AnimeAddict
I just went into Ice Cavern and when there is a fork in the road I went right (a bad choice apparently). So I have to fight this magician with a bell (controls the blizzard). Unfortunately, he summoned this ice monster and............... I died. Any tips? Or can this whole situation be avoided?? :p
GinnyLyn
Nope, can't avoid it. It's only you against the Black Waltz and his big pet Sea Lion. It's been a while since I last played...hmmm. Well, take advantage of Trance as soon as you hit it, and make it count. There's a good Dyne, either the first or the second (told you it's been a while oO;.), that totally smacks the Lion up. The first time around, I was able to take the Lion out first, and the second time, the Waltz was the first to die. Either way, hit hard, hit fast, and keep your health up. Desbreko
What I did, was I'd just attack the sea lion, or use a Dyne attack if I was in Trance, and just use Potions to heal myself whenever I needed it. One thing, though, is that you can tell when the sea lion is gonig to do its big wave attack, which seemed like it would usually kill you unless you had close to full HP. I don't remember exactly how to tell, but I'm pretty sure it had something to do with a part of the sea lion turning a different color, and when it turned red, you knew it was about to use its nasty attack, or something like that. And you made the same mistake I made, when I first went through the Ice Cavern, heh. I also went right, and also ended up dying on that boss. Next time, though, go left first, and you'll find a save point. That way, if you die again, you won't have to go through the whole Ice Cavern again.
Sniglefager
I havn't played the game in a while, but I think there's a different weapon for Zidane in that cave. I'm not sure, but I think that's how I beat it. Oh well, just listen to these other 2 people. I'm sure they know what they're doing more than I do
SephirothNIN
I had the same problem with that bastard black waltz, I seemed to keep getting far and then dying when I was close to victory ><. So I simply loaded up my save and gained one more level and then I was able to beat em. Also I forget which did more damage, Zidane's regular attack or vivi's magic attack, when you see which is stronger, try having only that person attacking, and the other using potions (if u have a lot), that'll make sure one of your guys doesn't die, because then it will be a lot harder. Break
No! You have to kill the Black Waltz #1 first, it's very hard to do it the way that you're talking about, just keep your HP up and barrage the BW and Sealion with attacks. I would advise maybe levelling up another two or three levels in the Ice Cavern. :)
conpiracymonki
Yep! Black Waltz first! And the water fountain in the Ice Cavern...you can refill HP/MP on it. So try levelling up near that... ;)

I havn't played in a while, but this battle stands out to me because it was such a pain Yes, you do only get to use Zidane in the fight. The others are still passed out when Zidane wakes up. - Desbreko
G/S/B Master
Black waltz and Sea Lion vs Zidane stratagy guide: Made by me :D.
First Black Waltz#1 will summon Sea lion.If you got Mage masher equiped to Zidane you'll easily win the battle with his Dyne ability "Tidal FLame".Raise Zidane's level around level 15. Your first priority is to knock the stuffing out of Black Waltz.Focus all of your attacks on Black Waltz intil he dies. When your HP is 150 or lower use potion immediatly...After you knock out Black Waltz, attack Sea Lion.If you trance, don't be afraid to use Tidal FLame. When you cause enough damage his bell will change to blue to yellow.Be careful,he'll use Blizzard and immediattly use Wing attack.Sometimes he uses that tatic for a counter attack.Finish him off quick, use potion when your HP is lower than 200 this time. When his bell becomes red,He'll be using Blizzara now instead of Blizzard.KEEP YOUR HP UP!!!!!!Attack it 1 or 2 more time and start stealing stuff.Stop stealing once you have Mythril Dagger and Ether. Then go for the kill. After the battle, the cinema shows you that another Black Waltz was watching you.But it dissappeared.Later,Garnet changes her name to dagger. It's really funny if you put in Garnet instead. Then you'll be walking to Dali, your next destination.
____________________ OK,I'm collecting blood stones now.I have collected one,but I can't light the candle in the central stair......That suppose to be the one I could get my 2nd bloodstone.HOw do you get all the blood stones? Don't double post you fool! Never ever do it again! :) -Break
Valen
You simply light all the candles. I warn you though, if you miss any BloodStones, you will regret it when the time comes to light the final candle. Haha, anyway, from the first bloodstone, go into the next room and run in front of the two demon statues. See what they have to say, they tell you about the place. G/S/B Master
I'm on disk 4, preparing myself from
Nova Dragon, the 4 chaos guardians, Deathguise, maybe Hades, Trance Kuja, and Necron.
Any tips for before I face those bosses?
Valen
Yes! Steal from
the four Chaos Gaurdians
Especially steal from
The Fire Gaurdian (The one with the 6 arms)
if you haven't gotten the Ultima Weapon yet. Hell, steal from 'em all!
Hades -- Easy as hell-o. When he powers up his sword, he'll most likely use Doomsday. Beware of that attack and you'll be fine. Necron -- Hahaha I laugh at him. Gaurdians -- Steal and Equip things to absorb the elementals... I believe you fight them in the following order: Fire Wind Water Earth They all have good weapons/equipment, so steal.
That's about it...
