The Harlequin
My Name: Flynn Mitchell Character Name: Lacroix s'Xalerian Email Address: the_eldritch_harlequin@hotmail.com Location: Otakuboards will have to do. That's about it when it comes to conversing with other people online for me. [Edit] Well, here we are. History: The s'Xalerians are the head of the Vishaki mage clan of the far east. Lacroix was a promising young student, and was tutored by nearly a score of archmages from the age of 5 up until his departure (a.k.a. banishment). He was always a solitary boy, and had few human contacts. Despite his youth, he would often go off alone into the wilderness for days on end. He talked little, though he was far above average intelligence. Thus, he was often contemptuous of others, which, added to the arrogant ease with which he wielded his talent, lead to common retribution. Lacroix quickly learnt to defend himself, which lead to further hatred of him. Despite all this, his instructors warmed to him. Among these was a withered old being named Ski'jul. Now, Ski'jul was a solitary being, who had spent his life studying the more ...esoteric side of arcana. In other terms, he had long walked the Dark Road. Being of a somewhat darker character himself, Lacroix was naturally drawn to Ski'jul, and Ski'jul found an adept and willing pupil in Lacroix. When found out be Rakskini, Lacroix's father and the head of the clan, Ski'jul summoned several hellish creatures, which destroyed the larger percentage of the clan before being killed. Ski'jul then fled, taking with him the 14 year old Lacroix. Lacroix was truly indoctrinated along the Dark Road, and was an experience walker when at last he tracked down by his vengeful father. Set upon in the middle of the night by several Templars, as well as four archmages, including Rakshini. Ski'jul's head was split by a flanged mace, and his soul ripped to shreds while it tried to reach the etheric planes. No ressurrection, or otherworldly contact, would be in any way possible. Lacroix was subdued, and taken back to the heart of the clan. He was exorcised of his summoning ability and knowledge. Attempting to cling to their gate to the material plane, Lacroix's Familiar demons ended ripping his mind apart during the arcane struggle. Afterwards, most of Lacroix's talent was rent asunder, leaving him a far less powerful being than he was, and no memory of his time walking the Dark Road. At this time, he was 17, and shunned and hated by most of the people around him. A year later, on his 18th birthday, which coincided with the darknest, longest night of the year, winter solstice, a huge party was held, for although Lacroix had been corrupted by evil, he was still a member of the s'Xalerians. Prestige can do dangerous things to people. The festivities lasted long into the next day. Nobody noticed that the guest of honor had disappeared earlier though, at exactly midnight. By then, they were all so deep in their cups they wouldn't have cared. Lacroix went immediately to the library, to the great histories of the Vikshaki. His intentions, originally, were innocent. For he merely wished to unearth the reasons he was considered so pernicious. Sure enough, his ordeal was well described and dissected. At this, Lacroix grew enraged. Always independant, the idea that someone would dare interfere with his free will left him in a cold fury. He went straight away to his father's chambers, killing the single guard with a purloined dagger. From his father's private library, he stole several eldritch tomes, whihc he studied in secret for most of the night. The next day, he ran into the great hall and awoke his father, frantically telling him of the dead guard and the theft. His father, afraid, for the tomes contents were deadly, sent most of the clan out to find out what had happened to them. This was perfect the burgeoning murderer. The small remainder left had no chance, mudered by the infernal beasts Lacroix conjured up. The last to die was Rakskini. As he was torn to pieces at his son's command, he despaired, not for himself, but for the toll that would be enacted upon his son. When the searches returned, the place was a charnel house. Lacroix had long fled the scene. A search turned up the stolen books, and Lacroix was immediately hunted down through scrying. Again, he was purged, and this time, set under ciphers of binding and command. At the peril of his life and soul, he was unable to touch the demonic planes. Undaunted, he turned his mind to other planes, other energy sprites, and started to learn the arts of an evocator. Suspicious, the remaining clan members warded him against any otherplanar contact. Lacroix fell into a rage, and attempted to break through the binding, his mind striking at it again and again, as a beast in a cage. As he clubbed himself into unconsciousness, his mental outputs, driven by his restored natural talent, drove a psionic blast into all around him. He awoke an hour later. Immediately, he was banished, and all arcanic knowledge he had learnt under the instruction of the Vishaki drained from him. He was still in possession of his natural talent. And now, he had the powers of a budding ki-channeller. Lacroix wandered alone for years, a ragged and inhuman soul. At the age of 21, he settled down at the Monastery of the Order Of The Eldritch Heart. Here, Lacroix devoted himself to training, raising through the ranks with skill and ease. Before entering the monastery, Lacroix had mainly defended himself through his mental abilities. The subtle energy ki had manifested strongly within him, and was harnessed to amazing potential. Lacroix is faster, stronger, and quicker to react than most beings have a right to be. However, he quickly picked up the monks' openedhanded style of martial arts, and was foremost in the monastery when wielding twin kamas. A year ago, under such a conflict, with the head of the order, Lacroix accidently drove one of his blades into the Abbot's neck. Understandably, the other monks were less than happy with this... Lacroix, never having actually taken vows of service, was placed under a deathmark, and banished. He currently works as a spy or assassin for anyone who particularly needs it. Description: Lacroix is six foot tall, with shoulder length black hair that shimmers silver. Lacroix had steel grey eyes, hardened by time and experience. Very few people can hold his emotionless gaze. The chaos in his soul reflects out those portal, swirling through the black flecks in the iris of his eyes. He has a hawklike nose, and a thin mouth. He tends to blacken his lips. A flash tatoo winds down the left side of his face. His skin is bone-white, due to his intense dislike of sunlight. This, and his manner of dress, has led many to believe he is of a vampyric origin. That may be so, Lacroix isn't sure, as he quite often has obscure hungers that disappear with his next kill. The difference between emotion and physical sensation is very thin... Lacroix wears a black martial arts style robe (you all know what I'm talking about), with silver Celtic-style knotwork tracery down the sleeves, tied with a belt of some heavy, tough material. Black pants, soundless in motion, flow down to just above his ankles, revealing tough leather boots, with strangely noiseless soles, no matter the surface. Underneath the voluminous sleeves of the robe, Lacroix's forearms are covered with black leather bracers, each with a design on the upper side. The etched areas are filled with onyx.

As for family, none ever existed that she knows of. She knows nothing but her wolf pack's love.....and it holds her firm in life. Appearance: .....You'll see soon enough. Okay fine, silver eyes, pale skin. All around her body is the heady scent of roses and violets...it seems to follow here wherever she goes, even when she is under stress. Gavin
Hmm great idea and a very nice website Name: Gavin Lee Characters Name: Alex McNeill E-Mail Address: Savage_Cabbage_2002@Hotmail.com Location: MSN Messenger: use Hotmail address -------------------------------------- Appearance Alex's appearance is very much like that of a ranger. He stands 6'4 proud and is of an athletic build. His hair is like the mane of a wild horse, untamed and wild, it drapes down around his shoulders, though Alex cares not of it's messiness. His beard is comparable to his hair in color and appearance though it is slightly shorter being kept cut close down to 3 inches below the chin. His face is weathered with travel and the passing of time. His complexion is colored but only slightly though. His hair is the color of fresh chestnuts fallen from the tree, his eyes glint a deep blue like a river color, though behind them a well of knowledge and experience lies. His clothes are those of a ranger. On his feet he wears a pair of brown roughly hewn leather boots, these have been worn with time and have many marks and scratches on them. On his worn hands he wears a similarly worn pair of brown leather gloves, they are thick enough for both manual work and to keep his hands warm. His pants are made of a strong cloth material dyed a dark brown like that of a tree's bark. He dons a grey cloak the color of a young ash tree, and a grey shirt of a similar material to his pants. Over his chest he wears a silver colored chest plate, which he has worn since he reached his "Coming of Age" and was judged and treated as an adult by his people. Though from what I have said you may think he bears no weapons to defend himself, this is untrue. About his waist in a sheath of brown leather bearing his name, he carries a four-foot long sword the hilt. The weapon is made of silver and gold, this sword is all he has left of his former glory and his former life. Over his shoulders he carries a rough grey quiver filled with oak arrows peaked with steel tips for piercing armor. He carries a long bow about him made of ash instead of the traditional yew wood. It measures 4 foot in length and can carry and arrow 300 feet easily. In physical appearance he may look quite wild and dangerous, he has dwelt these lands for many years watching and learning of other ways but staying solitary and keeping to himself. He can enter a hall of hundreds and feel as though he is alone. It is the way of life he has chosen and where once he enjoyed being the son of the Lord and Captain of a mighty kingdom now he journeys in solitude as a ranger with his brother and sisters of the wild. History Alex was born as the heir to the Kingdom of Faraday. His Kingdom was wealthy and prosperous and knew most only peace. There were occasions when an enemy of the Kingdom would raise and army and hope to take the Kingdom for himself, however Alex's father the King was both courageous and cunning in battle, he often came out victorious in battle when out numbered by his enemy. His father was loved by all the people, as was Alex's mother. She would often tend to the cities every need when her husband was off to war. She would order food be given to the hungry, medicine to the sick and cloaks to the cold. Her generosity made her loved by all her people from the lowliest of peasants to the highest of lords. Alex's father and mother were overjoyed when Alex was born to them. Alex was the first male to have been born in the family after three daughters who had already been born. Alex father and mother decreed that a joyous occasion such as this should be shared by all. They ordered that a festival be held for the next month in his honor, all taxes would not have to be paid, all people would receive two suits of clothing, all the poor would be provided with land or a shop to made their trade in. Truly Alex's birth brought their Kingdom to new heights of goodness and glory. Alex began his tutelage from the age of 7; he learned quickly and had an intellect as sharp as his father. The boy's potential to learn much like his father they said, amazed his tutors. His studies progressed and Alex became of a quick a wit and as any noble man among his Kingdom and soon grew to earn the respect of all those he met whether King of a distant land or Noble who served his father. His father tutored his military training, because in the opinion of the tutors there was nobody more suited to teach him. His father taught Alex well and soon he presented Alex with a sword that had belonged to Alex's father when he was a lad. The sword was beautiful, it was wrought of steel but it was light to hold and use, the hilt of the sword was made of gold and silver that crossed over one another spiraling. Alex became skilled in using both a sword and a bow quickly, under his father's instruction. His skill reached it peak and he was instructed no more after the age of 18. When he had reached his "Coming of Age" at 22 he was given silver and gold colored robes and a silver chest plate to wear while he was being sworn in as a Noble of the Kingdom. It was during this time when one of the enemies of the Kingdom, knowing that the whole Kingdom would be in great celebration. Brought a huge army and attacked the capital Faraday (after which the Kingdom was named), and took prisoner the King, the Queen and all the nobles who had been attending. Alex was forced to watch in horror as his enemy, who's name he does not speak executed his father, his mother and all those who had served loyally to his parents. He ravaged and pillaged the Kingdom and massacred all those who lived within it. He set Alex free as a sign that he could be merciful, but the reason was he wanted a Noble to be able to tell of the destruction that his enemy had caused. Alex went into hiding, in a Kingdom in the central part of the world. It was here that he bought his clothes he now wears, with what little money he was given. He informed the King of what he had befallen his Kingdom in the west, but the King refused to believe and Alex left. He became a wild ranger hunting the followers of the enemy that had taken his life from him and someday, he hope to slay the enemy that took his family......
Shy
Hmm, very interesting... Name: Josh Trujillo Character Name: Miles "Percy" Edward Stanwick Cooper Character History: This world was not meant for mortals, any educated person knows that. Due to luck and inexplicable circumstances the human race has survived and dominated the Earth. Modern technology and science have taken hold among the general public, but in return they have lost the secrets of the past. Lost civilizations and ancient races may be our only link to the history we have forgotten, and as a Mythologist/Historian it is Percy Cooper's duty to search those things out. Percy is intelligent, clever, and above all, British. He was born into a wealthy family, and spent the first two decades of his life at several elite schools and universities. Thanks to this education, Percy can speak several different languages, and has degrees in both history and science. However, he lacks "real world" experience, which is his greatest shortcoming. Some perceive him to be dense, but the truth is that he is just naive. He is usually the first person in the room to understand the situation, but preaching to a room full of idiots can only get one so far in life... Weapon: ...weapon? If not, let me know and I'll be more than happy to change it.), has pointy, leaf-shaped ears (even though they're not exactly that long.) She wears a light-wieght chain-mail shirt ontop of a green dress, with black leather armor on top of that. She wears black boots, a dark blue cape, and wears a sword at her side. Character History: Elsyan is very quiet and shy, loyal to her friends, honest, and outgoing. When Elsyan was about ten, her homeland was being raided and destroyed. She doesn't remember much about that night, only that it was a night of chaos with the stench of burning trees and blinding smoke. Somehow Elsyan got lost while everyone was fleeing, and so she wandered around aimlessly until she came upon a small town a few days later. Elsyan immediatly loved the village. Corey
Your name - Corey Roos Your character name - Ryan Schezar Your email address - darkorderknight@yahoo.com Location - Either Ob, AIM(DarkOrderKnight0), or E-mail... ------------- Character: Name- Ryan Schezar Appearence- EDIT: The link didn't work so.... Ryan is about 6'5" tall. He is thin and not very muscular. His hair is a dark blonde and his eyes are a blazing orange. Hiis hair hangs around his ears and eyes sometimes obscuring his sight. History- Ryan was inducted into the practice of 'Streaming' at a very young age. 'Streaming', as the word may suggest, is the practice of making things run smoothly. Streamers help the world contiue on as smoothly as it possibly can while avoiding cataclysmic events. Great magics are needed to make these cataclysims 'dissapear'. For this, Streamers tap into the veins of the spritual world. They draw energy from the land of the dead and save the living. Ususally, only certain people can draw. And usually, they can only draw from certain points. Ryan is different. He has a strange chemical imbalance in his brain. This allows him to draw necrotic energy from anywhere. Dispite all of his wonderful gifts, Ryan is prone to bouts of unconciousness. The chemical imbalance becomes too much. He simply drops. Something is happening, though. The periods of unconciousness have been happening fewer and fewer, and a strange force in the spirit world whispers in the ears of the Streamers. Something big... Something... perhaps... to powerful for the Streamers to stop... Unique Features- Traditional Tatoos all around his body. A large scar running the length of his spine. Items Carried- Draw Ball( A Streaming tool used to store energy from the spirit world) Linik Knife( A Knife tipped with poison) Herbs( Magical healing medicine)

Standing around 5?6, Tylenia often looks up at people. This, too, gave the aura of innocence she never possessed. Mnemolth
Firstly, I would like to thank everyone for their interest in this project. Its good to know that people are not put off by the need for some effort in an RPG. :D For those who are intrigued by this game, it is not too late to express your interest by posting your details; name, character name, email and location (on the net). You do not have to go to all the creative effort of making a character, you just have to come up with a name. Please do so as soon as possible. It would make my job easier to have a wider group of people to choose from than a narrow one. Obviously this means anyone can edit their post of their character, as long as it is before the 6 Jan 2003. This is the date that the list of players accepted for this game will be finalised. However, I would like to inform you all that I will be making a preliminary list on Fri 3 Jan, and you will be emailed. If you DO receive an email of acceptance, PLEASE make sure your character is ready for play by Mon 6 Jan. This means modifying/expanding on any bio details (remember other people need to write about your character so you should at least give them SOME idea, even if that is just that the character is mysterious and no one knows anything about him/her). It also means posting a pic of your character, and it must be less than 50k. One thing that people may or may not have understood is that the setting for this game is given in the Settings page. Click on the Current Settings and NPCs link. The Objectives for Round 1 are also provided on the same page, along with sample stories from a previous game I ran in 2001. Since the players have not been decided yet, perhaps it is too early to start thinking about writing the submission. Nevertheless, it would be constructive to have a look and familarise yourself with the setting. In this way you may find you may want or need to modify your character. As always, if you have a question, post it, PM it or email it to me. Finally, I would like to say a few words about the game and my position in it. I am the guide, I create the rules and I run the game. As such, its my responsibility to ensure the objectives are fun, interesting and challenging. If there are any deadlocks in the voting, its part of my job to break them. This means I cannot participate in the game. You are the players. This game is made for you. Its success or failure is dependant upon your creativity and enthusiasm. It requires work, quite a lot of work. It also requires goodwill to one another, to help each other out, to give praise where applause is warranted and dish out constructive criticisms when that is necessary. It also means being able to take criticisms (even if you are not going to buy it). This is, in a sense, a fellowship of writers. You are here to learn, to have fun, and to improve your craft. Keep an open mind and a generous heart.
Sara
My Name: Sara Jean Character Name: Xii [pronounced 'shee'] Endelin Email Address: cynic42@gmx.net AIM: omega reh Physical Appearance: See attachment. It's an unfinished picture, but it turned out nice. In most cases, she will wear a brown tunic, long pants, and moccasins, all are trimmed with a similar design. Info: Race: "Endelin." Xii is one of a race of people which have always lived in the forest, and are sometimes rumored to have unnatural abilities where woods anf nature are concerned. Legend has it that the first Endelin was born from a union of man and dryad. Human in appearance [and perhaps completely human,] they are rarely seen outside the forest--or in it, for that matter. Home: Xii's clan lives deep in Erienthe forest, some miles from the afflicted village. The forest itself borders the town wall. Family: As hinted above, the Endelin live in clans, rather than tightly-knit biological families. Xii's is composed of roughly 40 people. History: Xii isn't sure who her immediate family is, and doesn't care: she's quite happy with her life. In fact, she was 'adopted' from another clan, but such cases, while infrequent, do happen among the Endelin of Erienthe, and no one thinks much of them. She is well-liked by everyone she knows, and has a slight crush on her long-time best friend. Personality: Xii is a naturally friendly person. Having gotten along well with everyone she knew at home, she is somewhat hurt when she meets people who refuse to be friendly, and wonders if the problem may lie with herself. She's more quiet than bouncy, and has a sweet and caring disposition. She is not easily swayed from her beliefs, but will often go with 'majority rule' to avoid open conflict, and although she will be bitter for a little while, it is not her nature to hold a grudge. Strengths and Weaknesses: Because of who she is and where she has lived all her life, Xii is completely home in the forest, able to live, eat, and hide without difficulty. She does not have healing magic, but knows the basics of healing, and is familiar with forest plants. She has a sling which she can hunt with, and a well-worn wooden staff she carries as a walkin stick/personal defense. She is not a fighter, however, and would have no idea what to do with--or when confronted with--any other weapon. She tolerates camp and cooking fires, but is uncomfortable around them, and would panic if threatened with fire, even in jest. She loves the forest, and cannot tolerate destruction of any kind; she can be unreasonable where this is concerned. She longs for the forest when she is not in it, and may become very homesick. She is also very trusting and open, and her greatest fault is perhaps that she is so naive. Other Quirks: A tree is planted at the birth of each Endelin child, in a custom laced with a kind of 'magic.' The tree will keep pace with the child's growth, reaching maturity at the same time. Certain children may form a strong bond with their tree; Xii has. Her staff was made from a fallen branch, and she carries a leaf with her at all times. She may believe herself to sense certain things--weather, and the like--taking place around it. Juu
Okies, here it is. ^_^ Char's name: Celestine Kittana Char's Age: 1018 Weapons: One pair of sai, rarely uses them. Appearance: See pic. Bio: Celestine was born to a royal family, raised for three years within the walls of a castle until a war between two lands destroied the castle, destroying her family, leading the land of Platina into a time of darkness, paril, and turmoil. She was rescued by a medicine woman of a small village, then taught how to create healing potions and spells. She grew up in the village for centuries, and didn't change in appearance. Slowly she began to heal other members of the tribe for centuries, soon gaining the name of Relee' (meaning 'angel' in the tribe's language). She soon learned one last spell from the medicine woman. She learned how to give up her life to revive another from death. She would die after the spell was cast, and the person she revived would have had to been alive no longer than one moon before their death. Celestine forgot her real name over the years, as people began calling her Relee.
Charles
Well, I certainly appreciate the work that has gone into this and I'm a little flattered by the invitation, so I may as well attempt to get in and try to make it work. Name: Charles Loughlin Your Character Name: Calonice Lysistrata (The Rosary Knight) Email Address: elcrazywhiteboy@aol.com Location: I can be contacted most readily on my public AOL screen name: elcrazywhiteboy or you could simply pm me. Other Information People, Places and Misc.: The Rosary Knight: When swords sing and the corpses of men litter the lands, there is usually blood stained on the Rosary Knight's hands. Little is known of this ambiguous being. But, he has had great impact on not only the battlefield, but in inspiring literature and art as well. Soldiers, men, become excited boys stretching and exaggerating their experiences with the knight into grand mythos. Scops (poets) sing of his legendary campaigns and artists develop their own unique interpretations of what lies under his helm. This chivalrous warrior has risen from myth to social reality. It is said that each swing from the knight's sword is powerful enough to cut down five men. Following a battle, the mysterious fighter drops a rosary on his victims' chest, allowing them to make peace with God in their final moments, hence the nickname. Some believe that the Rosary Knight is a warrior sent forth from the heavens to extract revenge on man on behalf of an angry God. Calonice Lysistrata: Calonice is the youngest daughter of five in the royal family. In her society, women are kept at the back of the house--sequestered. Their main function was to be a breeding machine. Calonice, being of royal blood, is exempt of such a menial life. Nonetheless, she will never take the throne. She ranks equally with servant boys, faced with the task of serving mead to soldiers. As a child, she secretly harbored a deep-seeded fascination with combat. For a time, she disguised herself as a boy and partook in training with other youth and excelled. Her abilities and natural talent pushed her ahead of her peers. This was a curse, however, because it lead to the discovery of her identity. I don't want to go on too much longer, because I want to make this as brief as possible, but she secretly continued her training with servants and low class warriors. Over time, she developed a love interest with one of these warriors. When he fell on the battle field, she snuck out of the castle, as she done many times in her youth and approached a blacksmith, her identity veiled, and paid a great deal of money for her armor. She is the Rosary Knight, spreading her justice where she pleases, holding alliances with no one. Age: 22 Trademark: Her Kingdom: I don't know if I'm permitted to name locations or if that responsibility is yours Mnemolth, so I'll just say that the kingdom she lives in is very pessimistic. War is constant. Kings struggle to pay their thanes and soldiers can become slaves at any time. Raiha
Oh yeah, can't believe I forgot this. Here's a general image of what our brave heroine looks like. BTW, that's female hero, not the drug you shoot yourself up with.

Mnemolth
To answer Crazy White Boy's question, yes, you can name locations and people, as long as its not part of the 'story'. So, you can name the kingdoms and so on, but you can't name the 'town' or the 'mayor' or the 'bartender', because that is part of the 'story', and so it is the 'winning' submission that determines these things, and if the winning work does not have such names in it then the winning one for the Round after that, and so on. I hope I haven't confused everyone. :D If anyone has any questions, as always, PM or email me, or post it here if you think it will also help others. :)
Mnemolth
...and the losers are: Sara The Harlequin Crazy White Guy Juuthena Red XIII ShyGuy and Lady Asphyxia Yes, these poor souls have been unfortunate enough to have been chosen to be guinea pigs in this experimental RPG. ;) But seriously folks, I would like to thank all those who have made the effort to create a character and register for this game. To be honest, I'm not sure if I have made the best choices. I have tried, and hopefully that will be good enough. I reserved 2 slots for people that I did not personally invite to the game, and luckily, exactly 2 people applied. So Juuthena and Red XIII were in. Then I had to choose 5 from the remaining 10 candidates. It was not an easy task. For those who have missed out, I hope you don't mind if I file away your particulars, and should another game be launched or a vacancy open, I will let you know. In the meantime, you can still support RPW by reading the stories and voting for your favorite. :D Apologies for being a day late on the final list. All players and characters have been uploaded to the RPW website. Please check out the Player and Character sections to make sure all the info is accurate. If there are any problems, let me know.

Anyway, it's nice that I made it in, but that little love letter doesn't sound too reassuring. Maybe Juuthena will be the one rubbing it in, but not I. liamc2
Originally posted by Crazy White Boy Surely you jest. :)
No sir I do not jest, as a matter of fact I never jest! ...........except for when I've got my jester's hat on *puts it on* ^^ *does a little jig and then takes it off again* you see sir, that was me jesting, and as you can also see, it is totally different from my above quoted statement. However....we may need me to put the hat on again.....why?....uh.......uh.... *sticks the hat back on and resumes his jig* ^^
