How do you like the new skin?

Subtlty's often best when using colour. You don't want something that looks like it came from a playschool or anything. Um... for example, the three buttons at the top of the header- you wouldn't want that colour for more than those three buttons. Having it everywhere else would look far too garish. But you do need some colour variation. At least it wasn't all black.

Hardly! It was a nice skin... not too bright, not too dark... easy to read the posts, easy to see everything... It was just a nice skin... And I liked the banner thing at the top too. :)

I like the skin....the one prob I can see is that, sure you took colors away...but dont take them ALL hehe...Anyway, Im still sticking with this industrial...its neat and new.

It also has small things like "user cp" instead of "profile" I liek that...Never realy liked that "profile" button...heh

Dude, this skin totally rocks, Shift! (Sorry I wasn't online)

I love all of the images, especially tha banner. They are all so original looking, it's...awsome! It deffinitly has a new feel to it, but I was kind of looking for a change. The only thing is that the last "s" behind the banner sticks out a bit on the right, the screen is a tad wide for us 800 x 600 people, and where they welcome the newest member kind of goes down to the next line and screws it up.

Other than that...perfect.

Profile>Edit Options> Go down to wear it says Style Set and change it to "Industiral Otaku"

On a side note, you should really read the post before you post in it. It was already explained as to how you change it.

I must admit I am not a fan of this, for many reasons. Some of which people who I talk to from here might know, the rest I will just say here.

I do not like the top image at all. I realize James made some changes to the image, but it is still straight out Shift. I'm just not a fan of the style as it has been played out to death already by countless other images that have been shown to me, or on these boards.

In terms of the actual forum, the colors are all just way too simliar. I do like monotone images, and this idea to an extent, but for a message board where you are trying to read so many things... I think there should just (at least) be some contrasts. There simply aren't any in this skin. The icons that signal a forums status (read, new, etc) are just too simliar as well. I do like the little "user info" section at the top, but I feel a lot of the stuff included in it is better left at the bottom.

Once you are actually reading each thread... There is little contrast between posts (I honestly liked that every other post on the other skin is grey). There is no seperation between the poster and the actual post... It just looks like a table was stuffed in with some incredibly plain cells. In fact, the entire design looks like this.

The incredibly formal Times New Roman font just doesn't fit the personality of these boards either (nor does the actual design really). My main problem is that instead of OB having its own little theme -- one that was simple, bright but not cliche or overused -- this skin makes it look like nearly every other board I've been to. There is nothing to it that catches my eye at all.

I also really do not like the fact that you see the persons posts per day; we already have people complaining and fighting over post numbers and status as it is. The Post Options seem really out of place as well. They seem better left at the bottom of the post.

If other people like it, that's cool. But instead of feeling like OB, all it feels like to me is "Ode to Shift."

The colors are really good, the banner could get quite annoying and it doesn't have that simplicistic banner feel like all of the other Versions had. The thing above the banner where it says "OtakuBoards.Com." Its really ugly, and the font is bad, I would suggest you take it out... But thats just me....[/size]

Yeah, I agree with that. I think this skin would do better with the "Verdana" font, rather than the "Times New Roman."

I use 1024x768 when I am at home, I even used to run one higher than that. A graphics artist who plans on putting things on the web should take all resolutions into account. Especially when in comes to message boards.

The top banner shouldn't stretch an 800x600 resolution too much... the banner itself is only 761 pixels wide... anyway...

I'm using it so I like it.. but... who knows... the other one was easier to read (font bigger, usernames bold, etc) while this one will take some time to get used to.

its more like....think of it in the sense that this is a skin...a new face...a new look.. it HAS to not match ob... otherwise it wont be fit to be called industrial..

a lot of the AGIANST comments are placing bias on the fact that it doesnt feel like home, its not OB. WELLL OF COURSE NOT!!!!!! Its a frikkin skin...its made to make OB look and feel different. If it was called "OB, with a twist" than maybe ook cool..but if its name is "industrial" ...course its gona look bland and formal...honestly wth do you guys expect..

Its a critique on the Skin.. not how it suits your idea of what OB should be.

Maybe you should take your advice and realize that it's a "critique to a skin" MK. Not everyone is going to like it, and not everyone is going to sit and kiss butt. I'm not sure why you feel some huge need to defend it, but it seems like you're just going to start arguments.

I'd expect new sklins to somehow capture OB's personality slightly, but this one fails to completely for me. It's my opinion, as well as some other people's. Get over it.

I really like this skin better than the last one. In fact I didnt know if I wanted to join this place or not because of the last skin, but now that the new one is in I like this place alot more! And nothing but the skin changed!
