Cartoon Network Line-Ups...and anime on television announcements
When The Batman leaves the line-up then Yuyu Hakusho would be able to return. Dragonball Z's redub will be taking up the 2nd One Piece slot in May so July is the earliest it could premiere. The timing actually works out quite nicely because without interruption the remaining YYH episodes would run up until about the time the license expired so the show might end in a big marathon ala Dragonball Chronicles. Currently Toonami's schedule is stuffed. A lot of what it is stuffed with may be crap but it is crap that companies are paying big bucks for to air. We're extremely lucky DICE is actually leaving the block. Currently Toonami is in a slump but as long as they keep airing Duel Masters, Justice League Unlimited, and Zatch Bell and Teen Titans returns to premieres soon I still have some reason to watch the block and come fall we get Naruto (which WON'T be a hackjob), Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, IGPX, YYH, the possible return of Gundam SEED, plus the announcement of if MEGAS gets new episodes (hopefully done by Madhouse since they rock) and just maybe unhacked episodes of One Piece, so we'll be getting good stuff later in the year. Adult Swim is rocking harder than ever with Ghost in the Shell and Full Metal Alchemist plus Samurai Champloo, Paranoia Agent, Scryed, some movies, 2nd Gig, and the likely acquisition of Chromartie High coming later in the year so AS has nothing to worry about, especially since Milk-Chan will likely be off the air by the time every episode has been repeated once.
I <3 Cromartie High. It is definitely a whacked-out show. :animesmil

The Anime Network has the rights to Chromartie High. So it wont be coming on Adult Swim anytime soon. Although, that would make a great addition to Adult Swim, its staying on The Anime Network.

And i also want to see a better Toonami, with more Yu Yu Hakusho. I really miss Yu Yu Hakusho. I hope it comes on soon, with the ending to Chapter Black.

I agree about Adult Swim. Samurai Champloo, Paranoria Agent, Scryed, and all those movies....2005 is going to be a fantastic year for anime!! I cant wait. :animesmil

Toonami just needs to take a back seat. Adult Swim should be airing the uncensored versions of YYH, DBZ, and RK.

FMA is an incredible show that I was surprised by. The first five episodes were weak, but it picked up steam and is in full sail.
GITS:SAC has been a good watch with great animation, and music. The characters are interesting, but the story is a little weak.
Inuyasha has been as great as it has ever been.
I really hope more Case Closed is aired. This is a great series to watch and really be entertained by.
Can't wait for Samurai Champloo, although I have the first two DVD's. Hopefully, AS will air every episode even if the all of the DVD's haven't been released yet.
PA and Scryed; I haven't seen yet, so it will be interesting to watch these shows.

Adult Swim can never air uncensored versions of anything as long as they are on the same channel as Cartoon Network. Turner Legal is the people who control what goes on in Adult Swim. Until Adult Swim gets its own chanel, nothing can be uncensored. We all want uncensored animes on Adult Swim, but its not going to happen. Will Adult Swim get its own channel one day? Maybe, but they need more content. They dont have enough shows for a 24 hour tv station.

Case Closed will be airing on Adult Swim, but not will any new episodes. They will keep airing the old episodes because ratings for it were low. I hate this as much as anyone. I love Case Closed, and i really want to see new episodes. But they have made up their minds. I wish they didnt do this. Oh well... :animesigh

They have aired uncensored versions of animes. About half of Bebop got off uncut. Char's Counterattack aired uncut. Lupin III aired uncut. The Big O aired uncut. Witch Hunter Robin aired uncut. Case Closed had only one edit in the entire series. 7 of the 9 Animatrix chapters aired uncut. Wolf's Rain aired uncut until the OAV. ROD aired uncut. Ghost in the Shell has only had 3 footage edits so far. Fullmetal Alchemist has only had one act of violence editted. And Samurai Champloo, Scryed, and Escaflowne will all likely air uncut or near-uncut (less sure about Paranoia, though).

However, they shouldn't air uncut versions of DBZ, YYH, or RK. DBZ is pre-teen testoster-action eye candy no matter how you splice it, and just a bit of blood and nudity (and nobody wants to see little boys nude anyway) doesn't make it any more AS-worthy. YYH started on AS but the number of kid viewers outwieghed the number of adult viewers, so a Toonami run was smart. RK, given that Scryed is considered AS material, might actually be considered AS material to an extent but the show actually had pretty loose editting on Toonami and CN doesn't have the rights to it anymore and doesn't want to spend millions of dollars on renewing new tapes of a preexisting show they don't even know if it gets ratings from people over 17.

Does anyone know what version of One Piece is going to air on Toonami? I mean, at this point I'm just going to assume that it'll be the regular 4Kids dub. But it'd be really awesome if they... uh, de-censored it or something. I mean, it didn't get very good ratings on the 4Kids block; I can't see something with edits significantly worse than those in Zatch Bell gaining a big following among Toonami viewers.

It looks like AS pretty much has a full plate for the rest of 2005--which simultaneously makes me happy and sad, because there are some Geneon and FUNimation shows that I'd love to see on CN (Samurai 7 and Fafner come to mind). The Mars Daybreak and Scrapped Princess (both from Bandai) would also do quite well on AS, I think.

I'm guessing it will go the way of DBZ: 2 seasons of massacred episodes, whose success leads to a bunch seasons of merely heavily-editted episodes and then once the show seems to be dead a redub of the first two seasons.

It seems that One Piece is going to air on Toonami next Saturday, April 23rd. I dont know the time, just the day. I saw it on a commerical on Saturday night when i was watching Teen Titans, and i wrote myself a note so i wouldnt forget. lol. I have no idea if the One Piece thats coming on Toonami is the edited one or not. My guess is that it will be. But i guess that we have to wait and see if Toonami is going to give the fans what they want, a unedited One Piece. :animesmil

YYH will be starting at one of the following times (written from most likely to least likely):

1. When One Piece tanks.

2. When The Batman ends in July.

3. Paired with the DBZ redub on weeknights.

4. On a new Midnight Run block.

5. Sometime farther in the future.

Ok people I've checked and this is what I got...(don't hurt me if they change it, you know how they are!!)

The movie Metroplis will air May 14 at 12:00am, right after Samurai Champloo!
All you Inuyasha fans.... The movie(affections) will air one week later (may 21) 12:00am! Then May 28 they will air new eps at 11:30, along with Samurai Champloo at 11:30, Paranoia Agent at 12:00, then rounding out the "new" block will be s-CRY-ed at 12:30!

If you feel like reruns just keep watching... You got FLCL at 1:00, Trigun at 1:30, Lupin and Case Closed (way too early or late depends on how you look at it) at 5:00 and 5:30 am

Then for all you who care what else they show..... American dad, May 12 at 11:00, Family Guy,June 9 at 11:30, and Harvey Birdman,July 10 at 12:15.

Now remember don't shot the messenger!! They might (ok we all know it's very likely) change this schedule!!!! All times are based on AS time!

Sorry, didn't mean to upset you, I'm a busy person I really don't have time to check pages that far back (I look at the last 2 pages) And I know it's about anime, but some people actually watch the other shows too! I really don't care about all the others, but some people might enjoy them.

Yeah, I heard that about Samurai Champloo coming, and I've seen the promo, a while back. I'm excited at this prospect, although I must admit, I already love the show so much, that I'm probably definitely still going to keep buying the DVDs as they come out.

Samurai Champloo rocks! Literally, lol. :p

Champloo's great, I've told everyone I know they must see it, and Metropolis. I am worried about seeing Champloo because of two things: 1. I'm afraid they may mess up the voice acting and 2. I'm pretty damn sure they're gonna edit some stuff down the line and I really do not like edits.

I'm also curious if they've edited Metropolis.

Guess I'll find out Saturday night.

What is there to edit? As far as I can remember, Champloo is much less gruesome than certain episodes of Stand Alone Complex (a show which ran almost completely unedited), and it has no nudity. I think it'll be fine.

Metropolis and Champloo won't be editted. Well, maybe they made a special exception for those few really gruesome GitS episodes due the violence's impact on the plot and Champloo's milder yet excessive blood and violence will have to be editted a tiny bit. But I can guarantee you that it will air at least 95% uneditted. And there's nothing to edit in Metropolis.

Paranoia Agent I'm a bit more worried about in terms of editting. Having the first two volumes of it I can easily say that it would have to air at TV-MA nearly the entire time to air uncut. However, most of the violence and sexual themes are vital to the plot, so OTOH it could get by like GitS did.
Cartoon Network will be showing off a Summer 2005 Kick-Off Special that includes a new sneak peak of Toonami Lineup with all the new shows as well as returning ones. They showed some anime clips of acquired series of Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, Naruto, and the Toonami original IGPX as well as more episodes of One Piece and Zatch Bell.

The special will show:

May 30th at 11 AM, 3 PM, 6 PM and 9 PM;

May 31th at 4 PM;

June 1st at 7 AM and 3 PM;

June 2nd at 7:30 PM;

June 3rd at 6 AM and 1:30 PM;

June 4th at 8 AM and

June 5th at 10 AM.
I'll probably try to catch the 9:00 special tonight. I've heard reports that Naruto's music was completely changed for the preview, which may very well bode ill for the actual show.
I've heard reports that Naruto's music was completely changed for the preview, which may very well bode ill for the actual show.
Toonami makes their own music for promos, even for American shows. The only time I can ever recall them using a show's actual music for a promo was for MEGAS and the individual episode TT promos. If they actually showed a sequential chunk of an episode with changed music, I'd be worried. However, they showed random 2-to-10 second clips in a 1 minute montage, and thus there's nothing to worry about. If anyone thinks this will affect the actual show, I advise you to become One Piece fans so you can do all the female dogging you want without having to try so hard to ruin every bit of news.

As for the actual preview, I have no reason to believe it will be a hackjob. Quite the opposite; it seems they are giving it the Gundam Wing/Kenshin golden treatment in terms of editting, perhaps being even more lenient. The preview contained unaltered weapons (surprising, given all the crap CN went through to disco-fy all the guns in Gundam SEED), splatters of blood, and a bit of nudity. If they can get away with all of that content it's likely there won't be too much editting in Naruto. The presentation of the promo reminded me of the promos for Toonami's other unbutchered animes, as opposed to something relatively Americanized like Zatch Bell or downright massacred like One Piece. Also, from the minimal ammounts of diolauge I could make out over the narration it sounds like it's being dubbed by Ocean, and while Ocean's actors are pretty weak the scripts don't do much to alter diolauge and don't Americanize things at all. It seems they are pulling out all the stops on Naruto.

Also, IGPX in the preview was beautifully animated (this combined with huge ammount of time and effort from all over the world it took to make it and Quentin Tarentino's supposed involvement means the series will likely turn out amazing), and Bo-7 looks absurdly hilarious. As a fan of TT and JLU I was impressed with the clips they showed of those shows as well. No Wulin mentioned whatsoever (just supports my theory that CN didn't really buy it)! I'm disappointed with no YYH news, but I think they're just waiting for all the DVDs to be released before they finish up the series on Toonami. Just give us Destiny, YYH, and a One Piece redub on top of what they announced and by the end of the year we'd have the greatest Toonami ever (and next year will be even more awesome with Eureka 7, Legion of Superheroes, the new Star Wars cartoon, and the likely acquisitions of SGT Frog and Bleach)!

Thanks for the correction regarding the Toonami promo music.

I'm also looking forward to IGPX; a little too much CG for my tastes, perhaps, but apparently it has a budget rivaling that of GitS: SAC, which can only be a good thing.

As for future series, Eureka 7 is indeed going to own. I'm not totally sure that I'd want to see a TV-edited version of Bleach, though. The show has an interesting roughness to it (in everything from the loud comedy to the violence) that would probably vanish post-sanitization. It's much more of a traditional shounen action series than, say, FMA--but for some reason I think it would fit better on Adult Swim. To me Bleach just has an "older" vibe than most comparable shows, including YYH.

Hunter x Hunter, on the other hand, would be perfect for Toonami. It gets rather gory at times, but the really violent parts could be edited/removed without badly harming the show's atmosphere.
