Thinking about the future of Final Fantasy

After playing FFX and FFT I think to myself, "FF games are too short..." So I was thinking, what about a Final Fantasy (or FF tatics) that was on PS2, but it was a full 4 or more disks long!! Now I think that would be really fun, but what does everyone else think?

Tactics? Short? :bluesweat

I spent well over 150 hours perfecting Tactics. FFX is a little shorter but still a great game.

I would kill to have FFTII released on ps2... would be the best....

Well I'm skipping over the FFT stuff...

But no game on PS2 is ever going to be 4 discs long. Standard DVDs hold as much as like 7 CDs, and can be layered to hold even more. That's not going to happen. Disc amount doesn't exactly equal longer games either.

FF games too short? Lol...I spent well over 100 hours on FFVII the first time through. And, I'm already up to about 40 hours on FFVI, on my second time through. I consider that a pretty good length for a game.
Not to mention the enormous replay value... I've never gotten tired of a Final Fantasy game, even the ones I didn't like, like FFIX.

Yeah, I would tear my eyes off I I would have to be hooked on a game that would NEVER end! EVEN if it would be FF.

I think it's enough that they do a new part to the series once every few years. I, for one, wouldn't want to watch eg Cloud jumping on every game (annoying little brat...), or any of the other characters, although with the leading females you'd think it was the same person every time: Tifa, Rinoa, Garnet, Yuna... they all look the same, act the same and have the same freaking ability to HEAL! Where are the Xena-type leading ladies?

Okay, 'nuff said...

a PS2 type game with 4 disks of FF quality material is too much.

There would just be too much exp you could gain. And if they made it so you didnt gain much exp so the game could be longer no one would want to play it because it would take about a day to go up half a level.

mmmmmmm someone mentioned FFT2.....*drool* I want that game for my PS2 and I want it now.

Ok quick poll, those in favor of short games which usually equal a lack of gameplay value raise your hand... I do not raise my hand.
Most of us adore games that have a great length to them while staying linear, I mean, dont tell me your one of those people who felt like posting here to criticise Final Fantasy and go off boasting about your ole' little Orphen: Scion of Sorcery -_-;;;;;
Oh well. Hmm personally Im only on the like 27th battle of Final Fantasy Tactics and its taken me quite a while lol. Oh well. A Final Fantasy game that would never end in my opinion is pointless, but hmm, I dont know. Personallly Final Fantasy games will lose its length value and then rise again. Enough said.

Say.... What? o_O

Last time I checked, the PS2 _does indeed_ use disks...

Something's up. Way up.

Actually, the PS2 doesn't use disks... It uses discs... :D - Desbreko

DVD-ROM discs can hold up to 18gigabytes!.. @_@

The basic capacity of a single-sided, single layer DVD-ROM disc is 4.7GB

apposed to the ~650~800ish mb of the regular CD

anyways, my point is that FF games could be a ton longer.. but frankly, i dont want to have 300+ hours on a game.. Unless! its REALLY FUN!

Don't get me wrong, the longevity of the FF-games is one of the best features in them, but still, they shouldn't last ON and ON! Even if they would make sequels, which would continue the story, it would not be good. How'd you think the games would sell if after each game it would say: "To be continued in FFXX-3!"? :smirk:

The plot has to END somewhere, otherwise it won't have any point in it. Of course, I doubt they will ever make game sthat last forever, but just in theory...

Actually it doesn't lol. Optical media like CDs or DVDs are called disCs. Stuff like 3.5" floppys are disKs :D.
