Putin' up the old Christmas Tree

Its that time of year again were people go up in the attic and get the lights and decorations. So has your family gotten out the chirstmas tree yet?????

[color=darkblue]We have a christmas tree that we grew a long time ago in our backyard. It's in a pot and it's been through some rough times, but it's better now and we'll be using that one and we're going to set up once winter vacation starts.[/color]

We haven't put up the tree yet.

Up until last year, we always used a real tree. I don't know about you guys, but I [I]love[/I] the smell of the fresh pines. It's like a staple trademark of the holiday season.

The fake tree just doesn't hold the same value for me. Sure, it symbolizes the holiday spirit in its own way, but it also exhibits the artificial, commercial aura that's literally forced down our throats.

[I]But[/I], on the positive side of things, there aren't any pesky needles to clean up (they love to hide in the carpet), and there isn't the hastle of putting the decorations in their respective boxes, or removing the tree, itself.

[color=deeppink] [size=1]I think I might be a lil allergic to the smell of pine trees. ^^; Everytime time I smell one too long, I start sneezing, and my eyes kinda get watery. It depends on the pine tree though. ^_-[/color] [/size]

We had one of those huge pine trees growing out in the front paddock a few years ago. We used to spend the whole weekend before Christmas decorating it up, and making it look perfect.

Until a storm hit one Boxing Day. It blew right over, and brang down the power-lines that ran through the farm with it.

....now we just have this little fake thing that sits in the living room undecorated. :twitch:

Nope not yet.

I have no clue what my mom is going to do. Though, finnaly this year she has put lights on the roof. Never got to that last year.

She thinks that she should buy one, but she doesn't know how to tell a good tree from a bad. I think we should just get another, a big one.

We put up the same fake tree we've had for about ten years up. Or at least, I will be this afternoon. It sounds kind of shabby, but my mum's allergic to pine, and this one's lasted well. It looks nice, but I expect we'll have to get a new one soon- it sheds more fake needles each year.

Plus, trying to get a real pine tree would be far more hassle that it's worth, unless we go and chop down the neighbour's.

We put lots of decorations on it, which is fun. Well, I put the decorations up and then my sister takes them all off, says it's wrong and puts them on in a different way. :twitch: But it's all good fun. My dad bought a really tacky angel to put on top, but it tragically wandered into the bin...

AH! Your all putting them up so early! No one in the whole of Scotland practicaly have their's up! anyway, it will be soon i should think, about 20 days before Christmas or something. We have a fake tree, because as CWB said the "pesky needles" stab up your feet and stuff, AH! But yeah, i'm getting all "JINGLE BELLS JINGL-Y BELLS A JIGL-Y ALL THE WAY" lol, serisouly, in school, soon i'll be walking down the corridors singing Crimbo songs :D. All the toy adverst and stuf is getting me in the mood, all i need is snow now, lol....it's bloody cold enough anyway :brr:.

This year we (we being my family) got 2 real trees. One in the living room, the main tree (which for some reason died after about 3 days, but we replaced it). One in the kitchen, and one out on the porch. The one out on the porch is a fake one though. I think we have had them up for about 3 days before Thanksgiving (my mom's side of the famlity comes over every year early and does Christmas because my grandma and grandpa go to Flordia every year).

We usually get our tree a few days after my moms birthday(December 14th). That way it'll live longer, so we can keep it up longer.:D

:) Every year it's the same routine for me, I usually go to Rockerfeller Center for the Tree Lighting...there and wait about a good 2 weeks into December before I get a Christmas tree between the sizes of 4-6 feet depending on the mood I'm in real trees are a pain in the but because of the cleaning up after Christmas.

My mum and Dad put ours up yesterday.. meanwhile, I was playing my keyboard.. heh.. I didn't realise they were decorating.. ^^ and they never said anything, so I'm bound to be lazy..
