Anime How did Vegeta learn to sense ki?

I've seen the episode in DBZ where Vegeta told Dodoria that he can sense ki and supress his ki. He also said that he learned it from the fight on earth but did they ever explain how they do it?

I THINK that they may've mentioned it in the Japanese version(dont quote me on that), but I dont remember hearing anything in the dub. Hopefully Piro or Gokents may know. But from my knowledge, I dont think they did. That was more than likely just a "filler" line.

It was during his fight with gokou for the first time.

He eventually came to sense the spirit bomb gokou made. (I believe)

He was only ok at this at that point.

He finished fighting with all of the earthlings and went back to his "space station headquarters" and then went to get the dragonballs on namek.

When he got to the station, he bragged about having a new ability to sense people's energy signals.

But, like I said, he wasnt good at this. He found out that frieza had already left for namek and went straight to get his scouter.

That meant that he did learn to sense energys but he couldnt do it well enough to rely on this.

Anyway, so yea, he learned to sense energy on earth after and during the fights with gokou, krillen and gohan.

Well, Vegeta DOES state it in the Japanese version as well as the American version. He tells Dordoria stuff like, "When I was on Earth, I learned a very special...blah blah." "I picked up the ablity to sense Ki by those earthing weaklings. Amazing how weak they are and what a great talent they had."
That was from the Japanese version.
So basically, he studied Goku and all that other crap and just learned it. Let's just say that he's a fast learner.

gotenks and yu yu hakusho! basicly said it all. vegeta learned it from fighting with people(and saiyans) that new how to sense ki. ever heard of watch and learn?

Vegeta wondered how Goku did it and he tried to learn by himself. He learned to do it, cut he couldn't do it very well because he hadn't been taught. He learned the very basics of it and eventually got the hang of it and got better, but he wondered how Goku did it and then he wanted to do it.

Rememebr how piccolo trained Gohan to see the fighters moving at a fast speed? Well it kind of works the same... If you clear your mind and use your strength to sense it, you will be able to sense ki enegy... ofcourse this is only applying the the world of DBZ.

It can work kind of the same in real life... like... if you stay still and focus on something like hearing.. then you'll be able to hear better than if you weren't focused or doing something else at the same time... blah blah blah.

Oh snap, I forgot that Piccolo mentioned that during the fight with Yamucha and the Saiba men. Thats probably how Vegeta truly learned how to do it. He over heard Piccolo mention that to Gohan. At first Vegeta was probably usin his scouter to see the Saiba men battle Yamucha(and the rest of the fights)but after his scouter broke, he decided to try and use Piccolo's way, thus came him learning Goku's movements and stuff during their fight. But then again, thats just what I'm thinkin now.

But man, I forgot all about that scene. Thanks for remindin me TN. ^_^

I think Roshi taught Goku how to suppres Ki. I know the clip in the Gotenks saga wasnt a real clip from a past DB ep, but you know that seen durin the Gotenks saga when Krillin is reminising to the past about how him and Goku(as kids) were in the water rising their ki? I would think that that was the actual time Goku and Krillin learned how to lower it. But I think the first time they actually showed him learn how to do it was with Mr. Popo. I could be wrong.

But from what Transic Nerve said about Vegeta learning it from what Piccolo said probably sounds right, because Vegeta seemed to be able to sence Zarbons Ki in the Frieza saga (I may be wrong about that though)[/color]
