:flaming: I was happilly playing my FF7 game I recently copied from a friend (on PC) when it told me that I had performed an illegal operation. and closed the program. Nothing would work after this. Any program I tried to open, it would respond with an illegal operation message. Simple, meh thinks, I'll just reset the machine.

That worked enough for me to continue to play the game for a while and although this happened regularly, this game is so good, I just put up with it. :rolleyes:

that was until I reached the temple of the Ancients in the 1st CD. Now whenever I beat that damn door monster and put up with all of their talking, I finally get out of the bed in some small town with a blown up reactor nearby, and it does the illegal error thingy. I tried everything, from emulators (couldn't find any good ones, If u know of ones that work well I would be happy to know of them) taking as long as I could in the game to get to the village, Going as fast as I could. Nothing Works. :flaming:

PLEASE HELP ME SOME BODY! ( I run a P3@866 [no o/c'ing] nvidia TNT2 16mb, 128mb ram [spdram i think] and a 20gig hdd) Nothing that should make the game do this. I have checked for viruses, spyware, trojans, u name it. Pls help me. I just fell in love with this game and then it went and died on me. I'll even be your friend... ;) :toothy:

Well, you sure have! ;) Why don't you try buying the REAL version of the game, it might actually WORK then? :smirk:

Copied games are all trash...!:rolleyes:

Emulators are a bit illegal, if you didn't know. ;)

I'm sorry (well I'm not really..), but we're not allowed to make any links to Emulators/ROMs, etc.

But about your problem.. I have no idea what's wrong.

Yeah, maybe you should get the real game. It could be something that happened during the copying process, or something like that. (Such as an error in the copying of the CD, causing the game to crash whenever it tries to access the part of the CD that got currupted). I mean, if you don't have the money to buy it yourself, you could just borrow the original copy from your friend.

I'd try using your saved game with a real copy of the game, and see if that works. If it doesn't, try copying your saved game to a disk or something, and transfering it to your friend's computer to try it on a different system.

And yes, copied games and ROMs are illegal, and posting links to them or sites that host them is against the rules.

First off, that game is probably about $10 now for the PC, so why risk a fine if you get caught with a burned copy?

Second, it sounds like one of the files is conflicting with another program and/or driver you use in windows. I'm not sure how to help you, other than take up donations to buy a legal copy.

The computer version of FFVII is buggy. They wernt thinking when they made it. Trust me, I had the real version and my computer would freeze everytime I beat Hojo. My computer also froze a couple of times in the temple. Go get a PSOne and then buy the game. That is the only way to make sure that you get to play FFVII. And anyway the experiance is just better on the PS. Trust me.

My PS version made it all the way to the part where the WEAPONs break out of the crater. And for those of you who remember that, you have a LOOOONG story development/flashback you have to go through first. After sitting through that 8 times, I finally gave up and went PS (system and game).

Square suggested "downloading" the FMVs to the hard drive, to make it easier for the game, and I don't remember if that worked for me or not. I enjoyed the PS version a lot more.

You'll forgive me if I say I have no sympathy, EMU. Both PS and FF7 are selling quite cheaply right now--but if you don't get it soon, they'll be phased out (I should know--I had this problem with Gameboy games). I've always had problems with roms, not to mention the load of viruses they bring with them (I've lost two computers (one gradually, one immediately) to roms and emulators). Save yourself time, space, and pain/trouble, and go with the game.

Ummmmmm... slight problem with the buying of the original. I have the money. It's just that no where sells them. anywhere. I have tried just about every game store, Kmart, Target, Second hand store in a 300 kilometre radius. :( No luck. PS1's are hard to come by these days. **sigh** THAT'S why I resorted to a burnt copy.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
No seriously, I really did try a 300 km radius. I live in a small town that has two big cities north and south of it, both about 150k's away. Neither of them had any FF7 games 4 PC or PS1 and the only playstations I found were $80+, way too much for my taste.
Thanks anyway though. I guess I'll just keep trying. :)
Please don't double post. You can use the "Edit" button, if you want to add something to a previous post.
And you might try looking on eBay. You'll probably be able to find it on there for not too much. - Desbreko
Mail ordering it would be the best option now EMU, or as Desbreko said, try eBay.
Burning a copy will always have problems, regardless of your computer specifications. Something probably went wrong during the copying of any .exe files, because if they get partly broken up it can cause an entire program to go haywire.
That's an easy to question to answer, and I'm more than sure it's been answered. There are many sites that sell the game for +$10, and PS is goin' for under $100, right? Not to much, if ya ask me.
I actually only played the PC version for FFVII, (I didn't have a PS, back in the day. ^^)and I don't think it ever had a glitch. It still runs perfectly, because my sister has started playin' it. (She's still trying to beat the first WEAPON...)
thats weird there are a bunch of places around where I live that are selling new PS1's for about 35 bucks and used ones for 35 plus controlers and one memory card.
And all of the second hand game storys have at least 3 copies of every FF game. I must just be in heaven or something.
Eh, why did you suddenly go towards and emulator in the first place. For one, from research, a PSX rom or PC rom, DOES NOT work. And why couldnt you just ASK to borrow it and I bet you didnt ask to copy it either. Thats quite rude copyig someone elses game. Youve scratched the disk internally by 'burning' it anyway, so there is not much we can do unless we have a professional programmer amongst us. *Looks around*.
Oh yes to answer your question, buy a prowned PSX or PS1 if you want a better quality game in my opinion.:)
