Guest Musahi
Virtua Fighter 4 : Evolution Searching through IGN I saw something I had not before. A new VF coming to ps2. Great news for most fighting game fans. I enjoyed Tekken much more, but VF4 was still a great fighter. I looked into it. I watched a small video they had up, it was nothing special. Just some characters and a few small clips of in game combat. Which by the way looked pretty smooth. I don't know much about the game but it looks pretty ok so far. What is your take on it? Maybe this thread will get more than one reply.
Sniglefager
well, I just got VF4, and now I heard about this one a couple weeks ago. Personnaly, the game looks pretty cool, but I'm probably not gonna buy it. Why bother, when I just got VF4? Plus, I hear it's not gonna be that much of a change. A few new charecters, some new levels, that's about it. If it has online play though, I'm definetly gonna buy it
Bing
Heh, this game made my day. In a shop, they had it up, and me and Weh battled for about 20 minutes, shouting, jumping up and down, bashing up the controllers. I was the master at it, but then a new competitor came, Big Cajones the Button Basher. He whooped my ***. Lots. This game was alot of fun, especially as a big tournament! You should it Cyko, it's alot of fun, and the graphics are pretty superb
-D-
virtual fighter 4 evolution is not really a new game in the vf series. like said before, it is only vf4 with two new characters...thats about all. dont let that stop you from going out and buying this game though. its good, enjoy the fighting.D
Sephiroth
Not much added to the game, better graphics, 2 new characters to name a few If your a VF fan then don't hesitate to get this, but if you have VF4 already then you might want to think about trading it in for VF4: Evo
-D-
if you really want to get into the fighting game genre, i suggest you take a gander at Tekken 4 and Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance(5).both of these titles should keep you busy for awhile. maybe too long...anyways, happy game hunting.D
Syk3
Yeah, I heard something about this. That is, I heard about it, but have not heard what it had in it. o_O I own Virtua Fighter 4, myself, which is by far the greatest fighting game I've ever played. I'd probably like to get Evolution, but I'm perfectly happy with this version. And with only two new characters, I don't think it's worth the money. Plus, if you don't have either, Virtua Fighter 4 is only $20 now, so I'm not sure why they even bothered to come out with another.
Sniglefager
actually, I heard that Mortal Kombat Deadli Alliance wasn't that good. I do know that Tekken 4 rocks though, as I've played it. I'm still not gonna trade in my VF4 for evolution. It's almost the exact same thing. I'll rent it for sure, but unless they add something more than 2 new charecters, I'm not buying. I'll wait for Soul Calibur
BigCajones
Yesh I think Virtua Fighter 4 is extremely fun. I also heard there could be another game which will most likely come out if the Microsoft buy SEGA, but it will still probably come out anyway if they don't succeed in buying the company. It's called Virtua Fighter Quest which is an RPG-style adventure game I have heard. It should feature all the characters from Virtua Fighter. Could be fun ... Anyway if you have Virtua Fighter 4, I don't think it will be worth getting Evolution unless your a big fan of the Virtua Fighter series. :)
Bing
If you ask me, they are all the same, but's that my point of view *hides under a pancake* But, that game was fun, I was in hysterics playing it, it was really competitive, yet not too hard. An RPG-Based-Beat-Em-Up sounds...hmm, interesting to say the least! Where did you hear about that?
BigCajones
My sources are usually from my magazines. :P I don't know how many consoles that game will be on though, especially if Microsoft buy SEGA. It should be on show at SEGA's annual show, the Game Jam, which has been scheduled for March (if you want to check it out). Sounds fun though :naughty:
Sniglefager
actually, I thought Virtua Fighter Quest was gonna be for Game Cube. Also, I really doubt Microsoft's gonna buy Sega, but then again, no one expected them to buy Rare, so...
BigCajones
Well they are definetely trying to buy them whether or not they will succeed that is a different matter. This is the the second time they are trying to buy a controlling share of SEGA (first time in spring 2001). Virtua Fighter Quest is most likely to be on more than one console, so it maybe on Gamecube. :)
Guest Musahi
Not maybe, is. Virtua Fighter Quest is an RPG/Adeventure appearing only on the Gamecube. I don't really care GCN can have it. I'll stick with my fighters. :P But VF4 : Evolution, looks great. I found some more stuff on IGN and it's amazing. I don't own VF4 so I will be getting Evolution. [Edit] *cough* I found a whole crap load of screens, so here you go. Sniglefager
those graphics don't compare to VF4. Oh, geebus, what does Sega think they're DOING?! Then again, this will sell a lot, just cause it's VF, so I have to give them credit for that
Semjaza
Strange. Game looks pretty much the same to me, although from what I'm told it has less of a jaggy and shimmering problem (these really hurt the original). I don't know how this looks worse, other than the shots being noticably low quality... But most Gamespot shots look this bad if they aren't from the company themselves. VF never was a big seller until VF4, I don't know that that will have much impact on its sales. I plan on buying it though, if it does look better like I'm told. And as for VF Quest, no one knows much of anything about it. It could be like Shenmue, it could be a simple RPG or it could be a fighter with a heavy story mode. Who knows yet.
