Alastuin sensed the air.

Ananda: Like you're perfect...

Alastuin: He's close. Pretty damn close.

Isthanae: Not with all I've done today.

Alastuin: Nobody's perfect.

Alastuin hugged Isthanae comfortingly. Ananda glared at the two, her rage igniting when she saw Alastuin's smirk.

Oracle: What the hell is wrong with all of you? The feuds are getting to thick to keep hold of.

Alastuin: No hard feelings, Ananda, but I love stirring people up.

Ananda: You are going to drop that habit, and drop it damn fast.

She smiled, testing the point of her claws against her hand. The Oracle sighed and gestured hopelessly...

Oracle: We're all going to die.

Kenneth: Well anything could happen when you say it with that kind of adittude.

Alaustin: .....well, when do we leave?

Ananda: The sooner the better. And if it's convenient, we should all go get drunk first.

Both the Oracle and Isthanae looked at her like she was the lowest thing on the planet....and Kenneth smiled broadly.

Kenneth: Perfect!

Raven: Yeah, for starters, we won't remember the first part of our journey...

Ananda: And for the second half, we'll all have hangovers. It's perfect.

Alastuin: Well, you can all gather your dutch courage, but I have nothing left and I'm not scared of anything -

Kenneth: Because you don't know what we're up against.

Alastuin: - no, they don't know what they're up against. Anayway, I'm not scared of anything and I'm packed so I'm I'm leaving now.

Alastuin once again strides out the door, heading east.

Ananda and Raven followed quickly, both of them smiling and leaping in the air. The two whirled and landed next to her, both marching lightly. Kenneth followed and Isthanae sighed with resignation. The Oracle grimaced and waved him on his way. This was not an auspicious begining.

Isthanae caught up with the others, and they moved in silence for a time.

Ananda: I was kidding about the drunk part. I only do it because it's something to do.

Alaustin: There'll be time for that later.

Kenneth: Listen to Miss Serious about Her Work....

He chuckled, until the water witch fixed him with a chilling stare. He coughed and looked straight ahead.

Alaustin: ....

Ananda: Lingh's watching us...

Alastuin: I care not, and will continue not to care until I meet him and he gives me reason to care.

Kenneth: Oooohh..

Alastuin: What the hell is your problem?

She spun on these words and faced him. He opened his mouth to say something, but found his throat to be too dry. Suddenly he was overwhelmed with thirst and he watched his skin crack and peel as the water was sucked out of him.

Ananda: Hey - stop it, you nasty little cow.

Alastuin's gazed flickered to Ananda and settled back on Kenneth, examining him as he returned to his normal state. Feeling a little bad about acting on impulse, she replenished him, smiling a little when he sighed inwardly at the cool refreshment.

Alastuin: Sorry...

Kenneth: No, I am.

Alastuin: 's ok. May I call you Kenny from now on?

Kenneth:... um.... no.

Ananda knew it was time for drastic measures. She flew around the two of them and she laced her arms around Kenneth's neck.

Alaustin: ....private property?

Ananda: Yep.

Kenneth: Hold on a sec-

Ananda: Nope....

Raven: Strangle him while you're at it.

Isthanae: Why me?!?

Alastuin: Don't worry, Isthanae, you're mine.

Alastuin walked to Isthanae and slipped her arms around his beautfully sculpted torso, hugging him tightly and sighing. Isthanae looked confused and rather frightened as he attempted - unsuccessfully - to back away from her.

Raven: Well, I'm a little lonely. Let's keep moving.

Haha. ^_^

Isthanae: Erm. Pardon me, bu-

Raven: Aww Isthanae. You two look so cute. ^_^

Kenneth was murmering something about the nickname 'Kenny' as Raven tilted her head playfully at the two. Isthae's face returned to a more shocked, embarrased look at Raven's words..

Raven: Ah. The heroes of the world. All slammed together right here.. And they are as normal as any other group.

Kenneth: Normal?

Raven: You know what I mean.

Isthanae: Erm... Alastuin? Could you-

Raven: Isthanae! Dont you know not to ruin such a special moment?

Isthanae: Bu-

Kenneth: Best listen to her. She gets somewhat dramatic about this sort of thing..

She sighed, this was going to be a long trip.... Ananda cleared her throat and began a quick humming song. Alaustin looked at her like she had just sprouted another head.

Ananda: What?

Alaustin: You're too happy.

Raven: You should see her when she's angry...

 • 3 weeks later...
Isthanae sighed and slipped his arm around Alastuin?s waist. A compromise was needed to be found, and it seemed it was only to be compliance. Alastuin?s grasp tightened, Isthanae inwardly rolled his eyes and sighed simultaneously, this was going to be hard to get used to again.

Isthanae?s train of thought was broken when a pile of rubble shifted and a groan sounded from within. The group wandered over and weapons were drawn. Just a precaution?whatever that was underneath could just as well be foe as well as it could be friend. Especially this close to the broken wall?

A hand flopped out from underneath. A human hand. Isthanae sheathed his sword and both he and Kenneth shifted the lumber. After minutes of careful shifting, Kenneth and Isthanae were able to drag a bedraggled, bleeding, but alive Katlina. She blinked up at the group, eyes adjusting to the light.

After a moments pause Isthanae questioned, ?You ok Katlina? How long have you been under there??

Raven raised an eyebrow, ?How do you know her name??

Isthanae didn?t look back at her, ?just do, it is my job after all?? he and Kenneth helped her to her feet.

Katlina shook her head and got her bearings. Seeing the carnage, she swore vehemently and exclaimed in a parched voice, ?what the hell happened here? Why isn?t there a clean up on duty? Where is everyone??

?Everyone?s dead. We?re the only survivors.? Ananda answered bluntly. ?Welll?there is some crazy oracle somewhere too, but that?s besides the point.?

Katlina cocked her head to the side. ?Oracle? I was supposed to go there?but then the whole mess with Orcs started??

Raven groaned. ?Great, don?t tell me. This is the final spirit that the Oracle told us about?honestly, I can imagine her gloating now?crazy old cow??

OOC: Go the informative posting! Welcome back Isthanae, Milord, milove...

Alastuin: Right, you've missed out on a bit, but don't worry, because we've all forgotten what's going on anyway. Flipping back a page or so, I have dicerned that we are going to a city, and then pludering it, to cross a lake, to get to somewhere. This is Ananda, you know Isthanae, Raven, I'm Alastuin, and this is Kenny. The city in question is that way.

Alastuin points northwesterly for a second before striding off in that direction. No one followed, as yet, but the land lay clear for a while and she wouldn't be hard to track.

The female Dragouret chuckled, then clapped her wings together and took off quickly.....she overtook Alaustin, then followed easily, gliding on the warm winds from the south. She picked at a scar below her eye absentmindedly....humming a sllight tune under her breath.

Alaustin: Are you hoping for a scar?

Ananda: Yeah, scars are cool.

Alaustin: Tell me about it...

The older girl cocked her head to one side, then trilled low in her throat.

Ananda: You know what pain is. Don't you?

Alaustin: Raped by my uncle? Father uncaring. Mother a ghost...

Ananda: Yes. My mother died, my father threw me to the wolves. Literally. But then I had to have a child to be able to speak. So Lingh and I were lovers for a time....

Isthanae shook his head and continued ambling along in the general direction of the two conversing. It looked as though they were both in a very personal conversation. Every now and then Ananda?s wings would flap and lift her back up to the warm currents, creating a short breeze that ruffled Alastuin?s hair.

He shook his head. If he were to decide who was to be part of the group, he severely doubted that any around him would be in it. His ideal team would be the crack squad members of the watch. He looked around at the carnage for the millionth time. He had a hundred times the amount around him in garrison, yet none survived. He looked back again at the motley crew.

?Process of elimination?? he muttered to himself

Isthanae loosened the collar of his tunic. The armour he was wearing seemed to be heating up. Odd?it never did that before? He rolled his shoulders in a pathetic attempt to shrug off the feeling of warmth. As a result he pulled Katlina and Kenneth slightly off balance. Both he and Kenneth were supporting Katlina because of her bad leg. Isthanae apologised and attempted to loosen his breastplate, which was sticking to him in a layer of sweat. As soon as his fingers came in contact with the metal, burns sprouted on the tips of his fingers. He cussed and glanced down at the burns, they slowly healed over in a small concentration of gold light.

Kenneth looked over in interest. ?What?s the matter? You?re sweating like a pig?? Kenneth shifted Katlina?s weight and in doing so, removed his hand from touching Isthanae?s shoulder.

The extreme heat seemed to melt away from Isthanae. He looked at Kenneth suspiciously.

?How much control do you have over your magic?? he questioned.

Kenneth looked thrown by the question. ?As much as I know. Why do you ask??

Isthanae sighed, ?Just don?t touch me, your inner fire spirit must find it amusing to smother me in unbearable heat??

Again, Kenneth looked thrown for the second time in so many minutes.

?Whatever? he muttered.

Isthanae returned to his thoughts, stepping over the last hurdle of rubble and into the clear area. Ananda and Alastuin continued their conversation ahead.

At least I know my own troops wouldn?t attempt to set me on fire?not even if was subconsciously?

Kenneth shook his head slowly, and glanced at his own hand, which was supporting the injured Katlina and wondered if he was doing more harm than help. Noting the lack of any sort of burn wounds.

Kenneth: ... Sorry. Being around Orcs, even if they are dead, boils my blood a bit. I guess subconsiously I took it out on you. But now that we're in the clearing, I should have more self control.

Isthanae: .. Just watch it.

Kenneth: Trying. That's the only thing that gets to me emotionally.

Raven: Yet you are as bad as the Orcs.

Kenneth: I guess. But its my profession to kill- Not an optional hobby.

Raven: *sighs* Your logic is biased.

Kenneth: Not neccesarily. I elminated those who were wanted dead by others. Not innocents who did no wrong to deserve to die.

Raven: You're hopeless..

Kenneth: Heh. And you arent?

Raven: ... not as much as you ...

Kenneth grinned..

Alastuin considered Ananda in all her glory, glad not to be the only one in pain. Her whole life had been lived in agony, more so because everyone else seemed to be having a hell of a time. Isthanae also looked to be having a hell of a time, she noticed, glancing back. Alastuin fell back to the three stumbling along behind Ananda and her.

Alastuin: Are you quite alright, Isthanae honey-child?

Isthanae: Yeah, fire demon here's just giving me a bit of heat rash, that's all.

Alastuin: Now now Kenny, we can't have that, can we?

Alastuin placed her fingers at the base of Isthanae's neck and smiled. Icy cold water gushed out of her fingertips and into Isthanae's armour, a hissing sound erupting from within his clothes. He gasped and tried to back away from his own skin. Alastuin laughed.

Ananda: Cone on now, leave Mr. Serious-About-His-Work to his duties.

She chuckled and flew over upside down, and summoned a swift burst of wind, carrying Alaustin over Isthanae's head and back to where she was earlier.

Alaustin: ...Hey!

Ananda: So anyways....

Alaustin: Have you ever had a child before?

Ananda: I had one once. With Lingh. Bilouhou took him for his own.

Alaustin: The White tiger on the Moon.....why did he want a child?

Ananda: I do not care to know. He is dead to me.

She sighed to herself and quietly continued on her way, a small tune humming itself under her breath.

Kenneth: I wonder if I sneeze..

Raven: Ugh. And you have horrible allergies sometimes, too. God I hope that you can control it enough to sneeze normally.

Kenneth: What about burping. Hmm. I need to try all this out in private.

Raven: ...

Isthanae: ...

Kenneth: I'll never need to make a campfire again. Hmmm..

Raven: Pay attention to where you're walking- You dont need to trip and make her injuries worse.

Kenneth realized she was right, and phased back into reality, minding every step he took so as not to accidentally trip, or something of the sort, minding rocks and roots whenever they came..

Isthanae shifted Katlina?s weight again. As he did so, more water made it?s way out of his breastplate armour.

?I don?t know what?s worse?? he said, ?being roasted alive in my armour or drowning in it.? He chuckled and lifted up Katlina. She gave a low tired moan and her head flopped to the side like a rag doll.

?Not one to travel is she?? Kenneth said.

?Mmm?? Isthanae?s eyes looked distant. He was thinking about something while his body walked on autopilot. ?I wonder?? he muttered.

?Wonder what??

?Well you subconsciously tried to set me on fire-

-I told you I was sorry-

-I know that. What I?m trying to say is, if you can subconsciously burn me, can I do the opposite and heal her??

?Well, you?re not doing the opposite are you?? Raven butted in.

Isthanae waved his free hand to quieten her. Raven huffed and focused her intentions on ignoring him back.

?Kenneth,? Isthanae said, ?stop. I?m going to try something??

Kenneth raised an eyebrow but stopped anyway. Isthanae pulled Katlina to her feet, on which she swayed slightly. Isthanae held her by the shoulders, before she fell over, and concentrated. A burning sensation ran along his arms and escaped through his fingers. He opened his eyes, a slight haze was in the air, the tips of his fingers were still burning. He let go of Katlina?s shoulders and glanced at his hands. The tips were shiny, burns were forming on them?and then they were gone in a slight spark of gold light.

?Weird?? Isthanae muttered

Katlina was standing on her feet. Albeit shakily, but she was standing under her own power and looking around as though everything gave her a massive migraine.

Kenneth gave a low whistle. ?Pretty fancy light show there.?

?Ow?my head.? Katlina placed a hand on Kenneth?s shoulder and began rubbing her temple?s furiously. Once finished she stood on her own and said, ?so what now??

?Erm?? Isthanae said.

Kenneth spun Raven in front of Katlina and proclaimed, ?You talk to Raven.?

?Wha??? Raven stammered.

Kenneth chuckled, dusted his hands and continued on his way. Isthanae shrugged and followed him shortly.
