Interesting... I thank you all for replying, I was realy curious (and because of the 20 some replies, I no longer am.) It seems that most people are in it for general social interaction with other people with similar intrests, or in it for the RPGs. What I mean by Otaku is not nessesarly your rank on the OB, your an otaku if you think you are. Hell, I pretend to myself sometimes that I'm the biggest Knives (Trigun) otaku in existance, mainly because we share a shocking amount of traits. I got into Anime over the summer, I was heavily influanced by a friend the previous school year. Pretty much all I knew about it was Pokemon (yeah, I got into that too) Digimon, Card Captors, and a little bit of Sailor Moon (It was a shock to my system when I found out they really DID have to wear the short skirts to school! Whoho! Book me on the next flight to Japan!). I started drawing for fun (it beats stick figures) and now I hope to have found some of my drawings on the [email]artist@theOtaku.com[/email] though I think I sent them in too big as they have yet to be posted... Oh well. I thank you all for posting... This has been very interesting.

And before I forget, I really didn't know there was a thread like this. Sorry.

I'm basically here because I was dragged here by one of my friends (ya you Darkmoon:p). She said that it was a good place to talk about animes and stuff and she kept showing me the Adventure forum (which I still don't get). So I decided to join. It kind of is a little bit addictive...:D

I've been watching anime since I was 3 years old, I lived in a time where anime dubs were running rapid with Transformers and Robotech/Macross. Eventually I caught the original Dragon Ball during its first run thanks to underground fan subs by a company now known as ADV Films.

My first exposure to the site was back in High School when various friends of mine use to frequent theotaku.com for anime news and for that ssj5 vegeta pic tico made. Back then I wasn't interested in the site since the info was rather lousy and my site was doing fairly well.

Eventually after a couple of months I saw that theOtaku.com was "taking in links" I sent an email to Adam asking to be put on the links list. He declined but asked me if I was interested in running the anime movie section at theOtaku.com. I agreed, and eventually joined OB the day the anime movie section launched.

Factoring in that the anime movie section launched on Feb 8th of last year I'm almost hitting my one year anniversary.

I'm not an otaku. I just like anime, and not even every anime for that matter. I only know a lot of information of shows like DBZ and Digimon (and Transformers if you consider that an anime), and even then, I hardly know everything. And that as they say, is that.

Antisocial and shy IRL? Man, I hear you there. One of the reasons I came was because thr real world sucked and I wanted to talk to people interested in anime without getting physically beaten. Verbally, that's another story entirely... I have a lot to learn. The otaku boards make a very nice social corner, I think.

I'm here cos I just never left. I keep telling people- I don't remember how I found this place. I just ended up here one day, signed up as Dan Lucking, and made my best effort at insulting you.. heh.. I don't know what got into me that day. Anyway, I pretty quickly turned myself around and ended up staying for a while..

I'm not an Otaku but yes I do love Anime. I came during v2. I was searching for good DBZ sites when I came upon Otaku.com. I then looked around the forums noticing the incredible artwork done by Mary(Topaz)and the Anime/Gaming sections I desided to join(January 15, 2001).

Why I came here... I dun' know... I guess I just liked it at first glance.

I was browsing around a yahoo search looking for a complete digi-dex... I obviously came across The Otaku.com. At that time the site didn't really work for me. After every few clicks my computer would say there was an error or something and would close the window. It became so annoying that I gave up and left the site. After a little while I decided to try again since I couldn't find another site that had as meny info on digimon (at that time I was a complete digimon freak. I loved the anime and liked reading about it. Now I've kinda grown out of it, although I still ocationaly watch the show and still post in that forum). After a while my comp stopped shouting that there was an error and let me search it out in peace. After three day's I decided to check out the forum's and came here to the boards. I joined the next day cause I decided that it would be fun to hang around for a little while. It's almost been a year now that I've been here and I don't plan on leaveing any time soon. I consider this place my lil'hang out on the internet and I can speak my mind here in peace. I don't have to worry about being concidered a freak here cause most of ya' act werider than me, lol :p.

How did you first discover anime?: i started watching pokemon one day and decided i liked anime (but i didn't know it was called anime at this point in time):sleep:
What brought you to TheOtaku?: this an interesting story actually , while browsing the net one day i decided i would look for some more info on DBZ. so i searched through Yahoo and TheOtaku was one of the few highlighted sites. i registered at the forum but my post count could barely get over 55 so i went back to a forum i'd been going to for 2 years.However when i returned to this forum i found that my post count (along with everyone else's) had been put down to zero by the second Admin of the forum. well all the members left the forum and i decided i would go with them to a forum that they all liked , the problem was that the Older members of this new forum didn't really get along with me so i left , at this point i was trying to find a new forum to post in. when i checked my e-mail i found something from TheOtaku in my Inbox so i decided i would return here for good! :)

sorry for the length of my story of how i got here but that's actually how it happened! :)

I don't think that I am an otaku, however some of my friends can sit here and tell you otherwise... That is, if they were in the boards. I got into anime when I was around fifteen and it kinda stuck, now here I am about some odd years later, still liking anime and writing in the Otaku Boards.

How I found my way to the Otaku Boards was about the same way as Dragon Fou Lu. I was searching for some anime pictures though and I found my way to the forums, I found that I would like it here and I kinda stuck around! :)

So that is MY story as to if I'm an Otaku and how I found my way here!

My brother used to watch DBZ...I used to tease him about watching cartoons, seeing as he was 20 and all that. But then I watched it one day and got hooked. So I can't tease my bro anymore...heh.

Then one day I was searching for DBZ sites on Yahoo, and theOtaku.com came up in the results, so I clicked on the link and thought it was a good site.

And after a while, I visited OB, and browsed for a while, but didn't sign up at first. A few weeks later I signed up, and...here I am. I was still a crazed DBZ fan back then, and being here I've found out about other really good anime, like NGE. But anime isn't the only reason I'm here...it's the people. I've made some good friends here, and I couldn't leave if I tried...that could be a problem :nervous:

Well my last forum site crashed majorly and I really liked posting in one. I was searching high and low and found some really creeped out ones. I've been watching my local cartoon network cheeze tv since I was 5 and still do. They started with stuff like Garfeild and Inspector Gadjet and eventually got in the Anime. They now show Digimon, DBZ, Beyblades, Sailor Moon, Zoids (Chaotic and others), Transformers and spongebobsquarepants. Soon i got a likeing for the anime style and looked for a Digimon forum, sure enough OTAKUBOARDS.com poped up and hey hey, I'm still here arent I.

I came here for the RPG's...thats it. Anime? what is this anime you speak of? lol. a friend of my brothers showed it to me because he was starting an rpg here and I decided to join...My ex Id was prolly the fastest ranking person to Otaku (at least thats what Ken told me after I had outpaced it to him)...and that was also because I enjoyed the rpgs, and sometimes the debates, though I left because of a few...err unfriendlys? although most were my fault *shrugs* at least to an extent. and Ive returned for the same reason I came, the rpgs lol. Ive never been to "Theotaku" only to the boards.
