James
Your loss of calcium thing is bogus. You're telling me that soda is hard for your stomach to break down? Nuh uh. Soda is simply carbonated water with bubbles, sugar and flavouring. The idea that it's some toxic acid that can't be broken down easily is rubbish.
Kent
Well all of us react differently. Some have heartburn, some have lactose intolerance. As for caffiene... Pot, crack, koke, crank, smack, tobacco, alchohal... nothing above compares to the all dangerous caffiene. Oh well, I will be leaving now to have a cup of coffee. Have you been in a morgue of someone who recently died...looked at their bones to see nothing but air? Oh well...tis purely what I have learned through my Biology class.... But yes I don't have to worry about it anyways because I don't really care for Soda's that much...

Mitch
I used to drink pop quite often. But I have stopped, only drinking it from time to time. Mostly I choose water now. As for these studies....I still am hestiant, quite hestiant, in fact, to believe it will make you smarter. Caffeine is a stimulant of the central nervous system, the complete opposite of alcohol. Sure, it might make your reaction time and your computing abilities increase for the time that the caffeine is within your body. Although I do not believe caffeine is bad for you or anything, it still is addicting, and it is a drug.

Problem is, carbonic acid is unstable, thus quickly decompose in CO2 and water, back and forth. Besides, the reaction isn't really powerfull, even with the amounts of CO2 in sodas. Still, there OUGHT to be some amounts of carbonic acid in CO2-soaked water. That was for the chicken bones in soda. I am not sure how exactly soda can hallow the bones though... *goes to search on Internet* I've checked one or two things up: Apparently, several studies are showing that soda may be related to higher risks to break a bone. The most discussed hypothesis the presence of phospphoric acid/phosphats (not carbination, mind you). phosphorus and calcium metabolisms are related, thus a high consommation of phosphorus could cause losses of calcium. Also, Caffein is a diuretic (it makes you piss more often), which could also causes larger losses of calciuj in urin. There are no precise explanation, but on many sites, they say that caffein aither causes larger losses of calcium on inhibitate our capability to absorb it. Anything more?
