SSJ5 Vegeta
All you coffee drinkers, and caffeine drinkers. You may be surprised to find out that your so called dirty habit by religous bigots is actually doing you some good! Caffeine according to the Journal of Medicine, or something similar to that (saw this on a FOX news show) has been proven to make you smarter. Yes smarter. Older people who have drank coffee their whole lives are actually proven to have raised intelligences over people who haven't in their 40's and up, and increases memory, and may even repair memory loss. Also caffeine in lab tests has reduced skin cancer in lab mice and helps prevent tumors when applied directly to the skin. Cool huh?
Sui Generis
Lol thats awesome, too bad I don't drink soda's. Just coffee. Anyways, but doesn't too much caffeine lead to heart problems and such. Another interstng fact did you know that carbination in Soda's actually soak up the calcium in your bones hallowing them, so the more you drink coke the more likely you are to break a bone. BabyGirl
Well that seems to be good news since I am a Diet Coke addict :toothy: However, certain pop [soda] is shown to cause cancer and even multiple sclerosis. Diet Coke happens to be one of those drinks, which is too bad because I can't live without it :p
Semjaza
I'm sure this is just as reliable as pills that increase boob size or penis length. It seems like anyone can pop out some study lately. I've heard 34534563 things about just what eggs do, all contradicting. All I know is that I stopped drinking soda and I don't feel as sick anymore. I'm not going to start drinking more again so I can hope to gain a point on an IQ test lol. Tea is good though :).

Ryan
Wow! But seriously I have heard everything and caffeine does more bad. But I am addicted to everything. I drink everything because I think all the cokes and coffees are delicious. I do drink more cokes than coffees though. They stunt your growth, which is probably why I am so small. I can't quit. Now I know what drugs do.

James
I think the jury is still out on caffine. Some studies have pointed to negative aspects...whilst others have pointed to possible positive effects. I think in reality it's somewhere in the middle. Caffine probably has bad aspects to it, but I'm sure it also has positive aspects.

James
I don't see how that makes sense. If you soak a chicken bone in soda, the bubbles are directly affecting it. If you drink soda, it's not coming in contact with your bones at all...it's going straight down your digestive path to your stomach. That's a moot point.

Sveven Dvorking
I still do not think I would benefit significantly from drinking caffeine regularly. I am tired frequently, and many say that caffeine makes you less sleepy. Even still, something would need to have multiple positive effects and no likely negative effects for me to try it. As of now, that is not the story with caffeine.
Justin
Mormans(sp?) don't believe in ingesting anything not healthy for the body. Mormans, by the way, are not to be confused with Christians. They are a sudo-Christian religion, no matter what they would have you think. Anyway, I'm more or less with James. I'm sure it has its positive effects, but no-doubt it has negative ones also. Either way, I don't really drink many cokes or much coffee anyway, so it doesn't really matter to me. -Justin
Sara
I don't drink soda....too sweet. And I get very scary and hyper.... I'm really not used to having a lot of sugar or caffeine. I do like tea, though.

Sara
The only verse I can think of is "...your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit....therefore honor God with your body." In any case, I really don't think the 'religious bigots' statement was necessary to your thread, SSJ5 Vegeta.

Acid
Well, I drink Jolt (coke with 2x the caffiene) every time I get a chance. Plus I bassically live off of soda. :p I must be one of the smartest people ever!
Phantom
*disregards everything said except original post for a second* Smarts....and Intelligence are two VERY different things. Dont interwine them because they dont cross paths too well. You can be People smart...but cannot possess the intelligence to understand basic conceptual things like common sense. You can have math smarts, but constantly decide to compare the colour of your socks with the size of an apple...why because some people accidentally converge intelligence with smarts. *back on topic* Caffeine, yes probably does induce your brain to interepet and cohere(sp?) with various things with an lesser degree of ineptitude. But there are several detainments to Caffeine, such as it works like a drug..hell it IS a drug, and its effects can never be anything more than short term. Unless of course you drink the stuff to the point that your blood is brown and you smell like Mombassa.

No harm in at least trying to cover up your ignorance. :) On the topic of caffeine, and coffee more specifically, overrall it's more harmful than helpful. And since some individuals have felt compelled to try and broaden the discussion, I will say that Mormons do not drink coffee or tea, or at least are advised not to. Coffee is addicting, and certain (not all) teas can be also. The purpose of the Word of Wisdom is to keep the body free from addictions, encouraging stronger self-will and full capacity of functionality. Therefore the Word of Wisdom would also include abstaining from cigarrettes, alcohol, and anything else in excess that would cause harm. Well now, you've all learned something new today. Oh wait, here's one more thing: Mormons ARE Christian! :excited: Wowy, run along and write in your journals now.

To break up the molecules that make up carbination it takes alot of Calcium, and if you drink enough your body has to use the reserves in your bones, hallowing them out.
