I get people books.

That's about it....

And I guess I also make little paper boxes that a slip candies and a note into and hand them out to people at school... But yeah. Gift giving, I'm not that creative.

Besides...books are easy to wrap.

...It just hit me the other day.. at christmas, the only people I usually get presents for, except for family, are workmates.. and, uh.. due to.. "really bad circumstances" (which some of you know, and the rest I don't really want to tell) I don't work anymore.. so it just kind of hit me the other day.

However.. now I know more people at uni than last year, so I really don't know.

Anyway.. when I was working I usually got CD's and stuff for my best buddies.. something tasty for people I thought were OK.. and just a card for people I didn't really like.. oh yeah, and a box of chocolates, for everyone to share.

There was a whole rank system based on who got what from me.. lol. ^^

Uh.. An easy way might to give drawings.....f you can draw.. or just steal some from the art and design forum..sshh I didn't say that, lol.

Er..... think of what tey like.. I mean, iuf your sister likes barbies, there's your answer. If your sister likes drawing, get her an art kit. If your parents like mystyery books, there's your answer... OR you couda ask for a small list from each of them.

I just listen out for stuff that they go "ooh, that's cool" about a couple of months in advance. and if they haven't gotten it by that time, I try to buy if for them (providing it's not that expensive, trying to buy presents for about 10 people is kinda tricky). if I don't really know what to get them, for girls I get jewelry that I think they would like, and for guys I get gift certificates (heh, I don't know what kind of stuff to get for guys :bluesweat).

You just have to pay attention to their likes and dislikes... You can't go wrong if you get them something that has to do with something they love or are passionate about.

Examples that I wound up doing:
I had a girlfriend that liked Nightmare Before Christmas a LOT, and luckily during that year they started putting out a lot of items based on it again. So I got her a whole bunch of that stuff.

I knew someone else who liked Cheap Trick, and I looked around for stuff about the band... but not some plain CD or shirt that made it seem like I put no thought in it. I wound up finding a hand knitted sweater with a bunch of Cheap Trick stuff sewn into it in the process. That worked out well.

And lastly another girlfreind I had liked Weezer (I do not like this band lol)... So after talking to a lot of people, and going through hell I wound up getting her a guitar autographed by the band for last Christnas. The amount of money I wound up spending nearly killed me financially at the time, but I felt it was worth it to see her expression when I finally gave it to her.

I've known others who just like you to make things... So money isn't usually an issue at all, unless the person is pretty selfish lol. So basically, I think the best thing to do is find something they really like to listen to, watch or do and make or buy something that deals with that and actually had some thought process behind it.

As for my mom... She always wants pics of my sister, brothers and I... So we took those at some photo place thiis year (man that was horrible lol). My brothers mostly just want games, so I pay attention to what they seem to take the most interest in when seeing commercials and stuff haha.

I know a guy who was on the dole (y'know, unemployment benefit from the government), and seeing as he had no money, he got everyone a Dole brand pineapple.

I thought that was pretty clever, really.

As for me, I rarely get anyone anything. No cash. I'll send cards when I can.

::Makes a poof sound and runs in coughing::

Well, I would get Yu-Gi-Oh cards...Many cards. In fact, nearly everyone I know loves little Yugi, but thats just me. Some clothing might be nice, or perhaps a assorment of Christmas chocolate. Whatever it is, you must get the idea from your heart. Well, thats enough mushy stuff to last me a lifetime.

Oh yeah, Havoc is back :D

As if.

Anyway, it's the thought that counts with gifts. A lot of people get into contests, trying to outdo one another with expensive presents. I find it more helpful to know who you're shopping for and please them with what's behind the gift.

I simply try to pay attention to others' interests. When you know someone well enough, it's not too difficult to pick up on the little things about them and find things that suit their interests.

When they find that you've found something that they've hinted towards, they'll be happy to know that you pay attention to them, and the meaning behind the gift will be much greater than anything a price tag carries.

So, I can't specify exactly what I get people for Christmas. It depends on their varying interests year to year.

For a seven year old? Jewellry - elastic, with beads, definately not gold tends to work. Maybe make up, but it's probably better to go for something like lipsmaker, where it doesn't show up in the childs lips. It'd be a little strange to see a 7 year old walking around with scarlett lips...

This idea is actually from my brother, but I've adopted it.

Even though I haven't done this myself, I think there is one gift in which would satisfy anyone. It's the gift to get for the person that has everything. A rubber chicken. Nobody has one, nobody's going to think of getting one, so it's the perfect present. Plus, they're really funny to look at. One look at its face always cracks me up. Hope this helps.
