I'm probably going to be going through the same surgery that you did, so can you tell me what's going to happen? Tips maybe or whatever?
It won't hurt bad, you'll only feel the shots and it takes like 15 minutes (it's just waiting in the lobby for 5 hours that is annoying).

Anyway, just tell them not to put the aenistetic (sp?) shot's needle in the infected part (it will supposedly hurt like the worst shot you've ever had I hear) and just to put a few shots around the toe, but I don't know if that works for everyone like it did for me.

Anyway, it will be disgusting to see all of the blood if it gushes like mine did, but that's about all. You'll feel nothing but a little bit of pressure.

Luckily, they don't cut the corner of your toe open (like I thought they would), they just stick a nail remover in there and dig the nail out, then cut it off.

Didn't work the same way for me though. The doctor was pretty incompetant it seemed and didn't have a nail remover, so he used tweezers and scissors, and took out a scalpel, but didn't use it.

At the end, he said "Hmm, I didn't get to use the scalpel," in a sad sort of way, and I thought, "Thank God this maniac didn't get to use the scalpel."

E D I T: Oh yeah, it will feel so much better when it's done. Earlier I hit my toe (and held my breath like I always do, so I don't yell out in pain), but I didn't feel anything. They say you should be out of physical activity (like P.E.) for a week, but it's not that bad, I play all sorts of stuff still.

Oh god, I hate shots. Oh well, I've run away from this for about a year, might as well get it over with. And thanks, I'll ask not to have that certain shot. Ouch.

As for the physical activities, that's all good, because you only have to take P.E. once in high school, so that's over with, and then I just finished playing out my soccer (or football for some of you) season, so there's nothing like that in my schedual.

Surgery?

Mmm, the only surgery I've ever had was when I was a baby that I can't even remember. I was born very prematurely, and when I came out my esophagus wasn't attached to my stomach. I couldn't eat anything for two days and I was near death by the time they finally were prepared to do surgery. Ever since I've had a scar halfway across my back and a little hole - well, more like a dent, - in my right side.

The only other surgery I believe I've had is when I was also really little. The person who was watching me one evening while my parents were out was paying no attention to me whatsoever. I wound up falling off the couch and landing on my face, and my bottom teeth (which had just grown in) literally went through my bottom lip. I had to get stitches across my lip and it took months for my gums to heal.

Although I can't remember it, I guess it was pretty painful...
Then again I should be glad I don't remember it. Lol.

I had surgery for a hurneya, like when I was 2 or 3. My brother though (not N-man) had surgery to take his appendix taken out. It had rupsured and everything. He was in the hospital for like 2 days and a week. After he got out of it he couldn't hardly do anything for 3 weeks.
