How did you get into anime?

For me, technically my first anime show that I was really soaked into was Tekkaman Blade. Back then in the U.S. it was under the name of Teknoman and at that time I didn't know of the word anime. I don't know, there was always something about that show that I knew was different from all the other shows being aired. It was serious, it wasn't that stuff that tries to get you to laugh. I died when they stop airing it and wondered why. Today as I reflect on it, it was some pretty powerful stuff and its obvious parents would've complained about it. Anyway, it wasn't until like two years later when I entered high school that I began to learn more and more about anime. Eventually, Rick Hunter started an anime club within our school and it became history from there. With this new knowledge it turned out that all the shows I loved back then where all animes. :)

My big bro (N-man) told me about anime. The first one I watched was Speed Racer, then I got hooked to anime. So I started watching others, like DBZ, and Transformers. Then I kinda got bored with just watching those, so I watched many others. It would be such a big list, I don't think that you would enjoy it.

Then all of the sudden it got popular and everyone had the clothes and lunchboxes and the dols... I was so angry... and then Sailor Moon disappeared for like 4 years and then it showed up on this new Black of cartoons called Toonami... and then everyone got back into it... and now the world knows what Sailor Moon is....

Hmm...

Well, I used to watch Pokemon when I was 11...I didn't even know what anime was. Then, at the beginning of this year, I watched a couple of episodes of DBZ and got hooked...then I came here and found out about other really good anime, like NGE. And...that's my story ^_^

I started watching Dragon Bsall when I was 10. I didn't knew nothing about Anime since most of the ANime that I watched was in Spanish. Then I started to watch Ranma 1/2 that didn't last long though because they took it off the air. Dragon Ball soon left the air and Dragon Ball Z showed up and started to watch it till the Cell Saga then that show was taken off air. From there I didn't watch Anime any more until my friends told me that Dragon Ball Z was on Cartoon Network I was like "Wow I didn't knew Dragon Ball was in the US." From there I then realised different Animes and such that I begin searching on the internet for them and finally realised what Anime ment and were it originated from.

I was thinking about this the other day. I wasn't really into it in high school (not counting the "old school" like voltron, etc). I used to watch sailor moon in the morning before I went to school(high school). Then I saw Armitage. And since then, I've been watching anime as much as I can (fourth year of college).

Well, I started watching anime since I was little, since most of the 'kid' channels consisted of animes, wither from China, Japan, or Korea. I remember watching alot of Changoo, Pokemon, dragonball, and CandyCandy. ^_^

Not to mention Psycho Soldier Athena. ^.-

Sooo basically, I've liked anime since I was little, and was pushed back into liking it when my cousin started going nuts over Dragonball and Pokemon. @_@;

My first anime show was SailorMoon. I thought it was really pretty and that other junk. (Hey! I was about 6!) Thus, I abadoned it for awhile and the Pokemon craze began. Now I'm into Yu-gi-Oh! , Digimon, and countless others.... I guess anime is addictive. *coughs and points to username*

It was not long after I got booted out of my parentfs house in 1995. I broke my wrist showing off in front of some girls, and was put out of commission for the next 2 months. I couldn't even work because I was a pizza delivery guy at the time.. Suddenly I had all this free time.. I didn't sleep well at night, and I would find myself awake very early in the morning. It got to the point where I didn't mind watching anything as long as it wasn't a talk show.

Eventually one morning after Banana's in Pajamas finished its daily episode, I would normally change the channel. The phone rang and it distracted me, and I started into a conversation. Of course this gave the TV station that I didn't change, plenty of time to start airing its next program "Sailor Moon". It happened to be the episode where Usagi reveals her true identity to Mamoru. After that episode finished, my jaw kinda dropped. I was amazed that animation could be that serious. So I started watching it from that day on. Nothing much came of it, until one of my friends pointed out that you could download Sailor Moon pictures on the Internet.

Well after that you could pretty much kiss my previous hobbies goodbye. I found out shortly after that there was a Sailor Pluto, Neptune, Uranus, Pluto, Saturn, etc.. I found my way onto IRC shortly there after, and have been there every since.

All the diversity in anime branched out later once the local media stores started selling very limited quantities of anime on VHS. Then of course when the DvD boom came, I had to re-buy everything again. I wonder if I should sell all my VHS tapes or keep them.

How did I start loving anime is a pretty.....loving story. I just happen to be flipping channels because I usually do that before I head off to school. Then something caught my eye. It happened to be Pokemon! lol. But then, that's when Sailor Moon came on, which led me to CardCaptor Sakura, DragonBall Z, and a WHOLE WORLD OF ANIME! I'm pretty happy to be part of this anime world :) ;)

The first anime I watched was Voltron. Of course, it was edited in the United States, so I didn't know the difference.

I moved to Venezuela when I as 3, and in my 14 years living there I've watched A LOT of anime. The first anime that I REALLY liked was Caballeros del Zodiaco (Saint Seiya), which was shown when I was in seventh grade. It wasn't until Dragon Ball Z, however, that I started exploring different anime. That's when I became an anime fan.

Oh, and for the record, I got into the MEXICAN version of Dragon Ball Z, which rules... not the one from FUNimation, which sucks.

Heh, yeah the Mexican version of Dragon Ball Z was great. I use to watch it everyday but then they took it off when Gohan was about to get ready to fight Cell, I was pretty pissed myself. Then I finally started watching Pokémon again and realised that the frawings were much like Dragon Ball Z and Ranma 1/2. So I did a few researches
and found out about Animé.

Sci-fi network used to play anime every sunday morning (this was probably 10 or so years ago) and the first one I ever saw was Akira. It was excellent...mind blowing... unfortunatly Sci-fi network shortly stopped showing anime regularly so it faded from my mind...and then along came Ninja Scroll. Ninja Scroll was a pivitol anime for me because it was bloody, violent, sexual, and heroic all at the same time.

Now I am hooked on everything from Evangelion to Escaflowne, from DBZ to CB to X...I just don't like the cutesy stuff like Hamtaro and the 3d stuff like Zoids...

I used to hate Anime because they were all so stupid, Pokemon, Sailor Moon, Digimon, etc (no offense to those who like what I have listed) But then my friend introduced me to Yu-Gi-Oh, and I have no idea why, but since then, I've been hooked. Yu-Gi-Oh, Gundam, and Beyblade are the ones I can tolerate. Maybe I am just extremely weird..
