Cowboy Bebop: The Movie

Well I'm gonna put this in the Lounge and someone can move it to the CB forum if they feel the need. I didn't put it in there because I'm not a CB fan. Never seen it before, and this post is really just about my impression of the feature film, like any other anime feature that I've seen on the big screen with big sound. We've got a little festival going here this weekend. I'll be watching Spirited Away tomorrow.

The movie is hip, snappy and funny. That pretty much sums it up. I liked the beginning and ending credits, they were nice. The soundtrack was not too bad, the whole retro thing kinda worked. Yay for platform shoes! :)

I can see why CB has been popular...

But best of all I like the action sequences. Those fight scenes really bite. I dunno about CB the series, but if you like your action well choreographed, your music with a funky beat, I'd say check out CB The Movie. You can do far worse. :D

If you knew that it was going into the Cowboy Bebop forum, then why did you not put it there? o_O So...you're not putting it there because you're not a fan of it? HAHAHAHAHAHA...::cough::

I think the movie is great. I was waiting until it was dubbed to buy it, but I decided to just go ahead and get it subbed. I really liked it, especially the action scenes, like the one on the train. The music is also amazing. Yoko Kano really outdid themselves this time.

Edit: In any case, I found another thread in the Bebop forum for the movie. Just continue it here. I knew I talked about it here before...

Well in my opinion it doesn't belong in the CB forum because I'm not talking about the movie as a fan, I'm not talking about it as the series, its just a movie I saw that I thought I'd share my thoughts with the anime community here.

If I put it in the CB forum, its likely to be read by CB fans, and really what I wanted to say was, if you've never seen this movie, go out and watch it, its a lot of fun, and really, what's the point of that message if I'm preaching to the converted? ;)

I'm treating this as a one shot movie affair, I haven't compared it with the series, I don't know anything about the series. So yeah. I figured I'd place it here. And if I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will come along and move it. :D

Besides, the thread you mentioned is old, and I heard somewhere that you're not allowed to revive threads over 30 days or something?? Hmm....not sure...

Well, actually, reviving threads is better than making the exact one over again. I think that's what mods are more concerned about. But if you just bring back an old topic for no reason, like you're just agreeing with everyone else and are not helping the conversation, then there is really no point.

But, ok, I see your point. Lets hope the mods do too.

Same here as well. I really love CBB!
Bah, people, lets try to stay on topic here. I don't care if you like Cowboy Bebop, this is about the movie, lol.

I believe that this is one the of the best anime movies of our time, and I really can't wait to see what it will be like dubbed.

Nah, I doubt they would. They didn't in the series, and I'd think they would try to make is even better in the movie. I'm mostly concerned with dialogue, both voices and conversation. If the actors simply cannot get into character, then the movie will turn out horrible when dubbed.

I heard rumors about another one coming out later on... I'm not so sure about it though. I just over heard it from a few guys at the Meteron, and I really wish it were true. ^_^
Another Cowboy Bebop movie? Ah, for I wish it was so. However, Cowboy Bebop is even kind of old in Japan, and when you think about that, I really doubt they would bring out another one. It would be cool, but highly doubtfull.

mm... yeah you have a point. It's been dead for about eight years in Korea, and when I call a friend about it, she just sits for a while and then all of a sudden says, "Oh yeah, that... I remember now. My sister liked it a while back.".

They were just a few guys at a corner of the anime section anyway... bah. I wish there was... T-T

(psst.. even though I haven't seen all the sessions yet. ^_-)

The movie would've been better if they explained some parts of the series .. like how exactly does spyke survive those deaths that he encountered in the past. The movie was alright, but it seemed more like another episode then a movie.

Just a quick thing...your banner is 100 pxs too wide, please change it. Thanks! ^_^ -Syk3

Really? Eight years? I could have sworn that the series premired in 1998. Perhaps she got the eights mixed up.

I actually liked it better this way. Sure, they could have gone over the series and explained a few things, but it was basically self-explanitory anyway, and I liked how it was a new story altogether. I'm sure that they wouldn't have been able to capture half of the audience that they did if they didn't make a new and amazing story. But...what parts were confusing for you? I believe that Spike survived because he had the will to survive (Julia), and because he's pretty tough.

Personally, I thought the movie was alright. I thought the creators could have put more action scenes in it, but besides that it's all good.

Hmm... my friend's been telling me it aired a while back. When was it released in Japan? I know Japanese anime gets transfered to Korea pretty quick, considering the languages are somewhat similar, and the lands are pretty close. ^_^
Maybe my friend mixed it up, but I swear it's a little older than four-five years old... ^^; *runs just in case*
