Semjaza
http://www.capcom.co.jp/gamecube/english.html This page will explain most of it, but today was some sort of conference in Japan with Capcom. They've announced 5 games, some of which have been spoken of in the past. The games are RE4, Viewtiful Joe, P.N. 03, Killer 7 and Dead Phoenix. Of these, only Viewtiful Joe doesn't seem like a "mature" title, although that's just a guess. It still sounds like it could be pretty violent lol (I believe the director of this game was in charge of Devil May Cry... They do sound simliar in idea). There is no information on these games really, and I'm not sure if shots and stuff will be coming later today. RE4 was supposed to actually be shown in motion, so I'm hoping that turned out to be true. The rumors go that RE4 is completely real time and has a new control scheme... Supposedly looks amazing, but time will tell. The only news from this page on the game is that Leon Kennedy from RE2 is the star. Pretty good news though. I was surprised to find that all of these games are from one RD section of Capcom (I think Production Studio 4). So there might be even more going on outside of this... Konami is supposedly making some sort of big announcement soon as well. I'm not exactly sure of when though, although I've heard it would be this Friday. Thanks to GA for most of this :). EDIT: Added pics. RE4 (keep in mind this is supposed to be fully realtime, the other shots at IGN seems to be FMV though): Dead Phoenix (looks kind of eh, but I'd assume that would allow for tons of monsters on screen): Killer 7 (NO idea if this is in game, although I doubt it. It'd be insanely cool if the game looks like this though): P.N. 03: Viewtiful Joe: IGN is supposed to have video up soon as well. General Guy
Woah.. is it just me or does Leon look like Squall? :D Anyway, thanks for posting this info. I'm a big fan of the Resident Evil series, and of Capcom itself. I'm really looking forward to this new Resident Evil game. Viewtiful Joe looks to be interesting. The first picture from Killer7 looks like Spike, the second picture looks like Seifer. Or maybe I just need sleep. And...Konami with an announcement?? Maybe another Castlevania game? A port of the Metal Gear games? Gah, too excited. I'm really surprised at the Gamecube. It's going to have some very good titles out (Metroid Prime, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, and these here). I feel bad for my friends with X-Box'es.:p
NorykoAngelcry
I saw this a while ago. . and I am stunned. . is Capcom becoming the Squaresoft for the Nintendo GAMECUBE? ^_^ well. . regardless . . Semjaza
I'm working on gathering video right now... It's Insider and I no longer have an account, but other Japanese sites seem to have video as well. Killer 7 is violent... Extremely violent lol. I was surprised by how much blood there was. The game looks awesome in motion, but it was hard to tell if it was all ingame or not. I'd have to think at leasty some of it is. RE4 looks amazing. Again, I'm not sure if this was ingame or not... But based on rumors it was supposed to be phenominal looking. The wall textures alone are amazing. If this is realtime, I'm very impressed lol. Edit: Screw all that. It's apparently been totally confirmed that the RE4 game scenes are all real time. I'm willing to send any video I get to whoever. Just let me know :). Turkey
Any site with free videos? Even though I'm really hyped for these games ($250 dollars that I'm willing to spend), I noticed that all but Killer 7 are scheduled for Spring 2003. I hope they spread out the dates a little more, since I fear the game could end up having glitches that could've been easily fixed with a little more time (Vice City, anyone?). Also, I won't be able to spend so much money in a short period of time. By the way, does anyone know which 2 of these games are The Glass Rose and Project Devil? Semjaza
These games have all been mantioned quite a long time ago. RE4 became DMC, so I'm sure the development on it is pretty far along. Same with a lot of these other games, which seem to be the same games Mikimi referred to in the past. They all seem to be big Capcom titles, so I can't see them being a mess lol. I'm sure all will be spread over 2003 anyway, spring is a few months... And since each probably has it's own seperate team I'm not that worried.
Turkey
You're right, Capcom wouldn't screw up such a big deal. Still, I hope that at least 2 of the games release in Summer or Fall. There are already way too many games I want to buy (over 10) for this year, and all these announcements make my wallet cry...

James
Yep, this was huge. These games demonstrate what is possible with the GameCube hardware; and that it is just as capable as PS2/Xbox technology. Furthermore, this is only the beginning. Just wait until you see Namco's new GCN stuff...Konami and then SEGA with more software. GameCube is going to have an amazing 2003/2004...and I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo is already planning developer relationships for its next game machine. Obviously, GameCube is designed to close the lead with PS2 (which it looks like it will do, based on recent information from various developers)...and the next machine will break out early and attempt to get that strong lineup from the start. All I can say is: it's a great time to be a gamer. :) EDIT: And yes...everything IGN revealed was in real-time. Killer 7 is indeed running in real time. :)
Turkey
After seeing the videos, tears left my eyes. Those are viewtiful! Killer 7 and Joe are at the top of my list, with the rest not too far behind.
Guest Musahi
Oh man, I really hope Viewtiful Joe is out by July here in the states. After watching a couple movies from IGN and reading a bit aboout it. I am insanely in love with that game. Does anybody know anything about the american release date?
James
Ahh yes. Flash, did you see that?! Hehe. Er...inside joke, I guess. ^_^ But yeah, Viewtiful Joe looks incredibly funky. I'm looking forward to that more than any other Capcom game right now (yes, even RE4...and I'm a pretty big RE fan). *sighs* 2003 is going to be a great year for gaming...
The Vampire: Ed
I know no one is going to like my opinion, but I think Viewtiful Joe looks horrid. The first pictures I saw of the game, I really thought I was looking at a Game Boy Advanced or Color game. Maybe it could be fun, and play good. But the look really isn't that good for a Game Cube game. Maybe that's just my opinion, but I really don't care for the look of it. As for Killer 7...it has an interesting look to it. But it looks like something done on the 32X, except with a lot better shading than the 32X could have done. Once again, might be fun and have good gameplay. But I just don't care too much for that look either.

I don't see how you can post this 32X nonsense when you own games like ESPN X-Games Skateboarding and Shadow Hearts. When you see Killer 7 and Viewtiful Joe running and actually play them, you'll change your mind like you do 99% of the time. If anything, it's nice to see some fresh and exciting new games on the horizon...and I'll bet you that other developers copy Killer 7's style. I think that Semjaza showed me a video of such a game already. Anyway, I think that your bias against cel shading is clouding your judgement, lol. Then again, Joe's striking resemblence to a hybrid of Ultra Man and the Red Ranger or Killer 7's graphic novel appearance will probably affect my opinions a bit. But, I really dig the ability to manipulate time in Viewtiful Joe. It sounds neat.
The Vampire: Ed
Like I said it's an opinion. But if you have to go and mention the games I own then fine. Firstly, those two games you mentioned actually look like PS2 games, or at least a whole hell of a lot better then a 32X game. But to me, Killer 7 doesn't. Which, again, is my opinion. Also, my opinion rarely changes. I'll be a humble man, and admit when I think I was wrong about a game. But I definitely don't change my mind 99% of the time. I didn't change my mind about Panzer Dragoon Orta, and I definitely didn't change my mind about the Jet Set Radio games. And, my disliking of cel shading can be attributed to Fear Effect. I thought that game was going to be good, and I thought the new look would be cool as well. But after spending time with the game for a couple hours I was disappointed greatly. Thus explaining my distaste for cel shading. I've been pretty unsure of any cel shading games after that, and so far I've been right in my own opinions. I don't currently like any cel shading games, except maybe Sly Cooper. Which I'll admit right here is a lot better then I thought it would be. But I'd need to spend more time on that game before I can give a final opinion on that. But I'm being totally honest when I say this, I don't think I can or will be able to change my opinion on Viewtiful Joe, but I will admit that there is a chance I might like Killer 7 because of the way it sounds. Still, I'm not too impressed with the look of it.
