Zanarkand Abes
At what age does Pokemon become childish? I mean, I am 17 and still love it, but I wonder if I am just acting childish and immature. I have three friends who still play, one's 16 and the others are 18, but we kinda keep it secret that we play, but wonder if we are really the only ones our age playing, or if others are hiding it, to save from being ridiculed. What's your oppinion?
Spikey
There is not really an age limit. Don't be embarresed, you should be able to like what you want. I don't think that you should stop because that, just like it till you don't want to like it.
Desbreko
Personally, I don't think Pokémon is childish at all. Sure, the games are made so that younger children can play and enjoy them, but that doesn't mean that adults can't also play and enjoy them. No offense to anyone or anything, but I think that if you won't play a game because you're afraid it'll make you look childish," you've kind of missed the whole point of video games. To me, the point of all video games is to have fun. If you have fun playing a game, it shouldn't matter what that game is like, all that matters is that it's fun.

SSJ_WILLIE
Hey, I'm 19 and still play the pokemon games for GBC. And I plan on getting the new one for GBA when it comes out and I have the money. So no, I don't think that it is childish at all
neoakira70
i'm 16, i like pokémon, the games are fun, the tv series is decent and the card game was also gud but the games can only really be played by kids 10+ any younger and the game is kinda complicated
Guest Shift
I say, Play Pokémon as long as you enjoy it. Then, when you don't enjoy it, just drop it like a hot potatoe! :D

My little broher is six and loves Pokemon, but can't play the game. I believe that you have to be at the age to read before you can play and comprehend the game. VP-Master
I know how you feel. I'm 14 and it seems no one here like Pokemon. I keep it secret too cuz I wouldn't see the end of it if kid's from school knew I still watched the TV show. Most of my friends who used to play have gotten tired and quit it so I'm the only one who really plays here. The games are still fun to play and when Pokemon Ruby and Saphire come out early next year in the US, I'll make sure I get a copy.
Imp
I LOVE POKEMON!!! I loved it ever since I was eleven!!! I'm fourteen now. But I agree with everybody--even though there are a lot of retired Pokemon fans out there (people that don't like Pokemon anymore) Pokemon is still popular. Very popular. Very very very popular. Very very very very very very... You know what I mean.
James
I don't play Pokemon anymore, but I used to play it a bit when I was 17. Hell, I still play games like Yoshi's Story! ^.^;; As far as I'm concerned, if you enjoy it...play it. And don't worry what people say. If someone is too jaded to enjoy a truly fun game or anime, then it's their loss!
Makai Kite
I'm 13 and I've liked it for 4 years, ever since I got Red version for Gameboy on Christmas. I still watch the TV show. And collect the cards (looks at her copies of Erika's Clefairy, Corsola, Erika's Dratini, and Erika's Dragonair on her desk). I still think it is going strong. Sheikahmon
I've loved Pokemon since I was in... uh, fourth grade, I think, or whenever it was that the game really took off. I didn't know what it was or what any of it meant until I was in maybe sixth or seventh grade (I'm in ninth now), but I just loved it. I loved Pikachu, I loved Ash (not that much, actually, but I do have a soft spot for Ash), I loved Gary (don't tell Ash), I loved Gary's Eevee... Now, I love Wobbuffet, I love Gary's Umbreon, I LOVE James's Victreebel (the one that's always trying to eat him), I love how Brock can never get a date that works out... As far as I'm concerned, age limits and Pokemon simply don't exist in the same dimension.
Kaden
im 19, sure i dont watch the cartoons anymore cause i work to much but iv got all the gbc games except crystal(lol might as well get it next pay day!!) and im planing on getting ruby and saphire, iv also got both pokemon stadium games for my 64. i dont think age has anything to do with gamming, as long as you enjoy the games, but i must say the cartoon has got a bit childish mainly cause its audience is children. Juu
I had to go with twelve... I'm thirteen, and I still like it, but I'm not exactly one that still collects the cards, spends more than twenty minutes on the gameboy... I don't think it's childish, but then again, it depends on what in pokemon you're talking about. Pokemon itself is pretty non-age limited, but the anime is kinda... childish. o_o; I don't like the anime much at all. Maybe it's just the dubbing. I really liked the manga, though. *dodges tomatoes*
Desbreko
Well, the anime is actually aimed at younger kids, I'm pretty sure. The games aren't, though. I'll probably end up getting Pokémon Sapphire if I have the cash at the time. I've almost been getting the urge to fire up my old copy of Gold, but not quite. Maybe by the time Ruby and Sapphire come out, I'll be wanting to play another Pokémon game.
Juu
Hmm... by the way, is Pokemon Advance already out? I know this is off topic, but since they're talking about Ruby and Saphirre, advance must already be out. I checked yesterday, but it wasn't on display. = \
Desbreko
No, Ruby and Sapphire aren't out yet. The current release date that's been set is March 24, 2003, I think. It says on www.pokemon.com, though, if you care to check.
