Kinetic
I just finished watching this movie, having not seen it since I was a child and my parents watched it. My family has always been interested in vampires (well, mostly my dad and I), but that's not the point. This is a great story, and the scene in the cemetery with Louis and LeStat was brilliant. LeStat seemed ruined and the setting was amazing. The movie was made a good while ago and could have been done a little better, but this story is captivating. What are your opinions on this movie? Semjaza
It's been so long since I saw this movie. I remember liking it quite a bit, even though I was a little put off by the love between the young girl vampire and the other one (Yes, obviously her personality and such has matured, but it's still a weird visual). Anyway, all I really have to say is don't bother with the "sequel" Queen of the Damned... One of the worst vampire movies I've seen.
Mitch
Ah, Anne Rice. I just started reading The Witching Hour awhile ago. That book is so slow, and I'm already on page 300ish of 1000. Hopefully it'll get better. Well, it hasn't been that bad, but it's suddenly gotten slow again. Now, to the movie. Yes, it was a rather good movie. Althougn Brad Pitt's too good looking to be a vampire, heh.
Kinetic
I also thought, at first, that he wasn't a great choice for a vampire, but it wasn't that bad. I do agree, though, it does seem to drag on a bit like your book.
Semjaza[b] Anyway, all I really have to say is don't bother with the "sequel" Queen of the Damned... It was much better than Blade and Blade II (that just ruins the vampire image in my mind).
PiroMunkie
I have only seen that movie once, and even then I missed some parts, and it is just one of those movies where if you miss something, you are lost pretty much throughout the rest of the movie, lol. It seemed pretty good though. I have been meaning to actually watch the whole thing some time...
Manic Webb
It's a great movie. It was pretty creepy when I was younger and the plot is just engrossing now that I understand everything that's going on. Ann Rice's stories tell so much about vampires and she developes the characters so well that I sometimes think she may be a vampire :demon:
Charles
I've always liked the femininity that Anne Rice has draped the vampires in. It's pure gold having them occupy an aristocracy as opposed to a worthless Neanderthal bloodsucking existence. It's been a while since I've seen the movie, or read any of the vampire chronicles, but I've always enjoyed the tender relationships shared by the characters. Sometimes the males come off too feminine, but I enjoy the humanization. The Queen of the Damned was indeed horrible. It took "The Vampire Lestat" and "The Queen of the Damned" and tried to mesh them together. While doing this, most of the depth the books featured was lost. Certain vital characters to the Vampire Chronicles were featured incorrectly or barely at all. Blech. The soundtrack was the film's only redeeming quality, lol. The Harlequin
I don't like corrupting books I've read by seeing the movie... Well, no when I'm told the movies are this bad. But the books were excellent. All of them. Now, if I can just dig up Blackwood Farm....
Raquel
I saw the movie first, thought it was great, then decided to read the book... I'm hooked on Ann Rice's stuff now (Although, Amelia Atwater Rhodes is still my favorite) And it seemed to me that the movie diden't do the book justice... I didn't like The Queen of the Damned either... A complete waste... Plus, whats-her-name died before it could be finished... I suggest ya'll tromp down ta ya respictive libraries and check out the books... My only grudge with the book, was that it was entirely in quotes... Yu Yu Hakusho!
Same as my parents. They love vampire movies...for what reason I do not know why. But the movie was ok...we have it. I just don't understand some of it though. Strange...
vegeta rocker
I loved it! I have only read the first two books in the vampire chronicles, Interview with/vampire and the vampire lestat. What i found annoying is what was said earlier how they mesh queen of the danmed and lestat for queen of the danmed the movie. half the movie was the vampire lestat! Anyway back on topic, i really enjoyed the book much more than the movie. Much more info on the vampires.
Guest Yulaw
Classic movie. One of my favourites. It's a must-watch movie IMO.
