Charles
Originally posted by James You're now eating your words, Charles? Why? Because the game looks impressive? Didn't you say that your reasons for disliking it were gameplay-based? Hmm... ~_^
Yeppers. The game doesn't look as bad as I thought it would. I'm a vain sonofagun, so I'm excited that it doesn't look as poor as I initially thought it would. The new characters make feel all warm and fuzzy too, even though they're probably going to use preexisting move sets. I'm still a little skeptical when it comes to the gameplay though. If I was wrong about the visuals, maybe I'll be wrong about the mechanics and such. Maybe. I agree about that tunic though. Damn Jabroni won't leave me alone about Link's private parts! >_<

But still, they didn't have to add that shading down there on the tights, so that it looks almost kind of realistic. In SSBM, you got all sorts of weird shots, but it was just flat white polygons, with no shading, nothing.
Sephiroth
Here's a vid featuring the new characters http://www.gpara.com/movie/20030115_6.htm Looks like Heihachi will be my new character in SC2, lol

I don't know where the visual concern came in. Secondly, we all know by now that the visuals of the game are not at all tied to the gameplay. The new characters, for example, will have entirely new sets of moves. Link even has a "bomb move". You should do a little more research, Charles. ~_^
I'm still a little skeptical when it comes to the gameplay though. If you enjoyed the original Soul Calibur, you will love the new one. There is no evidence or information to support the idea that gameplay hasn't improved in a substantial way. And once again, the visuals and gameplay are not tied together like that. ~_^
I agree about that tunic though. Damn Jabroni won't leave me alone about Link's private parts! >_<
That doesn't surprise me. Jabroni's fascination with the entire game will rest with Link's crotch. And I'm sure that will be the focus of discussion for those who want to bash the GCN version of the title. It's cheap and without substance. But does it surprise anyone?

Then Heihachi will probably be the best character in SC2 for PS2, but only if they havn't changed the properties for 3 certain moves I have in mind with Heihachi
James
The reason I didn't mention Heihachi is because he's an existing "Namco fighter" character, if you know what I mean. But with Link/Spawn/etc, the moves are 100% new apparently. I think it'd basically be pointless to have new player "skins" whilst still having the same old moves.
Sniglefager
but wait. Isn't Soul Calibur a weapons based fighting game? Then why would Heihachi be in it? I mean, Spawn has that Axe thingie, and Link has the master sword....what does Heihachi have?
Red
In the original Soul Calibur on the PlayStation there was a combat system for when your weapon snapped, so I suppose it's fine for Heihachi to fight without a weapon. However, he does have those funky spiked shoes. -_-
Guest Musahi
The only thing that pisses me off about the exclusive characters is that Playstation 2 gamers are stuck with Heihachi. Sure Heihachi is a great character who I enjoy playing as in Tekken 4. But that is just the point, I already have him in Tekken 4. -_- I want to play as Spawn damnit.

I recently have gone to a few arcades and played that version of the game. My only gripe is how easy it is. It costs two quarters, and I only used those two. A five year old could beat this game no problem. It almost put me to sleep. -_-
