's katana, which was in his other hand.

Kain: Nothing personal old man, but your rival got to me first.

Onokai looked in shock, taking in his last breath of air. A single shot was fired, and the elderly gentleman fell to the floor, fingers twitching violently. The lurcher however, did not react. Instead, he walked over to Kain, and stared up at him blankly.

Kain: I guess he didn't treat you to well did he. Well, don't you worry, I'll take care of you.

The lurchers tail wagged, he seemed to understand what Kain had said. However, Kain had something different planned. He raised his gun and pointed it at the lurcher. His eye twitched for a moment, as he stared at the helpless canine. A small part of his former, dormant self seeped through into what was mostly Fire Storm, though he didn't know it.

Kain: Damn, I can't kill a dog. Come on boy... and be glad you weren't a cat. I'm not too fond of those.

Kain turned, and thought of what he was going to do. Now, not only did he have to fight his way out, but keep the dog alive as well.

Sheena sits atop the edge of a cliff over looking a forest. She sat, her eyes scanning over the tops of the tress, a slight breeze rustling the branches as she looked over them. She sighed, looking at a leaf beside her. As she looked at it, it rose into the air, floating on a breeze. She watched as the breeze floated away, It got her to thinking about that day. Her mind still wasnt sure what happened, but she remebered getting very angry at the boys that were teasing her. She remembered screaming and hearing a loud, hard wind. After that, she remebered hearing that she has cause a tornado, killing the boys as well as half the school. And here she was now. Exiled from civilization. She sighs and pulls out her bow and arrow, slowly standing and looking. Down in a clearing she saw a deer. Gently, she loaded an arrow, pulling it back itno place, carefully aiming. She then pulled the trigger, as a strong wind blew at her back, pushing the arrow along, sending it into the heart o the deer. She nodded, and climbed down. "Looks like deer tonight.." she said to her self softly.

OOC: wow.. Sara, you really did write a lot.. ^^ especially considering it's small text..

Also OOC: Dammit! I keep calling myself Deus instead of Belteshazzar!#

Even more OOC: Come on people!! :toothy: post!
-------------------

Belteshazzar approached the town entrance

Belteshazzar: "Welcome to Ghil-139".. pfft.. It was far better when the towns here had names.. not numbers..

Belteshazzar walked into the old, dark, delapidated town. Ghillorhia used to be the capital planet of the Arkali Empire, and was the planet damaged the most during the rebellion against the oppressive forces of the seven emperors, and it had never been renovated since then. Belteshazzar could somehow feel someone lurking in the darkness, and unsheathed the Talon Blade.

He kept on walking, sensing someone nearby, but unsure how he could sense such a thing. He peered into the shadows, and suddenly a young boy came running out. Belteshazzar jumped, and then turned around towards the child, still running away

Belteshazzar: IDIOT KID!!

Just then, someone else jumped out of the shadows and struck Belteshazzar, sending him flying into a wall. Belteshazzar's eyes began to glow with a yellow light, and he clutched the Talon blade more tightly

Belteshazzar: Who are you?

But the man, now in plain sight, was frozen in fear. The man was very large, and seemed capable to take Belteshazzar on easily, if not for the power inside him. Belteshazzar stretched out his arm and a beam of bright light extended from it, colliding with the man and vapourising him. Belteshazzar then looked at his hand, and at what he had done, in horror

Belteshazzar then started to writhe around on the floor, trying to control what seemed to be a demon within him...

Yeah, that's all cool.. I was just waiting for, like.. 3 more intros ^^; out of seven.. anyway.. it'd probably be easier to just start interacting now..

OK.. since Sara and DK's characters seem not to be aware of the spirits, you stay on your own planets. The rest of us will be "drawn" to you..

Bremma and Yoda's characters, make your way to Terra I,

Ykonis, make your way to Terra II, and I will too ;)

I'm not sure if Sere is here anymore.. if so, then she should just go to either of those two ;)

P.S. Thanks for posting the problem, rather than letting the thread go down ;)

boy, do I feel disorganised ^^;

As Bremma walked through the forest, she suddenly had a strong impulse tug at her. "Hmm.. Terra 1?" she said aloud, as that name and an image of that planet flashed in her head. "Hmm... Maybe it had something to do with my powers..." she mused to her self, looking to the east, seeing rockets taking off and landing. She smiles and headed that way.

A day later.

"It her!" a person cried out, seeing her approaching the terminal. "It's that girl!"

"You're joking!" "It can't be her!" "What can we do?!" panicked people cried.

The head of the station stepped out. "Silence please, just let her in and see what she wants.

As he says that, she pushes the door of the terminal open and approaches the manager. "I need to get a flight to Terra 1."

"Of course, and how will you be paying?" he asked.

She pulled out a small leather purse, setting it in his hand. "That should be enough."

He looked in, amazed to see that it was the exact amount for a flight to Terra I. "Yes, yes it is. Down the hall, to your left. It will depart shortly."

She nodded and walked off. After she entered (and several people hastily exited the terminal) the group sigh in relief. "She's leaving!" "A celebration will be in order."

"Shh, shh,, keep it down until she is gone." the manager said, watching the window. "Look there it goes now," he said, pointing to a passenger craft as it took off and departed into space. The whole crowd cheered, the most feared person on the planet now gone.
