Guest Matt
Band of Brothers was a mini series on HBO that tells the TRUE story of the men of Easy Company. It was 10 episodes long, each episode lasted over 1 hour. It was just released on DVD and VHS. I recomend that EVERYONE buy this mini series. It follows Easy through training at Fort Toocoa in Georga to jumping into Normandy on D-day, to fighting in Holland, to the Battle of the Bulge, and finally capturing Hitler's Eagle Nest. It is a story of bravery and compasion. Each man loved eachother like brothers. They died for eachother, sacraficed eachother. During on part of the movie, some of the men of 1st platoon are pinned down trying to meet up with I Company on the otehr side of town, but the Germans are cutting them off. Lt. Speirs, gets up, and runs through the Germans to meet up with I Company so they won't retreat or the Germans won't slip away. I quote
The Krauts didn't fire at him at first, I guess they were too surprised to see him. But the amazing thing was, after he hooked up with I Company, he came back.
Speirs ran back and forth through Germans to save the lives of his friends. Between each episode, there are mini interviews with the real men of Easy. It is really heart renching to hear them talking about their friends who sacraficed their lives for them. I never cried during a movie, but during this, I did cry. It was just so amazing how men behave in combat, how they apologize for getting hit, how they sacrafice themselves for others. This is a must buy. The DVD set comes with 6 DVD's in a tin case (if ur in america) or a cardboard case (europe and elsewhere). It is directed by Tom Hanks and Stephen Spielberg. The DVD goes for $90 on amazon and the VHS for about $120. It may sound expensive, but it is worth every penny.
Transtic Nerve
It's only about $70 at your local Target store. I will buy it come Christmas time or so. I have to get SWII and Lord of the Rings (4-Disc set) tomorrow so I won't have much money left to get Band of Brothers this time.
