Rancid
So today I was playing GTA:VC and I was pretty far (i had just finished the love fist missions along with the biker ones) and I was on my way to save on a Freeway when all of a sudden it says Error Reading The Grand Theft Auto:Vice City DVD I was sooo angry i wanted to smash my ps2 against the wall. Well I waited a day to play GTA:VC again and there it is again Error Reading The Grand Theft Auto:Vice City DVD". I tried again 5 minutes later and again the same problem. So anyways I was wondering if any of you guys knew how to fix this problem, cause it still happens when I try to play GTA:VC.
Break
Ahh.. that really really sucks. V_V;; Firstly, do any of your other PS2 games not work or have errors when reading the disc? If so, then I'm sorry, but your PS2 is broken. Either the laser is scratched, or has some dust on it. Then again, if it's only Vice City, then it will be the game that is causing the problem. Try to get a new copy or take it in to be repaired or something.
BigCajones
I think if you do loads of cheats that what creates the error like mine, because that what happened to me. I had finished it and it won't let me load, :( I will probably take it back to the shops. The cheats are stupid if they make errors!

What are you taking back to the shop? The PS2 or the game?

BigCajones
Yeah I am, because the game is the one that has crashed not the console that's fine. When I saved it did say warning cheats may effect the game or something like that, but if Rockstar are going to create cheats for this game they need to sort out the technical flaws! :flaming:
RicoTranzrig
That happened with a previous rental. I got it, but the disc was so smudged up, once I started walking around, the PS2 would have this clicking/snapping noise and then the error message would show. So I took it back and got a replacement. Vice City has a lot of real-time access to the DVD to keep up with the complex scenery. So take care of your DVD's and return 'em if you can as defective. Cheats mess up the saves, like in GTA 3 original. Did the tank thing many times, saved, then tried to load again at night, save was corrupted.
BigCajones
Yeah same here on both of the games  they really need to do something about it! I warn you if you do like pedestrian riot and the other pedestrians ones DON'T save or it will stay on there. I did this with one of them turned on through most of GTA 3 which made it very hard to complete missions.
Rancid
I took it back yesterday (Walmart) and I was scared I was going have to the missions all over again but I didn't. I did all the Cuban missions and now I have to do the rest of the Haitan mission do the rest of the Cuban missions. When do I get to do the Sunshine auto's missions?
Nah, I think that the first "batch" of GTA: vice cities had extra errors. The cheats dont mess up the game or PS2 because I didn't use any cheats and the game froze and said "ERROR READING DISC" I was pretty angry as you would imagine. I bought a new copy and it works just fine now!!!! Regards Blade P.S BigCajones I'll talk to you about this later on MSN!!!! :naughty:
James
Cheats will not create a disc read error. That will only happen if you have a faulty disc, a scratched disc or a problematic laser in your PS2. However, cheats will occasionally mess with your game. It depends which cheats you use though. If you just use the weapon and car cheats and stuff, it's fine. But some cheats do cause issues. So if you intend to cheat and save as well, be careful. ~_^
