Angel

I didn't watch Angel at first (a show with Wesley, Cordy, and Angel in it? Like I'd ever watch that!) but then I guess i got into it soon after Fred joined the cast. I liked how they made their personalities likeable on this show.

Angel wasn't just Buffy's extremely quiet vampire boyfriend (plus they got rid of those purple lips of his. No other vampire had purple lips except for him). He had a sense of humor, which wasn't there before.

They gave Cordy a sense of priority and an important role, while still keeping her "I like shopping" side present.

They gave Wesley a back-bone and he suddenly knew how to fight. He had to be the most annoying character when he was on "Buffy" for half a season. "Angel" made him less annoying. Now he's annoying again...

I like Lorn (is that his name?). He's a demon who doesn't care he's a demon. The guy just wants to perform, but they keep dragging him into battles for no reason...

Fred and Gunn are good characters (although a little easy to figure out). I'll admit that their romance caught me totally off-guard. But it brought out a less-shy side of Fred, which was good. What's her full name, anyway? Winfred, right?

I'd love to.

Fred was a college student studying about multiple dimensions on Planet Earth until her professor became jealous of her and sent her to the Demon dimension, Pylea (sp? Lorne is from that Dimension too). Fred was forced to work as a slave for five years until she was found by Angel and the gang when they traveled to Pylea to retrieve Cordelia. They brought Fred back into the Earth dimension when they returned, and she has been staying with them ever since.

I almost feel sorry for Wesley at this point- He screwed up once, and now look at him- alone, sour, and destined to be a hermit-

though if he had taken my son, I wouldn't have shown him mercy either-
I liekd the scene where Angel attacked him in the hospital- Wesley deserved it for the betrayal and subsequent loss of Angel's son-

I don't know about Wesley these days, he has changed so much in the past few years that it bothers me. Wesley and Lilah are spending all of their free time sleeping together and plotting to backstab each other, is this the same Wesley who had only seen two vampires in his entire life before he moved to Sunnydale?

Angel has forgiven Wesley though, more or less. Hopefully he can be one of the good guys again, but I don't mind if he stays evil for a little while longer.

I think Wes got off lightly- oh well :P

last weeks episode was cool though- I saw the scene where Fred was presenting her theory, and the portal opened up, and everything went all Cthulu, and I was like "this can't be good for her mind"

I'm going to miss tonight's episode b/c of work, and my VCR is dead :( can somebody sum it up for me tonight?

laters-
*opens portal to the void to prepare for hell.... err work*

Last night's ep...complete with...

SPOILERS!!!!

Lorne returns with a memory spell, hoping to restore Cordelia's memory. Unfortunatly, it botches and everyone is reverted to a mental status of about 17 years old, with Lorne being knocked out. Not bad for everyone, 'cept Angel thinks he's still some guy in Ireland. Wesley believes it's a watchers acadamy test and convinces them all that they are hunting a vampire. About this time, Angel secretly realizes he's a vampire. Later on, Lorne wakes up and tells everyone that Angel is a vampire, who is then hunted by everyone. He's about to bite Cordy when Connor shows up. The two fight, Lorne is able to restore Fred's memory, and everything is okay. Cordy's memory is restored, she tells Angel that they were in love, but she needs to be alone. It would seem that her memory has some very ugly images...

And to top that off, the whole Apocalypse thing they've been building since season 1 kicks off next week!

(Oh I couldn't help myself)

Angel is one of the best shows there is. The theme song . . . ahhh . . .

And really, they (Joss and the spawn of satan Marti) gave Angel a better personality on Angel. Can you say "sense of humour"? However, I came in on Angel last season . . . about the same time that I started watching Buffy.

However, my favorite episode is Sunday's (the most recent one. "Spin the Bottle"). "Tabula Rasa" all over again, except without the screaming. And a very pissed off Connor, who I don't like. However, I finally got my old Cordy back ("My hhhhaaaiiiirrrrr . . .") which I'm happy, even though we were stuck with pre-vamped Angel (a.k.a. Liam)

And I have to get a correction. The "test" that Wesley is talking about is the (ugh. Sissy has stolen my Watcher's Guide for Seasons 3 & 4, so I can't tell you.). Anyway--it's a test for Slayers. A weakened Slayer (under the usage of drugs) is stuck in a place with a vampire (most likely insane) and if they pass, well good for them. If they don't pass, well, you get the point. AND, this test is only taken when a Slayer reaches the age of 18.

And, as a little bit on inside info, the first eppie where Cordy is in it all the way after she left, is called "Slouching toward Bethlehem", taken from a poem which describes a "Second Coming", a.k.a. the Apocolypse that's arriving. Quite cool.

The memory that Cordy has is, I do believe, the vision that Lorne had when he read her. Heh, Lorne's the best. ("I know I'm supposed to be unconscious during this part, but can you believe these mooks?")

But, however, I don't really like Gunn and Fred together. They're too . . . sex-crazed, really. Several times I have seen more of Fred than I've wanted to.

Ok, I'm rambling. Seriously, I am. I'll just shut up now.

BTW--yes, it is Pylea. And, FYI--if you're wanting to know, it's Quor-Toth. And Lorne is from Pylea. I know too much . . .

HOWEVER--what's the whole story with Darla? I know that Angel staked her on Buffy, but she was on Angel. My sister explained something like that Wolfram & Hart brought Darla back, and then had Drusilla vamp her, and then her and Angel made like bunnies and Darla staked herself when she realized that W&H were using her, leaving Connor, but is that right?

Yup, she killed herself just before giving birth to Connor. Darla turned to dust, and Baby Connor somehow managed to survive it. Afterwards, Wesley interpreted a scroll or something as saying that Angel would eventually kill Connor, so he kidnapped Connor to save his life. However, he was double crossed, had his throat cut(yeow!), and the group gave him the boot, not to mention Connor was taken to some freaky time dimension thing were he was raised to hate vampires. I'll cover the rest when someone else asks for it...

Oh, and what you said about the theme song...I totally agree. I think that's one of the best themes on TV right now.

I want to see a connection between Buffy and Angel (the shows, not the characters) about this whole end-of-the-world jazz.

On one show, Lorne and Cordy are predicting the end of the world. On the other show, Willow is afraid of the Earth itself and every demon keeps saying "from beneath it devoures." If these two are connected, that'd be kool. If they aren't, then you gotta wonder which show will face the end of the world first.

And Sere, I agree that Fred and Gunn are a little too sex-crazed. The worst part is that it came out of nowhere. The two of them never even shook hands, suddenly they're climbing in bed at least twice every episode.

some people might have missed it because of other obligations and because when it first came out it wasnt promoted well and there was the whole fact that the origional plot and cast was a little odd. I personaly didnt think that the show was going to last very long.

But now that Angel has a real direction that the series is moving the show is getting better. And trust me, the show got better fast.

Angel is really no match for Buffy. Well ok, it may be now, but that's just because Buffy has become such a pale imitation of itself.

Highschool Buffy is great, everything else you can pretty much miss out on without actually missing out. Now Buffy (the show) is so angsty, or alternatively smug, that it just doesn't have the bite it used to have. And its more and more plot driven as well, whereas before, plot was really just a means to have some fun.

As for Angel, it could never achieve the heights that Buffy managed to in its first few seasons. Angel is practically all plot driven.

I liked Buffy when it was a smart show in the guise of a fun airhead. Now its almost the other way round. I only continue to watch due to misplaced loyalty.
