Star Wars: The Battle of Ruusan

It is 1000 years before the Battle of Yavin. The Sith and The Jedi are engaged in a titanic battle on the planet Ruusan, the outcome of which will decide the fate of the galaxy.

The Jedi are led by a Powerful Jedi Master named Lord Hoth. The Jedi have taken a beating, and are recruiting force sensitive individuals and pressing them into battle to make up for their horrific losses. They are in dire straights, and must hold out until a transport of Jedi reinforcements arrives from Courscant.

The Sith are lead by a Sith Lord named Kaan. He is not a very powerful sith, but is a brilliant tactician. He is defeating the Jedi so far and needs to finish them off before their reinforcements arrive. His rival among the Sith is an extremely powerful warrior, Darth Bane. Bane is a master of the dark side and feels that the Sith shouldn?t fight the Jedi in ground engagements. He wants the Sith to combine their powers and create a firestorm that will destroy the remaining Jedi.

On the planet of Ruusan?

Abob sits on the floor of his tent, which is near the center of the Jedi encampment. He sits cross legged, his eyes closed. He takes a deep breath, and then exhales. He repeats this process for several minutes, and then his eyes snap open, and his jumps to his feet.

Young Padawaan: "Master, what it?"

Abob: "Nothing important. Go back to your master and tell him to prepare for battle and sound the alarm. I have seen a vision of a huge Sith offensive."

Young Padawaan: "Yes."

The boy runs out of the tent, drawing his lightsaber as he goes. A single tear runs down Abob's face. It was horrible to watch someone so young being exposed to the horrors of war. Padawaans were not usually allowed to carry lightsabers until they were ten. This boy was barely seven. But if they didn?t fight the Sith would destroy everything good in the galaxy.

He mounts his speeder bike and heads for the front lines?

The assault came quick and swiftly, Marth didn't even see it coming.

The Sith exploded out of the ground, the evil Force blind soldiers laying down torrents of fire at Marth's posistion. As he watched, one yound padawn, barley 12, was cut down by a Sith lord. Marth exploded from hsi crouching posistion, cathing the Sith off guard.

Marth's sbaer arched though the Sith, cleaving him from head to waist. The two halves split apart, the face frozen in a state of shock, and amusement.

Force lighting exploded beside Marth, but he used the Force to channle it...This was going to a long, tiring battle...

Issac sat in a meditating position. Just then he heard a tremendous crash. He got up as fast as the eye could see. There lay a young man about 18 years of age. He lay half-dead about to die, he said " You must go, they are comi ... ". He died then and there. Issac, mad with rage though all kept inside, left off.

Issac: They will pay ...

He left off to the front lines about to fight the toughest battle of his life. The man you ask ? He was his brother. Issac knew this battle was gonna' be a big one . He could allready hear the explosions.

Issac: Oh boy. Well ... here goes !

The Jedi encampment had erupted into chaos after the Sith attack.

Masters, Knights and Padawaans running in every conceivable direction. They all had a simple common goal: protect the galaxy and defeat the Sith. Should their dangerous opponents be allowed to escape they would take to the space lanes and destroy anything in their way. The older Holocrons told of an ancient battle between the Sith empire and the Republic. It had been the bloodiest conflict to date, and the Jedi didn't want to see it happen again. That was why the Sith had to be stopped now.

A lone speeder bike roars through the Jedi camp, weaving through the thousands of Jedi warriors towards the front lines. Its rider was a reptilian humanoid alien, with green scaled skin and black hair. His robes were simple Jedi robes, modeled after peasant robes of an age gone by. The robes symbolized the Jedi ideal of serving the people of the galaxy, although many Jedi on this planet had traded their robes for combat armor.

Abob reached the front lines and jumped from his speeder bike. He used the force to propel himself up and over the front line of Jedi warriors and directly into the middle of a group of Sith soldiers.
He drew his lightsaber and ignited it with a push of a button. A black blade instantly rose from the hilt and skewered an enemy soldier who had been about to shoot Abob. He turned and slashed horizontally with his lightsaber, then flipped backwards into the combat line with the other Jedi.

Lord Hoth: "Abob, flashy entrances aren't the Jedi way old friend."

Abob: "Would you like me to tell the rest of the camp about your youth? All the charges you led?"

Lord Hoth: "Hahaha! Those were the days..."

The Jedi begin to advance cutting down all in their way with little mercy...

Sorry about not posting yesterday....I had to wash the dishes...0_o

*Back on Courscant at the Jedi Traning Academy*

Keiko was traning herself to death. She was mad at herself because she failed one of her most important traning sessions with her master yesterday. She thought that if she trained harder she'd pass next time. Her age (18) was a very important time for padawan to start their trials if their master thought they were ready. Her master was just giving her a taste of it and she messed up. Now even her master who is usually quite hard on her if getting worried because Keiko never does this sort of thing...even if she does mess up.

Master Yanno Turiya: *She's being too hard on herself. I've never seen her act like this before. Maybe I should talk to her.*

Her master had been watching her the minute their traning session was over and she started her own.

Keiko: *I have to get stronger! Or else I'll never be able to pass the trials when I'm 21! I can't fail Master Yanno!*

She looked so beaten up. She was praticing with a droid at blocking some shots with her lightsaber. You could see the pink-and-orange lightsaber swish every time she moved just a bit.

Master Yanno: "Keiko, why don't we call it a day? It's late and you need your rest for tommorow's traning."

Keiko: "But master, if I don't master this new technique, what's the use of traning tommorow!"

Master Yanno: "You train to get better! Really now, you're being too hard on yourself! Just give it a rest! You can't learn this sort of thing in just a day! It took Master Yoda 5 days just to understand this sort of technique!"

Keiko stopped and turned off her lightsaber. She looked at her master who had a sincere look on his face.

Master Yanno: "Please....just stop for today. I promise we'll continue tommorow. Trust me, you will master it in time. Just do not kill yourself with bad thoughts. You have 3 years to train until your trails. And I know you will be ready by then. That's why I set that date."

She looked into his sincere eyes and decided that he was right.

Keiko: "Yes master, you're proably right as usual."

Master Yanno: "Well then, c'mon. You need your rest."

Master Yanno stopped for a split second and sniffed the air. He had a childish look on his face.

Master Yanno: "But first we shall go eat."

Keiko smiled a bit. Her master always had a good sense of humor and a good attitude. She loved him so much. She couldn't have a better master then him.

Sorry....I will have to double post on this but I want to post a picture of my character.

Abob and the hundred or so other Jedi on the front lines of the battle were steadily advancing, leaving behind a literal carpet of bodies.

He advanced forward, his robes covered in blood. They were winning, easily. It was too good to be true. Not a single Sith Lord or apprentice had come out to fight yet. Only mindless minions, who were barely skilled enough to handle the primitive blaster weapons they used.

Suddenly there was a rumbling noise in the distance. All of the combatants froze in place, listening to this strange loud noise.

Abob: "Lord Hoth, there seem to be no Sith in this battle."

Lord Hoth: "I know. Where could they be?"

Abob: "Could our spies have been right about Darth Bane? Is he powerful enough to convince the Sith to combine their powers and attempt to destroy us?"

Lord Hoth: "That would explain their absence. We must retreat!"

The Jedi begin to run, and Abob hops on his speeder bike and moves to the front of the fleeing forces.

The rumbling grows louder, and louder. Abob chances a look behind him and sees a huge wall of flame rapidly approaching. It was going to catch them any second now...

Jedi screamed as the flame began to reach the back of the group. Soon nearly all the Jedi were killed, except the ones who could fly or had speeders, which were flying a mere thirty feet in front of the wall of flame. They could outrun it for now, but speeders must refuel eventually. Then, as suddenly as it had started, the firestorm stopped, and vanished.

The remaining Jedi looked with horror on the bodies of their fallen comrades...

Marth stared in horror as the wall of fire flew past him, barley fivehundered meters away. He saw the Jedi on the other front run away from it, but Marth knew they were doomed....Then the wall of fire dissapeared.

Suddenly, the Sith Marth weer fighting ran away, retreating to thier own lines. Marth stood up, and began to run over to where Lord Hoth was standing...He needed to knwo what had just happened.

Abob and the twenty remaining Jedi stood at the edge of the scorched battlefield in a protective ring around their leader, Lord Hoth.

He looks out over the battlefield with a sense of despair and rising anger. Over three quarters of the Jedi contingent was dead. The only survivors besides them were the younger Padawaans and those who had stayed to guard the camp. They needed reinforcements, fast.

A lone figure jogged towards them, carrying a lightsaber. This newcomer was dressed as a Jedi, but you could never be too careful these days.

Abob: "Halt. State your name and business."

???: "I am Marth, I need to speak to Lord Hoth."

Lord Hoth: "Let him come."

The circle of Jedi opens to let Marth in, and then quickly reforms to continue to shield their leader.

Marth: "What happened?"

Lord Hoth: "Our spies were correct. Darth bane is indeed rising in power among the Sith. He must have convinced them to combine their powers to create a firestorm of this magnitude."

Marth: "Why aren?t we all dead now?"

Lord Hoth: "It's simple when yo-"

Jedi Guard: "Another firestorm approaching from the south!"

Lord Hoth: "Link together through the force. Draw strength from one another and create a shield around all of us."

Abob and the other Jedi sit and begin to meditate, strengthening each other through the force. They create a small bubble of safety in front of the approaching storm, and wait with apprehension, as the wall of destruction grows closer.

They are all shaken as the fire hits the shield, and begins to move over them. Many Jedi pass out because of the strain, but the force shield holds until the firestorm has passed.

The Jedi stand, gasping for breath, some struggling to regain their balance.

Lord Hoth: "Marth, did you fell the force moving through us when we created our shield?"

Marth: "Yes, it felt like you were drawing strength from all of us to form the shield."

Lord Hoth: "Exactly. The Sith don?t trust each other as we do. They would feel as if someone was sucking the force from them, and withdraw from the bond."

Marth: "So that is why the first firestorm collapsed. They didn?t trust each other enough to hold the bond for long."

Abob: "Then why was there a second firestorm?"

Lord Hoth: "The second was much weaker than the first, we wouldn?t have been able to survive it otherwise. It must have been the work of a single Dark Lord. Most likely Darth Bane."

Abob: "You are wise master. I will go now to send a message for reinforcements to the Jedi Temple."

Lord Hoth: "Ask the for everyone they have. We must triumph..."

Celestine grimiced at the pain. She squeezed her arm as she walked inside. She had been shot again, only this time, by her former master. She walked into a small room, a bowed before her new master. One who was much more powerful than her last.

"Lord Kaan."

He didn't answer. A hooded man watched over the battle, all but his eyes hidden in the shadow of the hood.

"The jedi are falling quickly." He hissed. His cold breath sending a chill up her spine. "It seems this battle will end in our favor shortly."

Celestine sat down, and smiled.

"The jedi are running out of time." She said, biting her lip to fight away the pain. "We will win, master."

"We must still continue to be careful. The jedi are well known to plan their attacks carefully."

Celestine rose and walked up to the man, bowing once again.

"They will not be successful."

Marth watched Abob receed into the Jedi camp to send a call to the temple for re-enforcement, Marth approached Lord Hoth.

Marth:Lord Hoth, if the Sith do not trust eachother as we do, why are we still fighting this war of attrition?

Lord Hoth:That is a good question, Marth..I will meditate on this some nightfall...

Suddenly, a lighting storm forms on the horizon..

Padawan:That isn't a normal storm...It feels sad..and angry..

Lord Hoth:Agreed...It's a Sith trick!

Marth:Give me your strenght, Jedi! I will block the storm!

The Jedi stare at Marth, but with a command from Lord Hoth, the Jedi focused thier strenght into Marth. Suddenly, the first blot struck Marth, then another, and another. A blue glow enveloped Marth, and he cast the dark energy back to it's point of origin, where it exploded...Marth collapses on the ground from the energy draining block. Lord Hoth quickly aummons medics, and Marth is taken off to a medic tent until he is healed..

A loud rumbling was heard above the Jedi, and they all stared upwards. All of them could feel a large power inside the force, but it was not hostile. They all felt a twinge of ease when a Jedi dropship suddenly appeared through the clouds, dropping rapidly to the surface of the planet. It landed at the front of the Jedi encampment, and the hatchway slid open, releasing dust from the planet's surface. It the hatchway, they saw the sillhouette of a very small figure with unusually large ears. Lord Hoth smiled.

Lord Hoth: Master Craig...

The small Jedi walked quickly down the ramp, followed by his padawan, and five other Jedi. Craig's padawan was fifteen, which wasn't too bad. They were pleased to see that all the others who stepped off were atleast twenty, which was very promising... as they were used to seeing a lot of very young padawans in battle.

Lord Hoth: Never before have I been so happy to see you, my old friend.

Craig: Great distress I sensed in you. I gathered, as quickly as I could... all the Jedi Knights able to fight.

Lord Hoth: We will be most grateful for your help. Abob is, as we speak, sending out for re-inforcements.

Padawan: I think we are fighting a war we cannot win.

Craig: Yet, try we must young one... trust to your own strength, or trust to the victory of the enemy.

Abob was in the communications tent, speaking to the Jedi High Council over the holonet. He had been petitioning them to send reinforcements for over an hour now, but his deft arguments and talk of impending doom had fallen on dead ears. In disgust he used the force to crush the holo-transmitter into dust, and then stalked out of the room.

It was then that he sensed it, first just a whisper on the breeze. Craig had arrived. His heart lifted and he began to run like a child toward the center of the ripples in the force. He comes around the corner of a tent, and sees a drop-ship sitting in the mud. Around it are over thirty Jedi, mostly newcomers.

Abob: "Master Craig! It has been too long since I have seen you!"

Craig: "Nice to see you, it is. A great disturbance in the force, I sensed from this planet. Gathered all the Knights possible, I did and here I brought them."

Abob: "You have come at a most convenient time. We were just reduced in size by tenfold by a force enhanced firestorm."

Craig: "Not the work of Lord Kaan, this is. A new threat, we may face."

Lord Hoth: "Our spies have identified a 'Darth Bane', who has been gaining power and exploring forbidden dark side secrets. If his plans come to pass it appears as if all is lost. He is a true Sith, deadly to the core."

Craig: "Troubling this is. Sensed I did, a great evil on this planet. Blocking out all hope, it seems to be..."

Marth: "We can still defeat it though. We have almost three hundred Jedi left. We can take to the hills and use guerilla tactics."

Lord Hoth: "The Jedi will fight as warriors, not as criminals."

Abob: "It is our best chance for survival. We have no natural protection here."

Lord Hoth: "Very well. We will leave under the cover of darkness. I also hand over command to Craig, in light of his superior battle experience."

Craig: "Thank you, I do. Command I will, our assembled army. A terrible task this will be..."

The Jedi say their farewells and disperse, to prepare for their next battle. Abob suddenly hears a voice in his head, and walks back towards the drop ship.

Craig: "[A commando team, I have prepared. Join it, you should. Tonight will we strike...]"

In the horizon, a second Jedi Ship was seen. The ship began it's descent course, and touched down outside the communications tent where Abob, Marth, Craig and Lord Hoth were speaking. A platform extended and a rather elderly looking Jedi Master strode forth from the ship.

He was followed by at more than 15 Jedi Knights and 1 Padawan learner. The Padawan appeared to be about 16 or 17 and was nearly ready to take the trials by the look of him. Though he may not live to see them. The Jedi Master and his Padawan walked forward and greeted the other, he took down his hood and began to speak with Abob, Craig and Lord Hoth

Alex: My friends, it is good to see you again, alive under such circumstances. I noticed that the Sith under Lord Kaan and Lord Bane have begun to bombard you with firestorms. I have brought several Jedi Knights I was working with from Yavin 4. They are well training and will serve the cause well, as will I and my Padawan here.

Craig: Master McNeill, good it is too see you again. Your Padawan appears to bear you skills I see. My own Padawan is one of the finest I have ever trained, sure I am he will grow and great Jedi become.

Lord Hoth: Alex my Friend, what were you doing on Yavin 4, I thought there was only Jungles there. But I must tell you, we are forced to use Guerilla tactics against the Sith for we are to few in number. With yours and Master Craig's re-enforcements we still only have about 350 troops. We are moving into the hills under the advice and command of Master Craig.

Alex: Then I will tell you I agree with Master Craig's decision. It is foolhardy to fight a battle in open ground, with fatigued and low morale troops. If we fight in small skirmishes then we can hold out long enough for more re-enforcements.

Abob: Master McNeill, I am wondering, what were you doing on Yavin 4

Alex: I will explain it to you all when the time is right, but now is not that time, let us going inside so I can tell the Council of my arrival

Odra Ravenwood was en route to Coruscant to collect a bounty when the comm panel of her small Farbanian transport beeped. As she switched on the holographic display, Odra was taken aback by the figure that appeared.

Odra: impatient, Who are you?

The man's eyes narrowed and became lost under a hooded cloak.

?: I am Lord Kaan of the Sith, and I have a proposition for you.

Odra cocked an eyebrow, giving the Sith a questioning smile. When she spoke her voice skirted the fringes of sarcasm.

Odra: Is it the sort of thing where I have to accept it or I'll find myself under the wrath of, well, you?

Kaan's face, barely visible, remained expressionless.

Lord Kaan: You need to make your way to the planet of Ruusan and meet with myself and other high Lords.

Odra: But?

Lord Kaan: Do not interrupt me. [There was an eerie, menacing silence.] If you succeed in the task that is put upon you, then you will be rewarded.

The word 'reward' had always made Odra's mouth water in a quick flash of temptation. She glanced toward the back of her transport where her bounty was sitting; bound and quite unconscious.

Odra: I have business on Coruscant first, so?

Lord Kaan: I don't believe that would be a wise decision.

His words hung in the air and pulsed cold through Odra's veins. She wasn't ignorant to the strength of the Sith, and ignoring this Lord's command would only bring her further troubles...that was something even she couldn't afford.

Sighing with defeat, Odra nodded solemnly.

Odra: Send me the coordinate and I will come immediately.

The corners of Lord Kaan's mouth twitched and allusioned toward a smile.

Lord Kaan: Odra Ravenwood, you are a smart girl.

When the Sith's figure disappeared, Odra brought a clenched fist down on the control panel.

Odra: Shit.

Frustrated, Odra continued muttering various curses as she glacned at her most recent bounty. She pouted, mockingly.

Odra: And you were so valuable, too. Now what the hell am I supposed to do with you?

All of the newly arrived Jedi Knights and the lone padawaan begin to help the original Jedi prepare to move the encampment to the hills. Craig, Lord Hoth, Marth, Alex and the communication officer remain behind to contact the Jedi High Council.

The small group of Jedi enters the communications tent and arrange for a priority red communiqué to the Jedi Temple. They are put on hold by a Jedi Padawaan, but connected to the council chamber moments later.

Craig: "Masters. Come, I have to the planet Ruusan. Much evil, I sense here. Defeat the Sith, we must at all costs. Advise you I do, to blockade the planet until a one of our forces is victorious. Stop, you must the Sith reinforcements. Critical to our victory, this task will be."

Gand Jedi council member: "With all due respect master Craig; you have disobeyed a direct order from the high council to avoid the Ruusan conflict. It is not the only place in the galaxy in need of order."

Abob: "There won't be much of a galaxy left to impose order on if the Sith emerge from this conflict victorious."

Mon Calamari Council member: "Silence Knight. You must learn your place."

Human Council member: "The council will debate this issue further. In the mean time all Jedi not assigned to the Ruusan conflict are advised to leave the planet or face expulsion from the Jedi order."

Craig: "Then expelled we will be. Stagnate has, the council become. Dangerous to all, this is."

The transmission ends, and all the Jedi leave the tent to prepare to move the camp.

The two drop ships are being loaded with equipment and personnel for the long and dangerous trek into the mountains, to the point of overload. Craig and Alex talk softly a few feet from the tent, while Lord Hoth walks off to discuss this recent turn of events with the rest of the camps Jedi masters.

Craig: "Abob, Marth. Need you I do. A mission, you will undertake."

Abob: "Yes master."

Marth: "Alex, may we enquire to what your business was on Yavin 4?"
