Well the problem with the Japanese Transformers shows in which Armada is based off of, is that they don't really fall well within the time line the only thing we can determine for sure is that it is indeed before Transformers Robots in Disguise because after all The Predacons showed up later on during the Beast Wars Time Line.

Though in reality each new transformer show you should consider like an alternate universe. Basically none really fit in with each other except

Beast Wars
Beast Machines
Beast Wars 2
Beast Wars Neo

And for the only other one that follows the AutoBot time line properly

Transformers *aka Transformers 2012*
Transformers Headmasters

The rest of the shows which are Transformers Zone, Transformers Victory, Transformers Master Force, Transformers Robots in Disguises aka Car Robots and Transformers Armada don't fall into the time line properly therefore they are alternate universe with nothing in common besides the autobot name and decepticon names.

Well as I always like to say, "Always start with the first show its usually the best" Transformers is no different. Also on another note I doubt you would be able to find any of the other transformer shows I listed on the american market besides beast wars and beast machines.

The CGI Beast Wars came out on DVD with two volumes. I haven't found anything for Beast Machines. Anyway, for TF and Armada, TF started in 65,000,000 B.C. and the Autobots and Decepticons were dormant in a volcano until 1984. In Armada, the Mini-Cons were awakened by humans and sent a single to teh TFs on Cybertron. Optimus and the Autobots came to the rescue, followed by Megatron and the Decepticons. Therefore the shows have nothing to do with each other except for the TF concept, and some familiar faces (include Optimus Prime and Megatron who are in every series). Armada also has nothing to do with any TF series, even some of the Japanese ones, as far as I know.

As for best TF series, the original if you're basing it on nostalgic reasons, but on plot nothing beats the CGI Beast Wars and Beast Machines, IMO.;)
