Semjaza
I haven't done my own post in god knows how long, but I figured this was worth it. I'm sure most people have at least heard of the SNES game Secret of Mana here. It was an excellent action RPG made by Square. The series is known as Seiken Densetsu in Japan, and Secret of Mana was actually the second in the series. The third game wasn't released here (but it has a fan translation), but the original was. However, it was on Gameboy and renamed Final Fantasy Adventure here (the FFLegend games were actually SaGa Frontier games). So anyway, this is a remake of the original Seiken Densetsu, aka Final Fantasy Legend. Newtechnix (found them at GA though) scanned in the shots, as usual... so here they are. These are the first decent shots of the game I've seen so far. Zidargh
This looks fantastic! Even if it doesnt get released here in the UK, at least GBA games (US) work on PAL GBA's. Then I'll just import it or et it when I go over to the US next year and woah, this looks grea. I did not like the Legend of Mana game as it had no plot, but I must raise my collection of GBA games, thanks for gettin this info and screen-shots. Semjaza
I moved this and replied since I guess no one cares. I think it looks great. Yeah, good thing GBA doesn't have region lockouts at all :). I'm looking forward to it, especially considering the only real alternative is Zelda at this point. I think you guys are getting Shining Soul (I think that's the name). It looks somewhat like this, but is based on Sega's Shining Force series. Here's the site for the game: http://www.playonline.com/seiken/index.html
Guest Zeh
I thought it was a remake of Secret of Mana FROM the SNES... i've been looking for it for ages now, i want to paly it so bad again. It's definately Seiken Densetsu though. Characters are the excat same as in Legend of Mana, the cat thing is Niccolo, and the cactus is, well, your pet cactus. The pics are EXATLY the same there, can't wait though, still part of a great series ^^;; Semji always has the latest news. *gives him a cookie*
Semjaza
Yes. It was news when I posted it like 3 months ago heh. Hopefully it will get a bit more exposure in this forum. Looks like a great action adventure game.

Semjaza
Yes. I know heh. Now... Nintendo needs to bring over Magical Vacation and my GBA RPG experience will be complete. FFT just sweetens the deal.
Desbreko
Looks like another must buy for me, lol. I remember hearing about this a long time ago, around when this thread was originally made. I didn't know much about FF Adventure, though, so I didn't really have much of an idea of what this game actually was. I'm really looking forward to it now, though. Anyone know if the release date has been announced, and if so, what is it?
GinnyLyn
Methinks I need to replay Legend of Mana then. For some reason, it rubbed me the wrong way when I played it the first time around. Heh, raising monsters is fun!
Guest Zeh
The title of it's called "Shinyaku Seiken Densetsu"... the release date in Japan still hasn't been finalized, so theres no way i could find something for NA... I couldn't find much else on it... edit: The english name's suppossed to be "Secret of Mana: New Testament" or somewhat like that.
Semjaza
Yeah... and Legend of Mana is significantly different from the other games in the series. If you can get your hands on Secret of Mana for the SNES or Final Fantasy Adventure for the Gameboy (it is a remake of this one afterall), then you'll see what you're in store for. GinnyLyn
I am truly sorry, Sem, but I loathed SNES' Secret of Mana with a passion. I hated the limited amount you could carry of each item. I hated the freaking characters chasing after the leader would always get stuck somewhere, causing all the wild running enemies to whack at me whilst I was trying to get my characters out of the corner they managed to wedge themselves into. I hated the fact that the characters looked a lot like Crono and Marle. I hated the weak story. It's difficult for a game to cause dislike in me, but boy, did Secret ever do a number on me. The plusses included the baby dragon and the nifty animations that you would get as your magic powers got stronger (something ALL RPG games should look back into--that was where FFX was weak). Sadly, those were the only plusses. Legend did a much better job, IMO. But you say this new one's going to be like Secret? *sad sigh*
Semjaza
Well considering Secret of Mana came out years before Chrono Trigger came out, I can hardly blame any character designs on it. The only one I feel is even simliar is the main character. I really liked the game personally. It was one of the first games to have computer controlled allies following you in that manner, and so I can't really get all annoyed by those faults. I personally didn't mind the limited item storage. I will say that I have NO idea how that will be set up in this game though, so there might not even be a reason to worry about that. I don't know that you'll have those same problems with this game though. From what I remember of the original, there never was anyone to play with other than your main character. Secret of Mana was great because if you had a multitap you could play the game with 2 other people. Maybe you'd like it more if you had someone else playing heh. And in terms of Legend of Mana, I didn't really mean it like that... Legend of Mana is basically a game made up of what is really nothing but side quests. The first three games in the series (the second one on SNES, which I think you'd like much better, never came out here) are not set up in that manner. That's what I was referring to. The game is being done by Brownie Brown, who are made up of ex-Square employees. So far they've only done Magical Vacation (which is supposedly amazing, I'm having fun with it even though I don't understand any of it), and based on that I have no worries for this game at all. Basically, think of Zelda with some RPG elements. That's really what this is.
Ninjaman
Wow, I can't wait to get this game. I have Final Fantasy Adventure for the Game Boy and I loved it! The remake looks so nice, considering on how it used to look like in the original. (What the heck is Niccolo doing in there?! I don't mind Lil' Catus, but Niccolo?!) Anyway, I'm definately getting this game and Magical Vacation, if it ever does come here. I wonder what the second was about? I've only seen pics and heard it was quite an excellent game. Too bad it never came here, because I love the series. Maybe they'll remake it for the GBA.
Semjaza
Well the way it is set up is like this: Gameboy - Seiken Densetu JPN = Final Fantasy Adventure US SNES - Seiken Densetu 2 JPN = Secret of Mana US Seiken Densetu 3 = Not released in US PSX - Legend of Mana, released in both (not sure of Japanese name) ---------------- I've played Seiken Densetu 3, which should have been Mana 2... It was quite good. I didn't really like the character designs personally (they were very simliar to those in Legend of Mana), but it allowed a lot of stuff that Secret of Mana didn't and was a lot more polished. I expect this game to improve on the others, as Brownie Brown knows what it is doing (they are the ones doing this for Square). I would expect great things. The game also makes use of the link cable, but I'm not sure to what extent. Should be damn fun to play this two players though :D
Guest Zeh
Thats it! Off to e-bay to go. I'm buying Secret of Mana! Personally, i loved the games for the character design. They almost seemed to be overdone at the start, but you get used to them and really like them. i don't know how i'll be able to play Secret of Mana 2, but i really want to play that too... I just love the way the games work. The japenese title of the game was simply Seiken Densetsu 3. I want to play it so bad, but it came out in '95, in japan, there for we definately aren't getting it
Semjaza
http://www2u.biglobe.ne.jp/~nanko/images/9977.jpg New images from a scan from Quiter. Nice stuff, and some art as well. It's massive, so I won't show it in here.
WickedThought
This game looks nice I might have to try it when it comes out. I am a fan of legend of mana, ignoring the empty plot it had good game play and although a tad to easy for my taste I had fun;)
