Dragonball Z Movies

First off, I'd like to say that I enjoyed all the Dragonball Z movies. I'd watch them, enjoying the plot, the action, and occasionally, the music. And then, it happened. I bought "Lord Slug". I popped it into the VCR, sat down, and then I heard soemthing completely different; MUSIC.
Not your usual DBZ music. I mean, MUSIC. As in, Disturbed. Deftones. The good stuff. :demon:
I bought Cooler's Revenge, and heard more of the same (which ain't bad.) I loved it when I heard Disturbed's "The Game" playing in the background as Goku kicked ***.
A few months later, I purchased "Return of Cooler". I again put it in my VCR, and the movie started. I sat down, turned up the volume, and was appalled. It made me want to puke  , to cleanse myself of this... this... THING. Why, you ask? The lack of MUSIC. It was just some guitar music being played at minimum volume in the background. Most of the movie was just silence, not counting the unusually subpar voice-acting. In fact, there was absolutely no music at all during the fights with Cooler (oops...SPOILER!!!).
In short, I hope that Funimation decides to bring back Disturbed and the other bands from most of its movies. Does anyone agree with me? Or am I alone in this, as in most of my life?:bawl:

I think it was a horrid idea to put Disturbed or any band like that in the movies... I think it was a horrid idea to get rid of the soundtrack in the first place. They just didn't want to pay the big buks to get the rights to it. So they hire some no-name company to make BG music and it sucks ***. And then they get rights to use songs by big name bands in movies when they know they're not always gonna have that. They lead you on, then take it all away. They should have just kept the original BGM like they did for Dead Zone.

My analysis: Terrible idea in the first place, but what more can you expect from a company full of terrible ideas. Disturbed has no place in the DragonBall movies.

I would agree with TN, the whole music thing was a bad idea in the first place. IMO, Mainstream Rock music has never had a postition in Dragonball, and I'm glad it now doesn't. maybe when the characters are trying to be silent to add to the suspense, we wont get some aggro guitar riffs ruining everyhting. While it seems like a good idea, it just takes away from the overall feel of the movie. It worked pretty good in the Bardock special, but since then adding American music just sounded bad. :p I suppose that is what happens when America gets hold of something, they have to Americanize it. ;)

Mail order them from http://www.anotherworld.co.uk or http://www.kingcat.co.uk.

Anyway, I have always thought that the music in the American dubs was poor at the very best. Lord Slug is the best example of the terrible music. Most of the time the music in the fight scenes takes over all the other sound effects, and it gets annoying fast.

Ugh I can't stand Disturbed at all, and can't even imagine their horrible music being played to goku fighting. I've only seen japanes subtitled movies, but I really like the music in them. The music in movie 8 for example really fit w/ Brolly beating the living crap out of everyone, I hope when (if) funimation ever brings out movies 8 and 9, they'll leave the Japanese music in and not butcher it w/ wuss rock.

I seriously doubt that they'll leave the actual music in for movie 8. Lets not forget, Funimation is supposed to have a theatrical release of one of the DBZ movies, and since movie 8 was the longest of the movies(the full length of an actual movie which is like 1:30 or so), then it'll more than likely be that one released in theaters. And you know, they'll probably make a REAL big deal outta that and try to find the most popular artists of today to play in that thing. I wouldnt be surprised if they were to get Eminem, Christina Aguilera, Clipse, and Justin Timberlake to be on the soundtrack of that movie. :nervous: I can only PRAY that they dont, but who knows.

I can picture it now.

Gohan is flying beside the wall, and then Brolly pops up outta nowhere and then you hear "We're gonna get...(as Gohan gets his head smashed into the building)DIRTY!!"

Right there, my friend, you have destroyed the image of the best DBZ movie of all time...

But keeping the original music in the movies is always the way to go.

I liked the music in Cooler's Revenge, but not so much in Lord Slug. Speaking of the movies, where can I get the remaining movies, i.e. 7-13?

FUNimation hasn't dubbed those movies and probably won't for a few years (till they all get done) So the only way you can see them is in original Japanese with English subtitles. Where you can get those I can't tell you.

I don know i actually didnt mind the music in either of the cooler movies too much. It can kinda overpower things but it was kinda nice to hear vocals over a battle unlike in the regular series...Both have there merits just like the old lovely battle of Sub and Dub :p

I agree. I HATE and despise all of the extra crap the FUNImation did to DBZ and it's movies. They really screwed up.
I don't know WHY they just couldn't keep the original music. Sure it sounds a little out of date (the series was made in the 80's) but c'mon. It's hella better than the crap the FUNI put in.

I like how it sounds, being that I like Disturbed. And it is allot better than some of the stuff Funi used to put in. All the little dinky fight music made me want to throw up. But I still would prefer the original music to Disturbed and other metal.

Yes...the totally original Japanese Music is the BEST. That's what Toriyama-San wanted and that's the way they should keep it. He made it that way for a reason. He got his music guy to go in there and make the music just the way he wanted it. I don't know why FUNI had to screw things up like usual.
If you listen to Dragonball's music, DBZ's Japanese music is somewhat like it.
Just watch a DBZ DVD in Japanese and you'll hear everything.
