The guy(s) who did the music wouldn't give up their rights to the Americans. So FUNimation had to improvise, albeit, poorly. They could have done much better. I guess they got the rights for the original DB and for the very first movie, but actually I don't think they did when they dubbed that. Pioneer and FUNi both I think had the rights to DBZ back then and then sold it all over to FUNi after the first 50 episodes or so. When the voices changed from Ocean Group to Funi's **** actors. I think when Pioneer did the first movie, they kinda forgot the music and left the original in there. It was taken out later. So if you have that movie with the original music in it, you're lucky. but yeah, thats why. They really could have gotten better music producers... but yeah...

Some of the music could be better. Like the 'flashback' music, or the Android theme. But I find that I absolutely love Vegita's theme, as well as Buu's [Both Evil and the Fat-***]. But I remember the original music from DBZ oh too well. Too bad they couldn't make the games' music as good as the series'...:(

When I am watching DBZ my mother and sister comment on how bad the music sounds. They have never watched a whole episode or a japanese ep. but they agree with me that the music is just plain bad. I don't like it. Some parts during the show there is some ok or good music but that is on rare occasion.

The American music is very cheesy at the best of times, like with the Movie specials (but that's another topic)

FUNI have made it any more cheeiser?!? They already screwed up the whole series by making it here in America in the first place!!!! I just have a really bad opinoin of them, that's all.

Yah, FUNi do some pretty pathetic and stupid things, you'll find alot of OB hate FUNi, for obvious reasons such as music. Could it get any more cheesier? Yes they could! They could have some lone guy playing a midi keyboard. Just imagine having the most awesome fight between Vegeta and Goku ruined by some rinky dinky midi file, ugh, better shut up before i give the masters of cheese ideas :p

Polka.....????

*shakes head*

I dunno....I think that maybe Polka is hella better than Funi's crappy theme....
Actually, polka is one of Funi's themes. Lets not forget about the music that played when Buu was at the carnival, when that midget Spice Boy began to step on Gohan, a few times durin the battle of Goku and Android 19(damn, I cant even think of his Japanese name at the moment.), and a few other times of DBZ. *shudders* Now thats the WORST bg music that I've ever heard in my entire life, especially for a fight scene.

Japanese music is so cool, but you must remember the American DBZ music is SO much better than the UK music. The UK episodes are appalling for some of the music, we dont even get Vegeta's kickass theme. I've watched the US episodes and believe me, there a big improvement to what we have :(

I'm guessing you don't like Dragonball.....
Brilliant deduction, Sherlock.

Anyway, I don't mind the American music to DBZ. As a matter of fact, I, too, love Vejita's music.
