Music - What's your flavour?

Music varies so much now whether it's new skool garage and R'n'B or old skool rock 'n' roll and reggae. I'm Interested in what music you listen to.

What was the latest album/single you got? What's the latest tune you just can't get out of your head? What's your favourite and worst genre of music? Last, but not least what/who is your favourite band/singer? p.s don't have to answer them all.

Hmmm lets think for me the last album I got was Kerrang Recharged. I've had many songs I can't get out of my head like Incubus - Drive, Stone Sour - Get Inside and many many more! At the moment I would have to say No one knows by Queen of the Stone Age. I personally listen to grunge/nu-metal and I can stand some hip hop to some extent as it's good mixing in with some rock hits! The music I hate the most would have to be garage for the simple fact i can't understand the crappy MC bits. My old favourite band was Limp Bizkit, but with out Wes Borland they are nothing so I'm not sure maybe Korn, Slipknot or Linkin Park, but still love old Limp!!!

Now you please .... :demon:

latest CD I've gotten is Nickel Creek's self-titled album. it's actually not that 'country-ish', just basically strings and voices for the most part, I think...without the 'twang', so to speak.

heh, I like that song Know One Knows, too. it's pretty nifty.

favorite style of music-wise, I don't know anymore :cross:. I'll listen to just about anything except for most country and rap/hip hop (I'd like it a lot more if they took the words out, or at least replaced 'em *oy*).

favorite artists: some are Jon Schmidt, Moby, New Found Glory, Josh Groban, No Doubt (their older stuff), System of a Down, Sugarcult, 311, and Incubus. I like a whole lotta songs from different bands, but haven't heard a lot of the other bands' music, so I can't say much else about it.

Long story ahead-----

I grew up on rock my parents listened to... The Doors, Police, Zepplin, Rush, Beatles, Pink Floyd, whatever. I like all of those to an extent still, but I absolutely love The Doors.

I didn't really care about finding other music until like 8th grade, when our local station 103.5 changed ownership and started playing a mix of new and old rock. We also got an alternative station, Q101, somewhere around this time. I liked all this stuff, but I found myself being drawn into heavier and heavier stuff.

So the next few years I mostly listened to stuff like Korn, Rammstein, Pantera, Down and other random metal stuff (mostly more mainstream), plus NIN's TDS. I remember buying Manson's Antichrist Superstar around this time, and I hated it. I thought it was disgusting and I gave it away. I wound up buying it again though, and I slowly got into it one song at a time. I eventually bought his other two main CDs (Portrait and SLS), and slowly got into those as well.

A while after this Napster got big and I downloaded a lot of random crap... A LOT of old Manson and Spooky Kids stuff, which finally sealed Manson into my number one band spot. After this I finally bought Nine Inch Nails' The Fragile, which lead me into buying every halo and random import of theirs I could find. They became my other favorite band next to Manson.

I was in college at that point, and I met this girl named Angie who I somehow became friends with. She was all punk and I was all metal, and really it's some sort of rule that we're supposed to hate eachother. We became really close though, and wound up going out for a few months, which was nearly impossible considering I was in southern IL and she was in Chicago (and sometimes Michigan). Anyway, she got me into punk, something I didn't know existed outside of bands I hated such as Blink 182 and ones I tolerated like Greenday and Offspring. Of course, she never liked anything I showed her except Incubus (they had put out Make Yourself around that time).

I mostly stuck with the Ataris at first, but wound up liking everything that was on Kung Fu records at the time... Assorted Jellybeans, Useless I.D.... and especially Apocalypse Hoboken. I tried to get more stuff from them, but it proved nearly impossible. I found out around this time that they were actually a local Chicago punk band, but I never got to see any shows thanks to my college being where it was. They became my favorite punk band, but recently broke up... Led to me buying more of their stuff on eBay heh.

So punk lead into other random things... I got even more into NIN and grew out of metal. I was tired of it, and other than a few bands (Manson and Jack Off Jill mostly) I ditched it completely. I wound up getting into stuff that was simliar to NIN in a sense that it had a industrial style sound to it with good vocals. Curve, 12 Rounds, godhead and Deadsy come to mind. I also got into Cibo Matto and G-Love and Special Sauce when I was looking for simliar things.

Around this time I found The Pixies, who I had heard of, but never really listened to. The more I played, the more I loved them... I bought all the CDs, but they broke up so long ago. There won't be any new shows lol. I got into a Bowie kick too. I always liked him, but now I'm like in love with anything he put out. I'm on my way to buying all of his stuff as well (CDs and DVDs). Ziggy Stardust comes out on DVD soon :D.

So anyway, lots of different stuff... Most not even mentioned. I tend to stick with punk, basic rock and industrial (or whatever you want to call it, as long as there is singing --- screaming like Ministry drives me nuts). A lot of stuff I liked long ago it laughable to me now.

Last CD I bought was Bowie's Greatest Hits and some Apocalypse Hoboken vinyls.

WOW that was an interesting story! I like effort in posts about threads (especially my ones  ). I like quite a few of Manson's songs but I don't like him personally. Bit of a freak lol.

Yeah like you did with Napster, I enjoy downloading any old crappy song I can find on Kasaa and other things of course, but thats a different matter ;). I wish my parents like rock of any form, I'm sure they used to, but it wasn't as heavy back then and basically everyone did in that era.

We get to live in an era of rude boys ruling the streets at night. Good ol hoods up caps down *tries not to offend anyone*, but I would like to live in a safe environment, without the cool, hip hop, doing drugs for a reputation era with crime and MC wannabes HELP! :nervous: (Probably doesn't effect everyone, but the garage music sucks is my main point I think lol :demon: )

::rubs hands together::

Alrighty then! Music.... gotta love music. I love all types. Yes, all types. You name it and I've listened to it: Punk, metal, ska, classic/new/alternative rock, pop, reggae, indie, industrial, rap/hip-hop, r&b, soul, jazz, gospel, bagpipe, classical, country, bluegrass, electronica, etc. etc. etc. Now, I like all these types of music--because music is the universal language--BUT that does not mean I like everything that's out there. Quite the opposite, I'm extremley meticulous about what bands' music I buy and which songs I listen to. Currently, I'm leaning toward 311-type music, like Pipe Dream (not The Band of Chicago) and well, 311 themselves. 311 is probably my favorite band, because their sound is so ..... original and unique, and versatile. Other than that, I don't claim any bands to be my "favorites", because I'm not going to buy every single one of a band's albums; I don't have that type of money. I literally research a band and then their individual albums online before I consider going out to the store and buying it. Anywho..

The last cd I got was Metallica's Black album (yeah, I know it's old), and I got it for Christmas. I've always liked Metallica, but not enough for me to buy any of their cd's, though I like tons of their songs. Well, I got Apocalyptica's first album for my birthday and I fell in love with it (it's Metallica being played on four cellos), and that got me back into Metallica and I started researching all the songs I liked, and a good bit of them were on the Black album. I might get one of their older albums later on. And then the last cd I actually bought and was not given to me was.... ::thinks:: Instant Winner's two albums. They're a band from Oregon; I had to mail off a money order and got them in the mail. The last cd I actually got *in a store* here was Michael Jackson's Greatest Hits Vol.1. I also recently burned a mp3 cd; it has lot's of Pipe Dream, Accidental Superhero, Yellowcard, *Brodie*, Dynamite Boy, Secret Agent 8, Sonny, aaaand... oh yeah, some Finch as well. I already have Finch's stuff, some of it, but I found another one of their songs and decided to throw it in there. But yeah, i guess this is a piece of my musical taste. Sorry it's so long. ^_^

Latest Cd I bought would be Crowded House' best of. Great album. Before that it would have been One by One, Foo Fighters, which also kicks ***. Rock would easily be my favourite genre, anything rocky, I love. Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, Tool, Powderfinger, RHCP, the Vines, just to name a few.
I have baggged out rap since joining the boards, but as much as I hate to say it, I am giving in. I am starting to like it, don't own any cd's but still.
Least favourite would easily be country. DIE KASEY CHAMBERS!!!

Latest album that I bought was UNION JAP by PENICILLIN if I remember right... the latest single was gravity by LUNA SEA.

Latest tune I can't get out of my head? everlasting dream by hamasaki ayumi, even if it is just an intro track. I keep hearing it...

My favorite genre of music... uh, probably pop-rock. Least favorite would be noise (which is surprisingly a genre of music now).

Favorite band is L'Arc~en~Ciel, favorite singer is hide.

What was the latest album/single you got?
Ah, you used the right word right there when you said "got" because I have "bought" a CD in a good while(havent been able to afford em.), but the latest full CD that I downloaded was DJ Babu's "Duck Season". Hot album right there. Somewhat of a mix CD, so I highly recommend that yall check that out.

What's the latest tune you just can't get out of your head?
"Nail in the Coffin(AKA Grandfather Rap)" by Eminem. For those that never heard this track yet(because its only on a mix tape), its a diss towards Benzino(you know, the guy that does that track called "Rock The Party". He's also the owner of the hip hop magazine known as the Source.). But this track I just cant stop listenin to. This and "Invasion", "Infinite", and "Lose Yourself(Green Lantern Remix)" by Eminem. Definetly 4 hot tracks by Em right there.

What's your favourite and worst genre of music?
Hmm, theres a good bit of genre's that I really like, but my favorite would have to be hip hop(Metal comes in a VERY close second and Techno/Electronica comes in a very close third.). Now as for the worst, hands down, I've gotta say country music is the absolute WORST genre of music of all time.

Last, but not least what/who is your favourite band/singer?
Hmmm, at the moment...its really hard to say so I guess I'll say the EF@MM(underground hip hop group). They just recently came out with an album called "Happy F**k You Songs" and I must say, that is one of the hottest albums lyrically, and one of the funniest albums of all time.

Well, there's my picks. ^_^

What was the latest ambum/single you got?
Last one would be... either Now 11, or BoA- #1. I bought them both at the same time, so I really can't say which one I got first. I really liked BoA for a while now, but I think I just noticed her first song when she sang with G.O.D. At the music festival in Seoul. It was awesome! ^^ Even though... I just saw it on T.V.. Now 11 has the best mix I've seen in a long time. I'm pretty surprised they had so much rock comapred to the other Nows'.

What's the latest tune you just can't help get out of your head?
Hmm.. This is a hard one... It's either the Korean/Japanese remix of #1, from BoA, Running away- Hoobastank, Eternal Love-F'nkl, Heaven- DJ sammy and...somebody, or Lose yourself- Eminem. I get alot of songs stuck in my head, and #1 is definately one that's going to be stuck in my head for a looong time.

What's your favorite/worst genre of music?
Favorite, would either be techno, rock, Japanese/Korean pop, Filipino, or pop. *dodges tomatoes* Basically I like anything with a nice tune, really great lyrics, or something easy to dance to. My worst would have to be something a little too slow...

Who/what is your favorite band/singer?
*snickers* Bands, it would have to be... F'nkl, G.O.D., H.O.T., Baby Vox, L'arc~en~ciel (just started listening), Linkin Park, or S.E.S. My favorite artists would have to be... BoA, Christina Aguilera *dodges tomatoes*, Lee Jeung Hyun, Amuro Nami (sp?), Enya, Shakira, Eminem, or Michelle Branch.

That was fun. ^_^ *dodges tomatoes*

Edit: Here's a few more favorite singers/bands: Smashing Pumpkins, No Doubt, Jennifer Lopez, Blink182, and Avril Lavigne...

Eh heh...I got a Beatles album.

What's the latest tune you just can't get out of your head?
Yellow Submarine, Eleanor Rigby, and Lose Yourself (just heard it on the radio). yes, i have more than one tune in my head at once. It's very confusing.

What's your favourite and worst genre of music?
I don't really have a favourite genre of music. I like certain singers and certain songs.
Worst genre is definetely rap (with the exception of Eminem, he's ok).

What/who is your favourite band/singer?
The Beatles, Robbie Williams, Eminem, Matchbox 20, Destiny's Child, Shakira...ya, it's a real mix of music.

What was the latest album/single you got?
I got two U2 CDs today: "Rattle and Hum" and "Zooropa" (I also got "The Joshua Tree" for christmas)

What's the latest tune you just can't get out of your head?
U2: I still haven't found what I'm looking for

What's your favourite and worst genre of music?
I don't really have a favourite.. but I can't stand the really heavy kind of rock. I'm ok with it up to a certain point (but not particularly fond of it), but past that point I just can't stand it

What/who is your favourite band/singer?
..there are many..

My favourite right now is Gareth Robinson, closely followed by U2. Then the rest come in any old order:

Tim Hughes, Brenton Brown (and the rest of the vineyard people), Stereophonics, Robbie Williams (hey.. I have to support Robbie.. he's from my home city of Stoke On Trent ;) )

What was the latest album/single you got?
I don't buy many albums or singles, since most of the music I like is unavailable in the UK. I could buy them at HMV, but the prices are a tad too high -_-

What's the latest tune you just can't get out of your head?
There are quite a few.. 'Mexico' by Incubus would probably be the song that is sticking most in my head, due to the fact that I'm trying to learn how to play and sing it for a school performance next year.

Three other songs are all by ColdPlay - 'Warning Sign', 'clocks' and 'One I Love' are all excellent songs from 'A Rush Of Blood To The Head'.

What's your favourite and worst genre of music?
The only genre of music that I really don't like is garage. It drives me up the wall because of it's repetative beats and mindless talk about how 'hard' the 'crews' are. It's like they take a good piece of Hip Hop and kill it by turning the tempo up to unbearable speeds.

What/who is your favourite band/singer?
My favourite band and singers change quite regularly, but overall they would have to be:
Incubus, Brandon Boyd (yes he's the lead of Incubus, but his voice is incredible by itself :)), Reveille, ColdPlay, Oleander, Our Lady Peace, System of a Down, U2, R.E.M, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Linkin Park and Usher (All I can think of right now methinks, lol).

Edit - I think I'll add a composer in there too. Nobuo Uematsu, who did a lot of the music for the Final Fantasy series :)

The last CD that I got that was bought and not burnt was Mindless Self Indulgence: Frankenstein Girls Will Seem Strangely Sexy. I love that CD and I'm so addicted to listening to that band constantly. The last two CDs I got though were burned and they were Mindless Self Indulgence: Alienating our Audience and Staind: Dysfunction. Those are both pretty good.

What's the latest tune you just can't get out of your head?
It's always some wacky MSI tune. Or some STUPID Christmas song. I am always singing "I saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause" year freaking round.

What's your favourite and worst genre of music?
My favorite would have to be rock music. Just a general there. I don't like to get into specifics because I don't want to make myself sound stupid. Worst would be rap and country. And R&B. I hate all of that crap.

Last, but not least what/who is your favourite band/singer?
I have two favorite bands as of now. Mindless Self Indulgence and A Perfect Circle. My favorite singer would probably be...GOSH, there's way more than one... Jimmy Urine, MSI, Billy Corgan, the Smashing Pumpkins, and Jay Gordon, Orgy. And lots more...of course.

Happy Birthday to Me from All Purpose Cultural Cat Girl Nuku Nuku

What's your favourite and worst genre of music?
My favorite kind of music would have to be rock. I've gotten into a lot of rock bands over the past couple of years; Good Charlotte, Linkin Park, System of a Down, other stuff like that. As for the genre I hate, I don't really hate any type of music, but the genre that doesn't appeal to me the most is country.

Last, but not least what/who is your favourite band/singer?
That would be Good Charlotte. I really like another singer from Japan, but I can't rememver her name....blast my pitiful short-term memory....

The last cd i bought was Filter which i actually didn't like that much, but for 2 songs.

The last song that i had stuck on my head was El MIercoles de Ceniza.

My absolute favorite type of music would have to be Spanish Rock. The one i dislike the most,...well actually it's between tow: pop, or pseudo Spanish rockers such as Shakira or Mana. *throw-up*

My favorite band is CAIFANES, who later became Jaguares. No surprise if you haven't heard of them, they're Sapnish Rock. Basically i'm the only person i know that was born in the states and is still heavily into Spanish Rock, anybody else out there who shares the passion???
