Kent
Well I was gonna put this in another thread, but it deserves its own topic. The long debated history of spike, julia, and vicious. Where to begin, well I would start with a game of pool. After watching and recording "ballad of fallen angels." tonight, I saw and then realized something about the history of these three. If you watch the episode and pay close attention to the flash backs, you will notice that during the scene where julia first noticed spike she was playing pool with... vicious. So this brings me to another point and question from another thread. During another episode (not sure which) and another thread (not sure which), myself or someone else brought up the flash back scene of a possible julia and vicious in bed together. Its true if you ask me. The pool game that julia and spike first notice each other is the same game that julia and vicious were already in the middle of. My theory is that julia and vicious had a relationship before spike came into the picture and that is just one more reason why vicious and spike are such horrid enemies. So, did any of you notice, what do you think? What is the past between the three? lets hear it! Any ideas or suggestions would be loved, I would absolutly love to hear something to further this topic. Please give me your view.
Shy
Here is how I think everything played out.

Spike and Vicous work together in the Syndicate and become friends.
Spike loves Julia
Vicous loves Julia
Julia is an idiot, and she can't make up her mind about who she likes.
Vicous likes the bloodshed of the syndicate, and begins to organize his own group that will take it over one day.
The constant bloodshed of the synidcate is too much for Spike to handle, and he asks Julia to run away with him.
Julia sleeps with Vicous.
Julia finally decides that she loves Spike, and this angers Vicous.
Spike fakes his death, he does this so well that Julia doesn't even know that he is alive.
Vicous threatens to kill Julia.
Julia runs away fro the Syndicate and Vicous.
Cowboy Bebop begins.
But this is just my vague understanding of it... -Shy
Kent
You have some valid possibilities, but there are some spots that are just totally bogus. Spike doesnt fake his death. But in honor of not posting spoilers... I woulnt tell you what happend. but for anyone just getting to this, read my first post and give me your opinion. Just check it out as the series continues. It will all make sense by the end.
Shy
I have seen the series, gawd. Have you seen "Ballad of Fallen Angels"? Annie calls Spike a ghost, and is shocked that he is still alive. Spike says that he has died before many times, this is referring to when he left the Synidicate. PS: Now you can post spoilers, I edited this topics title. It should have had the warning in the first place. -Shy
Kent
Well ok, in that case, I guess I should remind you about how julia shot spike in the face, taking one of his eyes out and left him there to die. Spike didnt die like everyone thought he had, and hence, all the talk about him dying more than once.
Shy
Originally posted by gokents Spike didnt die like everyone thought he had, and hence, all the talk about him dying more than once.
yes....thanks? But I would like to know more about how Spike recovered from his accident. It would be difficult to arrange a major medical operation for Spike if the Syndicate were trying to kill him. Hmm. -Shy
Kent
Well, as much as I want to avoid the back and forth posting style, and the fact that this is getting off topic... I would say it would be possible for him to get the operation nessacary since the syndicate didnt and doesnt own the universe. And since they are in an era where traveling from planet to planet is nothing big, I would figure the operation would be nothing too hard to get. But one thing I gotta know... Were you being sarcastic up there? I mean you werent trying to call into question what I had wrote were you. I mean, you did say you had seen the entire series. There should be no question about the events I mentioned. So....? Well anyway, I want the people who come here besides us to check the first post of mine and respond to that please. thanks. Shy
I was just being me. What you said is 100% correct (my memory slipped, so sue me), but it seemed like you were speaking down to me or something. I can't stand that, heh. Let's bring this back on topic, even though we are being on topic by talking about Spike's past. -Shy
Kent
OK, my bad. I hear ya, and understand where your comin from. Didnt mean to sound condensending, just sorta happend like that... no exscues. My bad. Like you said though, back on topic. And lets just pray someone actually takes the time to check this thread out. And remember, anyone just checking this, go to the top.
vegeta rocker
I always thought they had a past. The flashbacks seem to support the theory of it. im sure there is more than one reason they hate each other. I am confused about one thing though, i don't know why Julia shot Spike. kmjk
if memory serves ... Julia shot Spike because Vicious said he would kill her if she didn't
Guest Chaz $
Spike says he has died more than once. With this in mind, it shows foreshadowing for the ending (which im not giving away), life after death (new series, PLEASE!), or he has just cheated death indefinately (like usual, eh?) I agree with Shyguy on his theory of Spike's past before he joins the Syndacate, that sounds right to me. If you guys wanna chat about anything else, bring it to the table, because with finals coming up, i sure as heck don't want to study. Peace out. -Chaz $
vegeta rocker
I assume by saying he has died more then once he means that he has died another life. Like he said in Ballad of Fallen Angels, he bled all that blood away.
Change
Like Jet, Spike started life anew. So did Faye, she was reawoken after 50 some odd year of being frozen. Edward never realy had a sense of time or life I think (but then I don't get why Ed was in the series except for comic relief). Truth be told all the main charachters Spike, Jet and Faye, have all restarted life. The stories in the BeBop series are about them comming to grips with their their pasts. Each find their resolution, Jet in Ganymede Elegy and Black Dog Sarranade, Faye in Speak Like a Child and Harl Luck Woman. Spike is different though. He is the worst case. He is comparable to a Phonix, dieing, to be reborn slightly different. His resolutin is found in Jupiter Jazz I/II, Pierrot Le Fou, Cowboy Funk, and The Real Folk Blues I/II. Perhaps this is becuase of his relationship with Julia. (I have no idea how on topic I am at this point forgive me).
L.A. Rod.
I think it's a good possibility that Julia knew vaguely who Spike was before she met him, compliments of Vicious. Although this may come off as painfully obvious, there is more to my scenario. Perhaps Vicious was a lot more infatuated by this mysterious woman than the show may let us know. Of course, he made her feel that she belonged to him, but at the same time tells her things about how she feels that he doesn't tell anybody else. Among these discussions is a man named Spike who is his partner in crime. Julia actually falling for this man named Spike is his own doing, as he throughout the series has some strange affect on people. .
