Bing
Has anyone played this game? I saw some screenshots of it, and boy, it's looks good. I can tell you, the volleyball isn't only the thing bouncing about ;) Well, I really want to know what the gameplay is like, does it succeed as a volleyball game? Is there any actual Dead Or Alive style fighting in it? I may rent this title, when I actually get my Box (on Boxing Day, hopefully) and get back to you. Tell me what you guys think of this game! Charles
Well, I'm not interested much in this game to be honest, lol. It seems shallow. But, to its merit, or the merit of Team Ninja, rather, it is shaping up to be deeper than I expected. The storyline is simple. Following the DOA3 tournament, Zack pawned his earrings to buy his own island. He deceives all the women buy luring them to a false Dead or Alive 4 tournament on the island in an attempt to get lucky, lol. Basically, your role is to earn money on the island. Volleyball is a means to do it. The system that Team Ninja has set up sounds pretty cool. Your pairings actually have to get along with one another for maximum efficiency. Plus, the characters must be comfortable with the court they're playing on and the accessories they're wearing. I've read that there's an Island Casino with a wealth of mini games also. The odds of winning games are supposedly modeled accurately. It should be interesting. Other locations on the island include a movie theater and a radio station (O.o;;). I can appreciate the work that Team Ninja is putting into the game. It's surpassing my expectations, but I'm still not budging on my opinion of the game. It just seems more like interactive eye candy than an actual game. I haven't actually had an opportunity to play the game anyway. It hasn't released yet here. Semjaza
I dislike Team Ninja greatly. I also dislike Itagaki (or whoever) who heads them up. DOAXB originally started out as a simple fan service game, where you could control the girls and look at them doing animations from various angles. It was called Project Venus at the time. I guess they wanted to add to it for some reason. Last I heard, the game was only two players as Itagaki was hoping it would encourage people to play alone (god only knows what he is thinking). This is actually something he said in an interview lol, not some weird rumor. Anyway, I have no plans to rent it. It's rather annoying that people pass over Beach Spikers as if it doesn't exist, but they want this game. It's obviously not about the volleyball to anyone who wants it. Bing
I think that sounds like a pretty fun game! It sounds like my typem of game. So, no one answered this, is there actually any fighting involved?
Semjaza
No. It's a volleyball game coupled with a dress-up simulator.
Bing
Hmm...it sounds a bit girly now, having to choose their clothes and model them. I think this game could be very short, and could lose it novelty over only a couple of weeks.
Tommy Vercetti
This game looks pretty good as i have seen reviews too it kinda reminds me of the beach ball mode on a previous tekken game for ps2 but this has better graphics and you can do more things i may consider getting it when i have some money. vegeta rocker
hmmmmmmmm what is this rated? Is it going to be teen or M? I remember reading it might go M because of nudity codes. But that would be dumb anyway, Tekken is T and there is a code to make Anna naked.
Bing
I am not sure. I don't think it actually contains contains any full nudity, maybe just some ladies in bikinis, but nothing too strong. Here in the UK we have different ratings. I reckon it will be a 12, or a 15, but what's bad about people in costumes and bikinis?
torent
actually, i have heard nothing of this game. but, than again, am am the proud owner of ,(and only) a PS2. but really, it does sounbd pretty shallow..... dead or alive chics.......in string bikini's.......jumping and diving.....welll, the only thing i can think of is the fact that the industry has wisened up to the largely perverted male population.:p
Bing
Yeh, it's main selling point will be how shallow it is. I think there is still a basic plot though, unlike some mindless sexually orientated games being released.
liamc2
Dead or Alive Beach volleyball? Puh-leeze This is almost as sad as that 'BMX XXX' (actually, I don't think its humanly possible to create another game as sad as 'BMX XXX' ...welll maybe it is...but you're going to need a lot of black magic and a couple of sacrificial bovines...lol) What is with it with game companies these days? Sniglefager
actually, for some reason, the ESRB gave this game an M. Why? Don't ask me. The full stories at gamers.com The guy who made the game(or someone) was holding back tears because of this. It sounds kinda stupid, but then again, I would probably be pissed too if I made a game that got an M and that wasn't what I was aiming for
BigCajones
Hmmm I don't really get why it should be classed as an M, I mean it's no way near as bad as BMX XXX! It's not exactly showing you like porn videos it's just trying to stay realistic. When you are on the beach you would wear a bikini right (if you are a girl)? The whole game itself doesn't appeal to me, volleyball will get really boring really fast! It's not really promoting porn in anyway, there not even real people just computer game characters from DOA. Why did it get an M rating in the states then? :naughty:
Sniglefager
probably because of angry moms, saying they don't want their kids playing "dirty" games. You know, that schlock. Personnaly, I feel if their parents just watched their kids play the games, they might understand it, instead of reading it in the news paper and bashing on it right away. I understand that some games (the GTA series, and the aforementioned BMX XXX) should not at any circumstances be put into kids hands. But my friend's mom is so strict, she has to watch him while he plays T games. Hello?! He's 13! I'm not saying that parents suggestions are all bad, but the ESRB shouldn't have given this game an M. Sure, there is a lot of bouncing and bobbing, but take your kids to the beach and you'll see the exact same thing
Bing
Hmm, from the screens I have seen, there is nothing' dirty' about it. It's just ladies in bikinis, we've all seen that in real life, let alone on computer games. That's like banning Tomb Raider, because Lara Croft wears a tight revealing top. I really think this is a big fuss about nothing. Why, in our society, is it getting to the point were you can't even enjoy a slightly controversial game?
Semjaza
It was rated M for "nudity" and sexual situations apparently. Nudity, not being full... but some of the stuff the girls wear is extremely skimpy (the Venus swimsuit in particular), so I guess the ESRB felt it warrented that. Sexual situations I'd assume involve all their running around and rubbing lotion on eachother and feeding eachother candy and any other rather odd thing they can do. Even so, I think Teen would have sufficed. If you're actually interested in volleyball, get Beach Spikers on GC or look for some old SNES/NES game of it. The volleyball in this game is simple and halfassed, and it only allows two players (BS allows 4 at least). If you are interested in this for other reasons, well then whatever lol. Bing
If you are interested in this for other reasons, well then whatever lol.
Yeh, I think that's why people are interested it. I don't think it rates very well as an actual volleyball game. I think it's been released to keep us occupied until a new DOA is released.
Semjaza
That's not exactly the other reasons I had in mind heh. I don't know how this can keep anyone happy until a new DOA fighter is released, unless they only play DOA to see boobs bounce around... But that wouldn't surprised me either lol. Bing
There are some very sad people Semjaza, my friend. Can I get this point cleared up, because I am not very sure about this. Is there actually any fighting involved in this game? If not, I will be dissapointed, because I feel if they are using that title, there should be a bit of beat 'em up action, even if it's only in little mini games.
Semjaza
No, like I said several posts up. There is no fighting at all. The game is divided up into days, which are each divided up into segments. During those segments you can try to make friends with other girls (by giving them presents), do weird poses, buy gifts, play minigames (of which there are like 2), go to the casino or play volleyball. The casino itself isn't very interesting. It's simply a bunch of flat graphics. You might as well play Windows Blackjack on your computer.
vegeta rocker
After actually playing this game this weekend i finally understand the rating. It must have come off the beginning theme. There is a totally bare bottom and some partially exposed chests. The game itself is not really aimed at true volleyball game fans, its easier then the norm on that area. The one thing i find funny, is that i enjoyed playing the pool jumping game more then the actual volleyball.
Bing
Heh cool! What other mini games are there? Did you complete the game, or in't there really a storyline? What are the main options to chose from? So many questions...
vegeta rocker
Well, there aren't that many mini games but then again i didn't play that long. But it's kinda cool, the more money you get you can get more bathing suits for them. My little Tina is a white two piece, so what i'm a girl! The option i find funny is when you can just lounge around the pool in diffrent positions. That zoom is just wrong.
tabmow
DOAX is a very attractive game the Graphics and story line are interesting, but the real addictiveness of the game is in the mini games. The pool hop and casino are almost addictive. The vollyball while simple has enticing enough gameplay that after a few minutes of observing the charachters you auctually get wrapped up in the game wether it be the main game vollyball or one of the other games. I probably would advise getting the game used so as not to pay full price or wait for it to come down, but hey It is definity an great addition to a DOA collection. Buy the way she doesn't kick high but in the right swimsuit.....Who cares ?
