Guest Morph
I really couldn't think up a name for this topic. Well, I can't decide between skateboarding or inline. Let me tell you the story... Well I have been skateboarding for quite sometime now, and I've been happy, most of my friends skateboard. But I cannot do many tricks with my skateboard, although I've been skateboarding for as long as them. All I can do is ollie, kickflip, 50/50 grind, and 5-0 grind. Recently I was watching an inline competition and the trick varietion between the two was no contest. Plus when I told my friend that I may do inline he said "Mike, Inline is easier then skateboarding." Or something of that sort. But I can't decide on my own, my parents also say that they would PREFER that I inline instead of skateboard. But I DON'T KNOW! AAAAHHHHH!!!! Help Me!
Sui Generis
Ok I had to make the same decision. Personally now I inline. Its not exactly easier, sure the tricks themselves could be considered easier, but when you fall it hurts a hell alot more, and its alittle harder to stay on your feet. Thats because un-like on a skateboard if you mess up a landing you can still get lucky and land on your feet, yet in-lining if you lean alittle to forward or backwards or whatever you fall. Its a bit painful that way. But I love in-lining. THere is a HUGE variation of tricks, and there is even room for made up ones...(Such as my 540 Heli Cross Grab) ;)! Skateboarding is also fun. But I'd say go inlining! Because the world needs more of us! ;):p
Kinetic
Well, I voted in the fourth choice just because I don't know which you should do and I thought it was humorous :p I myself am not good at either and don't know much about them, so it really comes down to which you enjoy doing more. Guest Morph
Heh, well LR [Hell NO am I spelling that name :P] I have actually never did inline in a skatepark. I've only done it with my friends skateboarding stuff. It seemed easy enough, I also felt more comfortable doing inline then skatebooading because I have more control. But I enjoy both... Also LR, if you grind a virgin rail with skates its easier to get caught I would think then with a skateboard where you just jump off and run with it. Its fun running from the cops/people once they caught you grinding a rail somewhere... Although I got caught once... It wasn't a pretty site at home, thats to say the least... -_- Aries, the fourth choice was just a joke..-_-;; As I stated before I enjoy btoh so I'm still at the same conclusion....
Acid
Trust me on this, In line sucks. Stick with skateboarding. I have been skating since Febuary and I can't do much more than you.
Sui Generis
Yeah thats another downside of inlining...You can't stop from falling...which means you may get racked a couple of times. But I agree with you that you feel like you have more control. Its MUCH more comfortable for me to inline than skateboard which is why I chose inlining. Lol yeah its fun to skate off from the cops cuz they get pissed. I also enjoy grabbing on peoples cars and riding them for a couple of seconds and skating off as soon as they realize it! There is a bit of timing difference in skateboarding and inlining, but I still say you should go inlining....but go with what you like.
Guest Morph
LR, I have a question. For the skates, do they weigh a lot? The reason I'm asking is because I inlined at my friends house a few years ago, because I was just starting, like not aggressive skateboarding but just skateboarding and doing nothing... Plus, is it hard to jump with them?
Sui Generis
Well at first if you get them with grinding plates they can be alittle heavy, but you'll get used to it quickly. Its alittle difficult to jump, but as I've already said it doesn't take too much to get used to the weight. Plus I've hit 5 feet in the air off a regular street curb. Even if you can't jump that high, just get a long fast start and if you time it right you'll get huge air. Also you have to have strong legs for pushing off, but that'll develop. Tasrai
I chose that you do inline because skatboarding is obviously not your thing if you have been boarding the same amount of time but are not as good as them, some people are meant to board just as some people are meant to blade. I myself and me, am a inline and very good at it *note skated since five* and I also do bike racing and tricks. But if you like boarding more just pratice harder and more and I'm sure you'll get the hang of it. P.S. No offense, but your freind can just go break his back, trying to do some inline tricks or biking tricks that I can do *fractured some bones meself, grins proudly* easier ha easy ha ha ha!
Syk3
I honestly think that you should stick with Stakeboarding, but that is just personal preference. I think it looks pretty cool, and you usually get a lot more recognition with it, rather than with inlining. I think inlining looks a little easier, but that's because you have the skates on your feet all the time, and can't drop them in mid-jump. I actually chose Inlining. You should try it out at least. You don't have to be confined to one, but try it and see how it stacks up to Skateboarding, then go from there. May the force be with you. Hey, isn't the Star Wars movie coming out Tuesday? ::mind wonders off::
Mitch
Do what you want. Don't let anyone influence your decision to do what you want. I don't really like Skateboarding, but it is intersting to watch it, and I like the THPS games...but, just do what you think is right.

Guest Hikaru Ichijyo
I would stick with Skateboarding mainly for the fact -___- that was the only thing I ever learned how to do. I can ride a skateboard but not a bike isn't that ironic. As for inline skating sure there is more variation to a degree but I perfer skateboarding tricks over inline skates. :) Bet many people never knew that I actually can skateboard. Foredaddy
I think skateboarding is cooler personally, but I just said you sucked cause I have no idea how good you are at either. Cant beat that logic.
