I'm really happy about this, but how can they, since FFVII is my favorite FF, but how can they? I won't ruin the game, but there's nothing else that can happen. Seriously, there's no storyline left. Still, all this talk about FF sequals is getting me excited, ecspecially the Kingdom Hearts 2 for PS3

I always thought that voice that talks to Cloud was the
Jenova cells in him.
Dunno, though.

As for a prequel to FFVII, I think that'd be best. A sequel could work, though--it just wouldn't work with the same characters. They'd have to make up a new story with different characters, probably set quite a while after FFVII, and just have it set in the FFVII world.

*Gives ZeroSaber007 the dirtiest look he can manage!* Personally i think that the good people at Squaresoft have heard the fans cry for a sequel to FFX and i was one of them. I am so overjoyed they are making a sequel to the game and to make a point to this rant. I think that FFX-2 would be a one time thing. I mean i have to agree it would be good for a FF-VII sequel but it just would be boring, i know the ending for the game was as crappy as all get out but still it basically answered SOME questions for me, although i did want to know what happened to the others. But a sequel for FFX is the perfect thing! It would tie up so many loose ends and questions that I would consider it a godsend. I will definetly be sure to buy the game. I would though like to see a remake of Final Fantasy 7 and Final Fantasy 8 for the PS2. I mean those games would look beautiful if they were re-designed for the PS2, i mean they would definitley take the PS2 to its limits in a manner of graphics and things like that. Thats all for my 2 cents worth.

*sighs* ...Why does everyone automatically assume that a sequel to FFVII will be set right after the end of FFVII, with the same characters and everything? I really, really doubt that's going to happen, because Square has said they're only going to make a sequel if they can make it so the game isn't disappointing after playing FFVII. (At least I'm pretty sure I heard something like that).

So yeah, I don't think people have to worry about a sequel that's boring because it has no story. If they're going to make a sequel, it's going to be at least somewhat close to being as good as FFVII.

And, like I said, I'm thinking the only way to do that would be to make it a prequel, or have it set quite a while after FFVII with different characters and a different story, and pretty much just have it set in the FFVII world. Almost definitely not right after the end of FFVII.

If Square had any sense, they'd wait for FFX-2 to get millions of sales and praise, then they should think about making a sequel or prequel to FFVII. Well.. Square have to see how their first direct sequel turns out, don't they?

Well, i doubt they're is a sequel. But I've heard they have been creating a MMORPG (Massive multiplayer online Role Playing Game) which will cost $10 a month. MMORPGs are great fun but cost money. But then, I don't excactly how great or bad the next Final Fantasy MMORPGs is. But i don't think they'll be making another RPG for final fantasy beside MMORPGs.

They are making a MMORPG. It's called Final Fantasy XI, and it's already out in Japan.

And yes, they're going to finish FFX-2 before they even seriously consider a FFVII sequel. If they do make one, we won't be seeing it for a long, long time.

What about what they were origiannaly gonna do with FFX-2. Origiannaly, they were gonna have it 3 seperate games, one following Yuna, another Rikku, and I don't remember the third one. Couldn't they make it like that for FFVII-2? I mean, I must agree with Desbreko that it'll probably be a prequal. Couldn't they have one following Cloud's life, one following Barret's, and one following Sephiroth? I know that it sounds pretty far-fetched that they would make a game focusing on Sephiroth's life, but it would sell a whole lot. Or, even if they just made one game, with all of this on the same disk, it would work me thinks.

Making multiple sequels to FFVII would be pretty silly. One, it would cost a lot to make. Two, some people don't like all the characters on FFVII. Three, it would just be silly. :P

One that focuses on Sephiroth's life would be interesting, but then, knowing all the facts about and information about his life would ruin the original plot off FFVII somewhat.

But most people already played FFVII. And plus, if they didn't, they should, cause that game is a friggin' classic! If it wern't for that game, Squaresoft wouldn't be as popular as it is now. And yes, making 3 FFVII sequals would be silly, but that's what I heard they were gonna do with FFX sequals, and (if you ask me) FFVII was a better game.

Yeah, if you do want to know more about FFX-2, go to that link in my last post. And, yes, FFVII (in my opinion) is a better game than FFX. I find FFX to be eye-candy, really.

I'm just saying, as long as Square make a sequel/prequel, it better be bloody good to even come close to original FFVII standards.

 • 2 weeks later...
perhaps they will simply gloss up the old ff7 and re-release it with more spells, monsters much better graphics etc. and keep the kickarse storyline. I reckon just about all of you would buy that! lol. (meh included)

Oh god yes that would rock! I mean sure the idea of redoing a game would sound silly but i would get it anyway even though i have the first. Mostly because the game was a genuine original, the storyline and mini games were great, i'm sure if they did it that way it would make some money.

A prequel about Seph. At first, I liked the idea a lot...but the more I think about it...

For those of us who played FF7, we KNOW what happens to Sephiroth. IF there was a prequel about his past, FF7 would affect it in one of two ways--overwhelming sympathy for him because we know what happens, or a complete turnoff, because we know what happens.

My personal preference aside (it would still be nice to see some history to Seph, regardless), it seems that a potential pre/sequel would focus more on the LifeStream and Mako. JENOVA's first approach to the planet. And the likelihood of the game being anywhere near the timeline of FF7's or using the same characters is pretty low. Putting the game too close to FF7 would ruin it (not IMO, but there it is for ya, according to how I see games).

I'm just a tad late joining in this argument, but I wouldn't mind seeing a prequel. Like Ginneh said, it should focus more on the lifestream and on the developement of the Shinra corp. and MAKO reactors.

Perhaps if the main character was Jenova, the game would be more thrilling. It could cronicle Jenovas life from it's birth, to how it came to Gaia, to how it was discovered, and then end the game with the birth of Sephiroth. That would be something I would buy.
