Manic Webb
Aside from Christmas, what other holidays do some of us celebrate this time of the year? (excuse my spelling, if it's wrong) Who just finished celebrating Channukah? Who's going to celebrate Kwanzaa? Who celebrates Winter Solstice? Who doesn't celebrate anything at all? What are some of the stories behind your holidays? Personally, I only celebrate Christmas. I'm just curious about some of the other holidays this time of the year. Phantom
I dont celebrate any of the other wicked things that are going on during this season. Unfortunately.... But, I think that in the end... we are all celebrating the same moment caught in each different religion/beleif. And even if it does not consist of our 21'st century customary gift giving/receiving... Its all a good time to celebrate added time off... no? :)
Juu
I celebrate Children's Day. ^_^ Children's day is on my birthday, and it's a Korean Holiday where the parents buy their kids alot of Candy and flowers. ^^ Then, of course, Chinese New Year, and I always have to bow to my grandparents, family, friends of family...etc. I also have to helpp my parents make Gojas for the big party, too. Valentine's and Easter are my all-time favorites ^_^ I always enjoy getting candy, (duh), and I really enjoy giving candy/valentines to other people. Easter's just fun. I have to hide the eggs for my baby cousins, and it's fun watching them compare how many they found. ^^

Bing
Well, I suppose for me there are 3 major events around this time. Halloween, because you get loads of sweet and chocolate and money. Christmas, because you get to see family and friends, and sometimes it snows. Oh, and presents, how could I forget the presents! :P New Years Eve, because there is normally a big party, and I get to see family again etc. They are the best things about this part of the year! The Harlequin
Not exactly celebrating, but I always mark the winning of another round by those corporate bastards who instituionalise everything and make everything appeal to the rest of the consumerist bastards we call society. You know why all those "disaffected youths", or whatever you want to call them, dislike all that kind of thing? They hate Christmas shopping and the like. 4 times out of 5, that's what it is. It's just an intelligent excuse to get out of it. I just need something to gripe about.... 53rd time....
Posthumous
I celebrate Ramadan. It's a Muslim holiday wher you fast for 30 days. What you do is wake up before sunrise.Eat as much as you want. Then you don't eat for another 12-24 hours. It shows us how poor people live.

Fall
Christmas and New Year aren't that big for us. We just usually have a big salad dinner or something.....and a few gifts. We do this for Easter, Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Year's Eve. Not much else.
conpiracymonki
Like Mztik_Gohan10, I'm a Muslim. I celebrate Eid. One after Ramadan, where everyone celebrates and family meet and stuff, having just fasted for 29-30 days; and one in two or three months' time, to celebrate behind the story of Ibrahim AS (Abraham) and Isma'il AS (Ishmael)

Well I'm not a Muslim, but I thought the fasting was meant to purify the soul. And the fasting is for daylight only. So the time of fasting depends on where you are in the world. In some places during Ramadan fasting each day can be longer than other places. You can only eat before sunrise and after sunset, which means it is usually less than 12 hrs. Not trying to be a smart-a**, just trying to clear some things up. :D
Dan L
Originally posted by Mnemolth You can only eat before sunrise and after sunset
For some reason I've been doing that a lot lately.. mostly out of laziness and lack of appetite.. (no, I'm not a Muslim.. heh) Personally, I only really celebrate Christmas ad Easter, as far as I know.. *thinks*.. I'll get back to you on that..
