Anyone excited about F-Zero for GC?

I recently saw screens for F-Zero on the GC and it looks incredible, an enormous improvement on the previous instalments in terms of graphics. I only hope it plays as well as it looks, although I'm sure it will.

The levels seem densely packed, with a lot more going on in the background and racer AI is said to be very good indeed.

I've got high hopes for this game. I got F-Zero: Maximum Velocity for the GBA when it came out, and I was still playing it until Mario Kart: Super Circuit came out. I hope they improve the turning, though. In Maximum Velocity, if you wanted to make it around some turns, you had to tap the accelerator button and/or use the left or right slide. I don't think you should have to tap the button. They should make it so you can get around the turns just normally, or with the slide. You shouldn't have to do something like tap the button. That just got annoying.

I rented F-Zero X on the N64 back around when it came out, and didn't like it very much. Sure, the tracks were cool, but turning was a pain in the butt with the way the sliding worked. I just hope they don't make it like that in F-Zero GC.

So yeah, if they do the turning and sliding right, I'll probably end up buying it. If not, well, it'll probably only be a one-time rental.

I thought F-Zero X was excellent... I'm honestly not a fan of the SNES F-Zero games, and I barely played the GBA one, so F-Zero X is basically where my time spent with the series is.

I cannot wait to play the game, especially at the arcades... Word is that the arcade will be a fully enclosed cabinet built to look like a ship from the game. Supposed to have network capabilties and all that as well.

Videos of it look damn good already, and they still have time to work on it :).

Yeah I saw a video of this game too. But it wasn't a gameplay video... nore like the intro. Anyway I am looking forward to this game too... I want to see how fast the machines can go now and do hope they make the best controls yet. In the first one the controls where good but the A.I. always had WAY better turning. I swear they be going max speed and take a 90 degree turn like nothing. F-Zero X is my fav for the cool tracks and the vast selection. (But my aligence is always with the Black Fire Stingray) I love the first Silence track where you pretty much go at top speed at all times. Its just annoying that your machine can fly off the track if you go too damn fast!! And turning was a nightmare at those speeds! I played the GBA version and I didn't like it much. It was a pain having to press the gas in order to take a turn right. Anyway, from what I heard they say this game will have some really big and unique tracks. I hope they keep the same number of cars or add more to it and make them sound cool with a suitable track music to go with it. I just hope though they don't make the drivers as freaky looking as they did on the N64 >_< Hmm.. I wonder if they can make this an online game?? ^_^

I saw 2 videos for this game and one of them had what looked like in gameplay. The graphics are amazing. This F-Zero game will be the first to let you know you that you are going FAST. The video showed the Blue Falcon just blasting though this track, and the objects around it was passing him at an incredible rate. When he used the turbos, thats it. It looked like that effect you see in Star Trek when the spaceships go into warp speed. Don't worry though, the tracks are big enough to make those turns so you don't have to worry about hitting a wall. As for how the car handles... it looks like the controls from F-Zero X will be port because in one part the Blue Falcon began to turn much like what happens in F-Zero X when you turn too hard at high speeds. I hope I'm wrong about this because I didn't like that at all in F-Zero X...

Some new shots from NCL. The director of the game said that the game had improved visually over the video last shown (not the video on the Nintendo promo DVD, the newer stuff). Judging from these, it seems true. They are incredibly small, but the landscapes look great I think.

F-Zero X, F-Zero and F-Zero: Maximum Velocity all had the same handling systems. No F-Zero game has really deviated from that.

I assume that F-Zero GC will have a similar system in place. But who knows, Sega may have tweaked it to make it a little easier. I'm so happy that the creator of Daytona is making this game...he really knows his arcade racers. And judging by the gorgeous visuals...this is going to be one very atmospheric game. I can't wait to play it. ^_^

No, each F-Zero game had different effects for the R and L/Z Buttons. In the original F-Zero, all the R and L Buttons did was make your turns sharper, nothing more. In F-Zero X, it seemed like they swung the back end of your vehicle left or right, and it also seemed like it slowed you down. In Maximum Velocity, it made the whole vehicle drift left or right while still going straight, and also helped sharpen your turns.

Personally, I prefer how they did it in Maximum Velocity, because being able to drift left and right while still going straight was very helpful for edging up to the outside wall when you know there's a hairpin turn coming up, or jumping over into a recharge area, and other things. I couldn't even make it past the first set of tracks in F-Zero X, because I just was not able to turn sharp enough with the way they did it. I don't know if there's some trick to it, and I just didn't know it, but there shouldn't have to be a trick to it.

The first shot is from Newtechnix.com and the three that follow are from Gamerweb. I think these and the shots that Semjaza posted really show how beautiful this game is. I am looking for some videos right now, but IGN seems to have all of their videos locked. I would really love to see thise game in motion. And if the shots are any indication, it will look great. :)

The IGN videos of this game are gorgeous, although they're taken with a video camera...so that kind of sucks.

Anyway, yeah, this game is looking wonderful. The impressions I've read say that it handles the same as the GBA/N64 versions, but obviously has updated graphics.

The visuals are especially amazing when you see how fast this game runs. The vehicles can travel at up to 1,500 kilometers per hour, which gives you an idea of the kind of speed we're talking about.

In any case, it would be GREAT to see some kind of track editor here...but I doubt it'll happen. Still, it's a great thought.

Thanks to Semjaza I got to see one of teh videos. It look beautiful while it's in motion. Too many good games are coming out for the GCN lately. I need one now. I wanted a Gamecube for the longest time, but I decided against for lack of games. But now that I don't have one, I find out about a bunch of wonderfull looking games. :blah:
