How good does this game look? The Graphics are simply amazing, and the game is a mixture of action and stealth. I hear it's had an early series starting on the NES, but this definitely will top that.

What do you all think about the game? Do you know anything else interesting about the game?

Ryu looks so cool, I want to be like him. :D Well the key factors are basically all-out combat and stealth, but the good thing is unlike splinter if you get caught I don't think you will fail your mission.

I heard Ryu can do simple sword combos, throwing shuriken stars, one-hit kills and dodging manoeuvres which will probably prolong his life.

Aside from cutting his enemies in half with one fatal swipe of a blade, Ryu I believe can also suprise his foes like by clinging to walls and attacking from above which is kind of what you were saying Tommy. It will be fun to knock a pillar over a crush a poor little enemy. :)

This game looks like a cross between DOA3 and Splinter Cell, the only real bad thing I have come across so far is that Ninja Gaiden won't be coming out in England until November at least. :(

I played Ninja Gaiden a couple of weeks ago, here is my review!!!

The original Ninja Gaiden (at least here in the states, actually, the series original title in Japan is Ninja Ryukenden) debuted on the NES in 1989, and had the distinction of being one of the first console games to use cinema-scenes to advance the story. Published by Tecmo, the game was a hit and it?s large cult following has been frothing at the mouth ever since for a next-gen adventure starring everyone?s favorite ninja, Ryu Hayabusa(isn't he from Dead or Alive 3???). A few guest spots here and there, a few appearances on various other consoles, but nothing definitive for the current age of gaming. Well boys and girls, Ninja Gaiden is looking like gold and I?m here to tell you: this is one serious ninja game, and the developers working as Team Ninja right now are crafting ninja heaven for all of the ninja faithful (wow, that was like, four ninjas in a row!). Enough of my meanderings though, let?s have a look, shall we?

Ninja Gaiden will take players through stunningly rendered environments and introduce an incredible play style, one that will allow you to truly become the vengeful warrior as you seek retribution for the massacre of your clan at the cruel hand of the Vigor Empire and their leader, the Holy Emperor. In addition to the destruction of the Empire, Ryu is also tasked with retrieving the magic sword, Ryuken, stolen at the time of the destruction of his brother ninja. As Ryu, gamers will have access to a sizeable arsenal of weapons. Though much is still being kept under wraps at this time, rest assured that Ryu?s sword will be a primary melee weapon for skillful ninja combat, and projectile weapons such as shirukens and other, more explosive ranged armaments will come into play as well.

The fighting system and camera work in a synergistic way, and as you fight multiple opponents, the camera aligns dynamically to display the enemy you?re currently targeting. Ryu will kick, punch, and use throws and sword slashes in his efforts to destroy his adversaries. He?ll also be able to power up his sword into a fiery, elemental power-blade that tears through hordes of thugs in style. You?ll make use of the entire gamut of cool ninja moves in battle, like leaping off of the wall, performing a back flip over your opponent?s head, and landing behind them for a little impromptu neck surgery (just a little off the top please). Ryu can also briefly run along the wall and grab objects to swing from. Swinging moves are used in combat, as well as for reaching otherwise inaccessible heights. Other combat moves include the ability to perform one-hit kills and pull off flips and handsprings, not to mention the power to roll quickly between enemies. Acquiring new attacks, skills and weapons depends on your in-game decisions and combat performance, and according to the developers, you?ll be able to save at any time during play, so once you get your upgrade, it?ll be a permanent addition.

Graphically the game is simply stunning, and dare I say, will be something very special to behold when it?s complete. The environments are huge and incredibly detailed, filled with real-time light sourcing, reflections, shadows, bump-mapping and a myriad of motion and blur effects that add a dynamic sense of realism to the proceedings. Ryu?s character model, as well as the enemy thugs and creatures, are stunningly detailed and rendered at DOA3 quality levels. Imagine battling foot-soldiers in subterranean ruins, or taking on a valley full of giant insects, as you spin, kick, somersault and impale to your hearts content, all the while running through an insanely detailed 3D world that features every graphical trick in the book. Yea, I know? high-praise for a game that?s not coming out for some time, but this is something big, I guarantee it. So whether you?re a fan of the original or can?t tell Ryu from Shinobi, Ninja Gaiden looks like a winner all around. Check back with us here at Gaming Target for more info as the 2003 release date approaches.

Closing Impressions
I?ve got to admit, I?m truly excited about this game. There?s no doubt in my mind that once you lay eyes on not only the graphical goodness that is Ninja Gaiden, but also the stunning play mechanics that Team Ninja are implementing for this title, you?ll be hooked like never before. Of the games on the immediate horizon, only Splinter Cell and Panzer Dragoon Orta have the potential to come close to these kinds of visuals. I?m simply stunned by what I?ve seen. Ninja Gaiden releases sometime next year, and it?s only on Xbox.
Regards

Why thanks for all that information, oh and I never knew you lived in the States lol. Looks like website material, but hey saves me looking at Ninja Gaiden's backround. Oh it must be a pretty old review, because it's supposed to be released sometime this year on the X-Box. I myself can't wait and yes there is a bit of a coincidence with Ryu Hayabusa from DOA3 and the Ryu from Ninja Gaiden, but that's why he looks so cool. *enjoys the idea of assasinating* :excited:

Well, ever since you have spoke to me about this, I've been hearing and seeing good things. It looks like an amazing game. What's the fighting system. If it was like the Balde II system, using the right thumbstick to kick and punch etc, I would totally get it. So, someone reply to this, and explain the fighting system to me (preferably someone who owns the game)

I have seen a fair amount of reviews and pictures on this game and it does look amazing. I will get this when it comes out and i haven't really taken much interest in Ninja style games but after seeing screenshots of this game and seeing reviews i have become more impressed. Does anyone know the exact release date of Ninja Gaiden, sorry if someone has already posted it in here i usually miss reading stuff.

Yeah I agree with you Chris when you say this game looks like on big FMV, with the help of Xbox's top notch graphics. You should get an Xbox, it's well worth it Chris you won't regret it in my opinion. This is my most anticipated game for the Xbox this year (so far!) and I will definately be getting it. I can't wait to slice someone up!

Vercetti in England Ninja Gaiden should be released in June sometime, but I'm expecting it to be released alot earlier in places like USA. :(

Blade, I'm suspicious that 'your review' isn't actually yours. Your post was weird, saying you're excited about this game, but you've played it already?
Anyway, I haven't heard much information about this game, it's not getting many big articles in magazines, just small boxes of information. I don't think there is a link between Ryu in DOA3 and Ryu in Ninja Gaiden, but who knows? Isnt the hero in Shenmue II called Ryu too?

Yeah I believe that is correct. Also there is a Ryu in the Street Fighter games, it's a popular name for computer game heroes obviously. Ninja Gaiden has been going on longer than DOA 3 so I doubt there is a connection, unless DOA stole Ninja Gaiden's character.
The Blade thing is a bit odd unless Blade was talking about playing the original series, I don't know!?! Looks like a sites review lol, but any information is helpful. :box:

Yes, I remeber the original DOA being released on the PSX. Ninja Gaiden does looks great, graphics wise, action wise, and storyline wise.
Anyway, just to clear this whole Blade thing up, about whether he stole that article etc. Well, he obviously did because
Originally stolen by Blade
Check back with us here at Gaming Target for more info as the 2003 release date approaches.
Busted. Pleasee, just add credit to others reviews, or say that you've found it. Maybe even provide a link instead of p[asting the whole article.

The thing that makes no sense...? NO ONE HAS PLAYED NINJA GAIDEN YET. Someone should have caught that right away lol. It's not out anywhere, and no one in the press has played it. They've seen movies and demonstrations, just like we have.

Anyway, this is Team Ninja we're talking about. I think DOA is a poor man's Virtua Fighter, DOAX I have little to say of... Thanks to this, I don't expect much from Ninja Gaiden other than great graphics and shallow gameplay.

After watching all those movies of it... Nothing reminds me of the old Ninja Gaiden games even remotely. It looks like DMC with a ninja, and I can't say that excites me.

The hero in Shenmue is Ryo, not Ryu. Ryu is the name of a guy in Street Fighter, a guy in Breath of Fire... But before all those, there was a Ryu in Ninja Gaiden in the arcades and on the NES.

Tecmo always made Ninja Gaiden, just as they've always made DOA. In fact, it's the exact same guy. They share last names and everything (Ryu Hayabusa). His appearance in the DOA series was more or less a cameo.
