Raquel
Ok... My mother has the foulest taste in music and I need revenge... Badly... Preferably somthing that'll piss her off... Now... I'm looking for dark gothic bands, or loud punk/metal... I've been refered to Sevendust and Mudvein for a start (not that I'm prepared to listen to my crackie brother)... Anyone have any ideas? Too many is not enough so feel free to give out anything that comes to mind...
wrist cutter
Don't be so cruel to your mother. She brought you into this world after all. What does she listen to?
Raquel
*crosses her eyes* She's not my Bio mother... -.-" She listens to Elvis... And weird variations thereof

Raquel
*twitches* Be glad I am willing to forgive you... This time... That was one of the single most annoying "songs" ever... If you had read above, you would know what I'm looking for... *dunks her head in ice water*
Schrat
hehe, yeah annoying I know...Umm try Motorhead, "timr to the play the game" is a good one they do...
Transtic Nerve
Elvis is real music... unlike half the crap you find today. How does one NOT like Elvis, I mean... you don't have to prefer his style of music, but i find it hard that you find it absolutely repulsive then you go out to listen to groups that are loud punk/metal... yeah there's an irony for ya. Try Sevendust, who actually have good rythem and good vocals. Godsmack. Just don't slip into that Slipknot whole that so many people fall into. For some reason they can never climb out... oh the horror! THE HORROR!
Semjaza
I'm not a fan of Elvis whatsoever, and simply do not like the music enough to ever actually pay for it. I don't find it unbearable to listen to though. My parents always listened to classic rock stations that played stuff like Pink Floyd, The Beatles, The Doors, Rush, etc. I still like that stuff (especially The Doors). You'll only have to drive with your mom so long... You'll get your own car eventually and you can play your music as loud as you want in it. I'm sure that would piss people off and break their ears. I've already had some people yell at me for blasting Bile songs.
Manic Webb
I'm with Semjaza. I could live through listening to an Elvis song, but I don't really like his songs. Maybe "Jailhouse Rock" but that's it. I can't really think of any songs you could play...
Sara
I dun know about any dark goth and/or punk bands...but if you want to annoy someone, play Raffi. Yeah, the children's song guy. Loudly and nonstop.
PiroMunkie
Umm, I would say Straight Faced is pretty loud and "obnoxious" to those that do not enjoy that genre of music. They are a hardcore/punk-ish band. In terms of metal, I would say Static X. Anything off their first album Wisconsin Death Trip. I prefer "I'm With Stupid (He's a loser)". I know my mom cannot stand them. Then again, aside from ska, she cannot stand pretty much anything I listen to.
Syk3
I really don't like my parent's taste in music either, but is it actually possible to these days? You have your parents who grew up in the 60s or something, and then you've got teenagers; it's not going to happen. They usually listen to classical music and such, deffinitly not my type. But then, I don't actuall go crazy over music, so it's not that big a deal, unless they try to change the radio to such in the car.
Guest Matt
My parents listen to country music, which I HATE. But they only listen to it in the car. So to fix that problem, I got them hooked on audio tapes and buy a new one everytime the old one finishes. I have not heard any country music in a long time. :)
Devidramon
I think every generation hates the music of both the generation before it and the generation after it. And I despise Elvis. I wish he was alive just so I could hunt him down and shove him into a septic tank.
Manic Webb
When it comes to my parents' opinion on the music of my generation, my mom listens to more hip-hop than I do. It's actually pretty disturbing. She's been into rap for as long as I can remember. I'm probably the only teenager who tells their parent to turn down that darned rap music. My parents are from the 70's, and I like their music more than that stuff people put out in the 60's. Plus I like a whole lot of other genres, so it's usually specific artists and bands that I don't like. My dad on the other hand, doesn't like anything released after the early 1980's. My entire family drives him crazy. :) I guess you could say I lucked out, musically.
Lady Asphyxia
Personally, I like most of my mums music. I really like my friend's dad's taste in music; Jazz mainly. I can stand most types of music. As for your mum...I'm not sure. I can't compare to most parents I know; my mum finds the merits in almost all music I listen to. Sorry I can't help.
Solo Tremaine
I have that problem too. I like jazz, anime music and film soundtracks and my mum likes them as well. She keeps asking me to make tapes of my CD collections. Hoi! Anyway, what's so bad about Elvis? I love Suspicious Minds. But, maybe something like Pink Floyd would upset her, if you really felt you had to do that. I don't see the point, personally. It's not like she deliberately plays the music to annoy you, is it? Guest Morph
If I were you... I would listen to like heavy metal, like Red Harvest or Skinlab. Slipknot isn't that heavy, their good though. Or listen to Stone Sour... You could even try Coal Chamber. But if you want Punk, I would just listen to like Anti Flag or Flogging Molly. Also TN, Slipknot is a great band. Don't be so crappy like that. I hate Elvis, the only music hat I DO listen to is punk and metal.

They are good, too. I second that option.
But if you want Punk, I would just listen to like Anti Flag or Flogging Molly.
Flogging Molly is more of a fun band, not really all that annoying to parental figures. Anti-Flag is a possibility, but you have to make sure you get one of there more angsty songs. Some of them are moreso just for humor. Another good metal-ish band is Taproot.

PiroMunkie
I personally do not listen to Elvis. I have nothing against him, I just do not enjoy listening to his music. You have to give him some credit, though. He is, after all, the Kinf og Rock and Roll. If it was not for him, chances are many of the bands we listen to today would not exist.

Like nails on a chalkboard... You can only stand so much... Kent
Ah ha! just kidding. But for real, I dont have to worry about this except maybe once in a blue moon. The real curse I got from my mothers music is that when all of my friends discovered certain types of music during high school, I had been listening to it for the last 10 years thanks to my mom. That meant I was just plain sick of the crap. It was mostly classic rock and really alsorts of other stuff. But needless to say, I would rather have mi madre listen to rock and roll rather than anything else. Long live rock. sorry for the rest of you though.
