as karina walked out of her room the others were standing there, waiting on her.

Vahn: so, we going on the quest now or what?

Ari: come on, we can't wait to get started.

Karina: you know there's more to this then a fun adventure.

Wolf: yes, there are lots of paraless dangers and life threatening situations.

Valen: it's not some joy ride you just skate along and end up winning.

Vahn: we know, its just we want to have a adventure. we want to go on one like you guys had.

Karina: the "adventure" we had was not one to repeat. there were to many sad memories in that one. ones we thought we could forget.

Wolf: but you never forget something like that. this is a quest were one of you could die.

Vahn and Ari just looked at each other then looked at the three. the smiled,

Vahn: we know the risks, we still wan to go.

Wolf, Valen, and Karina looked at each other and sighed.

Wolf: i got it! if they really think there ready then they should have no problem dueling one of us. lets see what you guys can really do, and if you can impress all of us you can go. Vahn and Ari looked at each other again and smiled.

Ari: sure, will take you guys on. who fights who?

Wolf: i said impress all of us. you each fight all of us one at a time. you don't have to win. all you have to do is show us you can defind yourselves.

they thought for awhile and talked amoung themselves, the others could hear small frases and words, but nothing to make out what they were talking about.

Ari: o.k, we desided....

Vahn: were going to kick your butts!

Wolf, Valen, and Karina smiled at each other and walked out side.

Karina: what gave you the idea to do this?

Wolf: well, i was trying to think of some way for them to prove they could go as well as showing us what there full potential could be. it will also be a way to warm us back up.

Valen: like the beast at my grave wasn't a warm up

Wolf: you know what i mean.

the three began to stretch and get ready. they went over spells and counter spells. attack styles, combos, and ideas. while they warmed up Wolf taped Valen on the shoulder.

Wolf: so, what happen in the basement?

Valen: oh right, you let them do that to us? thanks alot

Wolf: hey, i just went along with it. i brought the blanket and opened the door for you guys. just tell me what happen?

Valen: nothing we just.....fell asleep

Wolf: really, thats cool. you don't have to hide it from me you know

Valen: hide what?

Wolf: you know, how you fill

Valen looked at Wolf with a confused look, but this was hiding the truth. he was playing dumb so not to antagonise Wolf more. thre two "challengers" walked out and looked ready to begin.

Valen: Shall we?

The three walked outside and got ready.

Vahn: So who is our first challenger?

Valen: I will be your first opponent, Vahn. Show me what you've got!

Vahn nodded and drew the Serpent Blade that he had gotten from the attic. It held some magic power, but not much. Valen reached into the pouch and tossed Vahn a few stones for the blade.

Vahn: What are these for?

Valen: Put one in the hilt of the sword and find out.

Vahn: .... no.

Vahn charged at Valen. Valen jumped to the tree, kicked off, and landed behind Vahn and drew the IK. After swinging it around for a bit, he charged at Vahn.

Vahn quickly turned, but only to be greeted by the IK's double-sided blade. He brought the Serpent upwards in hopes to block the IK's momentum, but to no avail. The IK was too heavy for the Serpent Blade to withstand. They continued to "play" for a while until Vahn realized that Valen was just toying with him.

He charged at Valen with the blade held out in front of him. Valen leapt behind Vahn again, but this time, Vahn was ready. He quickly turned and slashed at Valen, hitting him in the left shoulder.

Karina: That had to hurt...

Wolf: Yeah, but let's see who will win.

Ari: Obviously he's going to win!

Karina: Who?

Ari: You'll see.

The fight raged on for about an hour. The only reason it was slowing was because Vahn was getting tired. The blade was getting to be too heavy for Vahn, but he knew that he had to beat Valen to be able to go. With that thought in mind, he raised the blade.

Valen stopped and glared at Vahn. Juat as he did, he realized what Vahn was about to do. Vahn jabbed the blade into the ground as Valen watched in disbeliefe as the ground began to split as it came for Valen.

Vahn had released a rapture in the ground and it was coming for Valen and the others. This would be the end of anyone that fell into the rapture.

Valen countered with his own attack. A small orb of light flew into the rapture and made it stop. There was a slight explosion that sent Vahn flying to the ground, making him unable to move for a few minutes.

Valen: I win, Vahn.

Vahn: ...

Ari gulped and shuddered. She was just about to step forward when she felt a hand on her shoulder.

Karina: Ari, you're up! I bid you the best of luck. Not that you will need it. I mean... you're only taking me on.

Ari: I'm going against you?

Karina: You got that right Ariadne!

Ari: ...Joy!

Ari gripped her staff as if it was to give her some form of comfort. She murmured a prayer as she went about 15 or so feet away from Karina.

Karina: Ready Ari?

Ari shoved her fear away. She knew it was time to toughen up or lose. She nodded to Karina.

Ari: Bring it granny!

Karina rolled her eyes as she grabbed a few throwing stars and whipped them at Ari. Ari let out a mental shriek, but tried to stay focused. She began to spin her staff as fast as she could like a batton.

As the stars came at her, she knocked them away with the ball at the end of the staff. Karina ran at Ari as she grabbed her whip. She cracked it at Ari, and just as she predicted, Ari held her staff out defensively, and the whip wrapped around the middle of the staff. Karina pulled, in hopes of making Ari drop the staff. But Ari had realized what was happening just a second before and held on as hard as she could. The whip went taught, and began to make a humming sound as they both held fast to their ends. Ari knew this wouldn't go on forever. She suddenly had an idea, and without warning, turned the staff in such a way that the whip snapped free and lashed back and whipped Karina right across her cheek, drawing blood. Karina stumbled back, not from the pain, but moreso from shock. Karina quickly powered up a small Hail Storm.

Ari: oh crud

Karina: you got that right!

Karina finished powering up her Hail Storm and released it. Ari felt the staff start to go crazy again. Ice started crystalizing over it. It took less than a second to finish. When it was done it resembled a large Ice Hammer. Ari swung it and smashed some of the ice spears that came at her. But some still slammed into her, throwing her backwards. She forced herself to not fall down. Karina was slightly surprised at the sight of the hammer.

Karina: You never told me you knew that!

Ari: I didnt know either!

Karina: Wha?!

Karina charged at Ari and leapt at her. Ari swung at her, but Karina easily dodged. Ari swung again and was able to catch Karina in the stomach, sending her to the ground with the wind knocked out of her. Ari swung again, but Karina rolled this time. Ari narrowly missed her, but the heavy blunt end of the hammer made a small indent in the ground where it had made impact. Karina managed to get up, and when she looked up at Ari, she had to drop to the ground again.

Karina: Throwing stars?!

Karina reached to her bag instinctively, and realized that it had not closed properly and some had fallen out! Ari's aim was bad but it was good enough to nearly catch her. Karina rolled, jumped up, and ran as some more of her stars came at her. One hit her in the thigh, Karina winced but didnt stop her insane dash at the girl. She grabbed a star of her own and whipped at Ari as a warning. It missed. But it had diverted Ari's attention long enough for Karina to get behind Ari and grab her by the shoulders. They both went to the ground. Karina was on the bottom and Ari on top. Ari swung her hammer down but Karina caught it in her hands and held it as Ari pushed down. Karina suddenly kicked up and threw Ari off of her. Ari went tumbling, and landed on her back, panting. They both got up, but they knew it was over.

Karina: Well that was a blast

Ari: yeah

Karina fell to her knees panting.

Ari: Tie?

Karina: Whatever you say...

Valen got up from watching the fight between Karina and Ari. As he did, he sheathed his Isis Katana while looking at Wolf.

Valen: Well, I believe they're ready.

Ari: You mean...

Vahn: ... We can go?

Karina: Yep.

Wolf: You both did well. You could use a bit more training before we go, but we have to get going... NOW.

Karina & Valen: Yes, let's go.

They all gathered their stuff as Ari locked the cottage door.

Ari locked the door quickly. She sighed as she looked at the old house one last time, before picking up her staff and ran over to the group. Karina watched the girl hurrying to get started, eagerly and unknowingly charging into danger. She sighed unhappily and shook her head.

Karina (thinking):And so it begins again...

Ari suddenly spoke and made Karina snap back to the present.

Ari: So where to first?

Valen: To that moutain shrine of course.

Karina: I think she meant where is that mountain?

Wolf: The mountain range is behind us so maybe if we head that way we will find where we are looking for?

Vahn: But if we did it that way it would be years before we found it.

Ari: Yeah

Ari suddenly got an idea as she looked down at the staff. It had told them before, maybe it would point them in the right direction. She lay the staff on a rock and spun it.

Karina: What are you doing Ari? This isn't the time to fool around.

Ari said nothing as the staff slowed down and began to slow to a stop. As it came to a complete halt, it suddenly swung back in the opposite direction and pointed with the ball of the staff away from the group. Ari pointed in the same direction and called to the group.

Ari: thats the direction we go in!

Valen: how do you know?

Ari: I asked the staff, and it showed me.

Karina: You know how crazy the sounds Ari? You're sounding like a lunitic!

Ari: You have to trust me on this one! I'm serious!

Valen looked at Karina as if to ask her "Is she nuts!?" Karina had a look on her face as if to say, "Yes, I believe she is." He double checked his gear and looked to the mountains.

Valen: Here we go again...

Karina: Yeah, history is about to repeat itself.

Wolf: Why do I get the feeling we're going to run into more trouble than it's worth?

Karina: Becuse we probablt will, and it probably is...

Valen: Why not, it could be fun...

Karina: Remember what happened last time?

Valen: ... Oh yeah...

Vahn: What happened?

Ari: Valen got his butt kicked and killed.

Valen: For the last time, it was NOT my fault!

Ari & Vahn: Suuuure.

Karina: Would you two stop it?

Valen: Thank you.

Karina: ... Not his fault he can't fight and wasn't paying attention.

Valen: ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... let's just go...

Ari: Yeah! Let's go!

Ari ran ahead, followed by the others. Valen stood back for a few seconds thinking 'This is the beginning of the end again.' Then ran to the others. There were stone statues of dragons with ruby eyes along the way to the mountain path.

There seemed to be a familiar figure standing in their way. The shadow looked like a beast with angelic wings... tattered angelic wings... It looked like it had been brought back from beyond the grave, well with it's white eyes that had black streams of energy flowing through them. It seemed to be thinking of one thing and one thing only -- Revenge.

As they approached it, Karina's eyes widened in shock. She tried to scream, but there was no sound. The beast slowly moved into the light, revealing a familiar face. It was none other than the Griffin that they thought to have 'killed' over a thousand years ago.

Ari: What the...?!

Vahn: ...Heck is that!?

Wolf: An old enemy of ours.

Valen: Now be careful you two. This thing is very powerful and can easily kill the both of you.

Vahn & Ari: ... (gulp)

Karina: ... But why is it back? ..... Uh oh... if it's back, then that means...

Valen: Dymonic?

Wolf: No, it's not him. We banished him. It's got to be someone/something different. Whoever it is must have resurrected this thing to protect the shrine.

Valen: That would explain the location, but why have dragon statues by a shrine not protected by a dragon, but protected by a Griffin?

Wolf: I don't know.

Ari: Guys... this thing is looking at me like i'm breakfast!

Vahn: Nah, you'd be its lunch.

Ari: How do you know!?

Vahn: Because that thing has been chewing on the staff while everyone was talking.

Ari: WHA!?

Ari held up the staff, and it did in fact have teeth marks in it. She raised it and slammed it on the Griffin's nose. The beast roared in pain as it began to charge randomly in rage. Vahn pushed Ari out of the way just as the beast was about to hit her with a fireball that looked like a dragon's head.

Karina: Answer your question?

Valen: Yep.

The beast roared once more as its flames began to engulf its wings, making embers fly everywhere.

Everyone drew their weapons and charged in at the beast. Ari and Vahn worked as a team for the first time and delivered heavy damage to the Griffin with every hit, but it was futile. The beast reared up and threw them both into nearby statues.

The statues cracked on impact. A few moments later, Vahn pried out the Ruby eye and stuck it in a slot between the hilt and blade of his sword. The blade was engulfed in a bright red light. When the light died down, the blade was encrested with serpents and the hilt had become solid gold.

Vahn charged in, but was knocked back. Everyone stared in awe at his persistant attitude. Was he really related to Valen?

Karina: Guys, maybe we should help him.

Valen: You're right. Let's go.

Karina pulled out her whip and shook her head as she uncoiled it. She made a silent prayer to any higher power that may or may not have been listening at that moment.

Karina: Here we go... I hope I dont get thrown off of any bucking griffins this time.

Ari: You got thrown off of a Griffin?!

Valen: Yeah I'll tell you about it--

Karina: ...Later! Less talk more diversion!

Ari: ...somebody's embarrassed!

The group moved in, trying to divert the creatures attention from Vahn... or something like that. They attacked from all sides, with magic and physical attacks, but without much luck, none seemed to even faze it... it was like a repeat in history, only this time, the beast was not going to die... at all. But still they tried. Ari grew tired of using magic and started trying to whack the Griffon with her staff again, only to be swatted away. Karina watched Ari tumble away and shook her head.

Karina: Oh crud.... Valen, Vahn, Wolf! Finish your attacks, I'm gonna try to make on open spot for you guys to hit!

Wolf: Alright! Just don't pull anything stupid.

Wolf recived a look that definatly said 'you're kidding? right?' from Karina as a reply

Wolf: You people are impossible sometimes!

Karina waited until attack and lashed her whip out. She watched as it wrapped around its neck, just like it had for the hellhound. She pulled as hard as she could, and felt the whip go taught, she was not trying to do anything more than create a diversion for the griffin so the others could strike the griffins unprotected neck... not like they would actually be able to kill it, considering it wasnt exactly alive anymore. She wasn't really paying attention to what everyone else was doing at the moment.

Karina: Anytime now! ...whoa!

The beast shook its head to the side and yanked her along for the ride. She fell flat on the ground and put her hand in the air signaling that she was still ok.

Karina: The ground broke my fall! Need I say it again?

Valen: How many times is it now?

Wolf: two at last count

Karina sighed and called to the others.

Karina: Actually, it's three now!

OOC: What the ficking hell? This is a set story and you cannot post in the rpg. This is your final warning. Good day.

IC:

Valen stared at the Griffin for a few moments before getting ready to charge in. Magic wouldn't work, nor would physical attacks anyway.

Valen: Well, here goes nothing!

Valen charged in, katana drawn and ready to start slicing. As he approached the beast, the blade began to glow a crimson color. He swung at the beast, barely missing the neck, and being bucked back by the beast just as Karina had been bucked off.

Valen: ... ow...

Valen got up from the ground and ran toward the beast, only to be stopped again. This went on every time he tried to attack the beast. It was beginning to prove futile.

Karina leapt to her feet and lashed her whip at the griffin again. Getting it to hesitate for a few moments in its raging and haphazard attack pattern.

Karina: Hey! Bird brains! Over here! Remember me?!

The griffin sorted and turned to fix it?s lifeless eyes upon the girl, it screeched and snorted again as if to reply to her question.

Karina: Oh good, so you do! Then maybe you?ll remember this!

Karina held up her right hand which was glowing an ice blue colour and seemed to have ice crystalizing over her very flesh, yet she could still move her fingers with ease even with her knuckles frozen over. Smirking at the strange hybrid creature she ran at it again and lashed her whip so it wrapped around the griffin?s neck again, was she insane? Hadn?t she tried this already and failed? As she had guessed the creature began to buck and shake again because of the whip. She used this as her way up, when it lunged the opposite way she deliberately let herself be thrown into the air until she was right over the back of the creatures neck, that was when she dropped her whip and with her non frozen hand, grabbed onto the fur of the griffin. Somehow avoiding the two inferno?s that were the griffin?s wings as they beat in vain she crouched down upon the back on the monster. Focusing for a few moments longer she waited until her left hand was crystalized as well, she smiled wickedly.

Karina: This had better work dammit... Frozen Touch!!

That was when she brought both hands down hard upon the same spot she had tried centuries ago. The ice from her hands seemed to move like water from her hands onto the back of the griffin. Just like it had back then, it seemed to fizzle out, leaving only a bit of frost upon the fur of the griffins neck and merely numbing the griffins neck partially, doing no real damage. She could have sworn she had heard the beast snicker.

Karina: YOU LIKE MOCKING ME DON?T YOU?!... WHOA!

The griffin reared up and screeched, sending Karina sliding down it?s back. She was not going to fall off this time. Reaching out for something to grab onto, amazingly, she somehow caught hold of the tail of the monster. The beast turned its monestrous head around and seemed to glare at her. Karina deathglared it back and clung for all she was worth to the fuzzy lions tail.

Karina: I?m NOT falling off this time!... You hear me? I hate repeating history!

It was then that Ari got up enough bravery again, ran up and slammed her staff down upon the griffins leg. Managing only in distracting it from the nuisance clinging onto it?s tail for a second and went after the little descendant.

"Now you die, Griffin....................again."

Valen said with a smirk as he looked at the Griffin. He gripped his katana very tightly as he hoped that this would work. He brought it to waist level as the blade began to glow a golden color. Valen charged at the Griffin one last time to deliver the blade to the beast's face.

Valen: I have sworn to myself five seconds ago that I will kill you. You are no longer my concern after this. PREPARE TO DIE AGAIN! HOLY SLASH!

With that, he jabbed the blade into the Griffin's skull right between the eyes. The beast reared back in pain as Karina still hung on for dear life.
