I'm sure I'm not the only one who notices the attitude people here have nowadays. A lot of fretting and worrying. Know what I think it is? I think it's the approaching new year. Every New Year's Eve lots of(see the future of the boards, prophecies, the truth, politically correct) people reevaluate their daily lives and wonder what they could do to change or improve them. So here is a thread for the little things that seem to bother you right now.
Or you could post on if you agree or disagree with my view on peoples state of mind right now.

I am not worried about anything on this board, but that might be because I dont post much and no one notices me.(I am stealthy like that!)

But the one thing that bothers me in my life is....The cost of Creighton. It costs so much to go there! Oh well.

I could go on for days on end about what worries me. I'm a chronic worrier, to the point that I make myself (literally) sick with worry. Not fun.

I guess I could say I worry about my worrying. That's interesting. But I'd rather spend my time worrying about others--which I do. Staying up until 2am each morning worrying. Again, not fun.

To ensure that the word "worrying" will not be banned from the human language, I'll stop--for now. ;)

I used to worry all the time, But now, I just let all stress fly away. If theres a project or something, I forget aboutt he due date and just do it when I want to and work on it at my own pace. I get it done B4 the due date but Its at my own pace..

I have no stress....

Someone: I like Takato!!
Me: :flaming: WHAT YOU SAY!!I'M GOING TO PULL HER HEAD OF THAT SKINNY STRETCHY NECK!!!!!!!!!!!YOUR GOING TO DIE!!
Everyone: No stress eh?

Ok that was the weirdest thing I have ever posted...Forgive me..Now I haev to dance in the land of Creampuffs..

Mostly, for this time of year, worry is prominent because of the whole "Xmas" rush. (Xmas commerically, Christmas religiously. Sorry, heh.) And that's bad--because people who aren't normally on the road are crowding it, driving terribly with the ever increasing pressure and loss of time they are facing.

But back on topic now. *smiles softly*

Meh, me and Worry do party together a lot. I am a fairly laid back kind of guy... or maybe that is apathy. I just do not let a lot of things bother me. Could be that I am too stubborn in some weird sense, or maybe it is because I am always too tired to make a big deal out of anything. In any case, worrying might show up with me for a little bit, but I am quick to get over it.

I really haven't noticed a change in anyone I know, except oddly enough, Jeff. Jeff is the only one I know that has changed any. He has become a lot more open to me. It is the best gift I could recieve. But I'll not dawdle on that. I have not noticed people getting more worried, on the boards or off. I've noticed the Moderators getting slightly more uptight, the tolerance level is sharply dropping. Behave OB members. ;) Other than that, the only thing I've noticed as a change IRL, is that people are starting to use me and abuse me and throw me around more. :D

I think christmas has really just become a time of worry and money troubles. So I think that becuase most people are worrying about presents and all that crap that not many people care about why we're actually having this holiday, not that it worries me much, not very religious, but I'm sure someone out there doesnt like it.

Ugh...rapture ready...

Ahem, anyway.

I really think it's hard to say where all of this is coming from. On some level, I suspect that people are posting some of this stuff just for attention; a lot of people claim to have been severely depressed...but I'm sure that few know what it's really like to be a clinically depressed person.

Having said that, it's really hard to tell over the Internet. And even though the negative topics can get a little worrying at times, I also like the fact that people can really open up and discuss things here. Afterall, what's the point of having a community if you can't really be a part of it?

In some ways I guess I'm hoping that people will confine these "problems" to less threads, if only because I'm sure that everyone doesn't want to be bombarded with negative messages frequently. Ultimately it's probably better to have a good mix of threads.

In general, I'm really not a person who subscribes to the whole "world is coming to and end soon so repent now and yee shall be saved!" routine. It's convenient, in the sense that it's once again a way of establishing control (particularly so-called "moral" control). Unfortunately, various religions have continuously predicted the end of the world over the last few decades and it's never happened.

In addition, irrespective of the factual/non-factual nature of these claims, it's mostly about your attitude and way of thinking. If the world ended in a week's time, what should I be doing? Should I be huddled in my basement with canned food, worrying myself to death? Or should I be living life and helping others in a positive way?

I suspect the latter. Regardless of what the future holds, I think it's important to try and see the positive things in life and to understand that in general, society is always moving to a better place. These individual stories of heartache and such can be discouraging...but if people can find comfort here and move on with their lives, then I think something positive has been achieved.

If someone who had anything to do with religion told me that some higher power is going to take the world out in a week, I'd tell him I hope he goes to hell when it happens and go on with m life. And then ask him why the pope wears stupid hats.
If a scientist however told me taht we're all gonna die soon, Id go out and cut some people's brake cables get onto some women who would be quite willing and then just kick back and wait till everyone realises that after we die, youre ded! D-E-D! No god, no nothing, and that people who joined religions have wasted plenty of time... that could have been spent cutting my brake cables.

rapture is part of miracoulous sign to tell ppl that God exist. following that will follow 7 year tribulation..the period of God's wrath pouring on earth. even during that 7 years, many ppl still refuse to repent..it sucks though. if there wasnt a unbeliever in the world, we wont take that judgement in first place anyways.. rapture or not, Jesus' 2nd coming is certain.

o_O;;

I'm aware of what "the rapture" is. I'm just saying that it's ludicrous. lol

Anyway, let's please not get into a religious discussion here. I think religious extremism should be kept to forums other than OtakuBoards.

Yeah, I know what's gonna happen, but it doesn't neccesarily mean it's gonna happen REALLY soon, I mean, as you said, it's been going on since 1948, we could be in for a longer wait yet..

Scientifically, there might be a reason for the negative feelings. Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) affects lots of people around the world with symptoms similar to constant jetlag. Okay, it might not be what's causing ameotional problems, but the cold (in some countries, I know it's summer in others) does affect your mood. It makes you want to go out less if it's wet and windy, and it's a lot harder to get up in the mornings when it's still dark, so you start off feeling tired and a little lethargic. All of this puts a bad start to the day, which will affect your viewpoint and outlook on things from the off. Not to mention that other people are feeling the same way, and when negative feelings collide, things happen which cause regrets.

Also, the over-commercialisation of Christmas by a lot of stores puts pressure (as Ginny said) on people to buy cards and presents, almost to the point of giving up, which I almost have. I buy presents for my sisters and three closets friends, and I don't send cards very much. This can cause negative feelings.

But, when Christmas comes, things all seem worthwhile... most of the time. The 'spirit' of Christmas is still there occasionally, but only to the extent of buying everyone else presents. I hardly see any more examples of 'good cheer' any more. I think that people who refuse this do themselves an injustice, as it does give a nice boost knowing you've made someone's life just that little bit happier.

oops..quick reply to deus. Jesus said this generation shall not pass...when fig tree(israel) was born in 1948. when fig tree is fully matured(lack of words on my part), birth of pang starts. famine, earthquake, crime rate, love will grow cold etc. i'm sure you are familiar with matthew 24. and yeah..Jesus' return is imminent. nobody knows.

I've probably read Matthew 24 (meaning "I've definitely read it, but I forget which bit it was"). Come to think of it, I think I know the bit you're on about.. I had to read it a few times over (I'm a recent Christian, so I don't know a huge amount of Chapters by name). I must admit, I've had the feeling that his return is imminent, but it's a kind of vague "I could be wrong on this" feeling.

Anyway, yeah.. I've already heard about all the prophecies coming true. My philosophy is "he'll come when he's good and ready". If that means 10 minutes from now, OK. If it means 10 years from now, OK. Apparently time-related prophecies tend to be very inaccurate these days (from what I've been told about them), so I'll just stick with a "it could be any time, but don't assume it's still a way off" philosophy.

So yeah, I think my point (eventually) is that it could be today, it could be a long way off. It's gonna happen someday though, so I'd better be ready for it.

I do think there's something. I just don't know. Lately I've been on a hugely galloping roller coaster. Up and down, down and up. You might say that's normal, and I hear that, but, these are large leaps for me. Very large ups and downs. A few days ago, I was very stressed, it's gone a bit, but I still feel it.

Beh. I'm losing my strength. All of these things, they're wearing down on me, and I'm becoming easier and less attune everyday. Heck, I don't even know why I should care, why I should try, why I should do anything. But I just tell myself it's permanent, and that helps, as it always does. I've become very negative, as I'm supposing you see.

But there's nothing else I can do. That's my only route, it's the only way when things get so damned wearing and tearing. But, of course, I've used writing, as I often do, and that's held it all down secure for the moment at lesst. For a tippy and trying moment.

Ok. Now I KNOW that it isn't a good thing, heh.

I did not mean my topic to be depressing at all. In fact, I wanted it to spark a discussion about the truth. My original intent (aside from the whole "tell everyone my deepest and darkest secret" thing) was not to make everyone feel sorry for me. While my life may not be perfect, I know that there are millions of others who are in much worse situations than I am. I would never try to put my problems before anyone else's.

Anyway, yes. It sounds silly to say this, but I find the holidays depressing because of all of the time I have to spend with my family. The last thing I want to do on a "vacation" is spend all of my time with people who don't understand me (or if they did, would not be very tolerant at all).

People are always trying to reevaluate their lives and improve themselves. It is part of human nature. If people never tried to make this generation better than the last, society would never progress. Worrying is just something that we do, there isn't anything wrong with it. Something would be wrong with my life if I weren''t always worrying about something.

Thank you for my daily dose of icy stomach fear.

Moving along, I haven't noticed any 'prophecies' as to the world's ending date. Then again, I live in an extremely rich suburb of Baltimore, (this is not fun when you are middle class). So, I don't really see many people who believe that the world is going to end.
