Hey i was reading about the game Dead To Rights and i personally am not sure whether to get it. The graphics look really good and the type of gameplay kinda reminds me of Max Payne. I also heard that it does get a little repetitive, has anyone else heard about that?
Apparently the gun battles go on for ages and there seems to be an never ending amount of enemies which is a kinda downside as it would be boring just killing loads of people but good in the sense that it gives you a challenge to destroy them.
So what do you all think about this and do you reckon i should get it when it comes out?

Well, if you have a magazine that has a preview on it, you probably have most of the information. Yes, I would probably compare it to Max Payne for four main reasons. One, is the fact that you take the role of a policeman who is a bit crooked, I think his name is Jack. Two, is the fact that the graphics and screenshots look very similar to Max Payne. Three, is that I believe it uses the 'Bullet Time' feature, a feature also used in Max Payne, so you can use various actions together. Four is that the storyline is plotted around revenge, Jack's father is killed, and he looks for the murderer, slaughtering anyone in his way.
The gun battles you speak of sound boring. I guess there is probably only a few ways of killing people, leaving the possibilities limited.
Before you buy it, I suggest you rent it, as this could be an addition to the plague of short games being struck upon our modern consoles. But, read the preview fully, and read this aswell, and make up your own opinion. Good Luck on your decision!

Max Payne ain't a policeman, but yeah I agree with the rest. I don't think the graphics look that great more like a PS2 game although some PS2 games have conjured up great graphics but on the whole not as good. Don't worry though everything is nice and bold with blood! From what I have seen the gameplay is like lock on and fire, mixed with hand-to-hand combat. Also I've seen some weird sub games. There is a strange dancing segment where you jab the buttons in time to make a pole dancer gyrate alluringly to distract some guards lol. You sometimes get to control your dog to find secret routes.

I haven't heard about these everlasting battles you have (seems to be quite a few men though), but I know there is a heck of alot of blood so I'm not sure if that statement is correct. Also I heard it came out in November in the UK, but it will most likely get delayed. I don't think this game will last you long so it may be best just renting it. I hear there are really long cutscenes which may put you off replaying it.

I do like the idea of having a dog with you it's original and should be good, but I hear it's easy to summon him when you may of wanted to do a slow-motion dive, so hopefully you can change the controls.
Well it's up to you at the end of the day ... could be interesting!

I have played it. Rent it before you buy it. To me, it looked more promising than it actually was. It had its fun moments but I think Max Payne was a little bit better in my opinion.

The dog thing was original but it really wasn't all that great. When you want him to take somone down you just lock onto them and hit the button. The dog comes out of no where and bites him and kills the guy. Then he disappears and you have to wait a while before you can use it again and thats basically it. You usually get shot to hell while doing it.

The diving/slow-mo system is better then Max Payne's in a few parts but not really al that awesome. Max Payne's is more realistic and higher up on the cool factor.

Its really a close call. I would say its worth a rental, and if you are happy with it buy it.

I have finally come to a decision that i am not very keen on getting this game now as i think Max Payne looks alot better and the idea of it being repetitive will be a disappointment. I think i may just rent this game if i can be bothered to because the mini games look quite funny and interesting but i am not going to buy the game just because of them.

I agree, never buy a game just for the sub games, very pointless. I think this game will be successful for recent X Box buys, people buying now will be attracted to it, because it has a good front cover! I guess that does attract people, and I think that for fans of Max Payne style game, it's a must, but it's just not for me. I prefer Stealth with some action!

I admit sometimes i do judge games by the cover but luckily i take good choices with the games i buy and i have had very few that i regret buying but i will try most games to see what they are like. With Dead to rights they could have spent more time on improving the graphics and the levels and apparently it is very repetitive so if they sorted that it would be a pretty good game to play. I also think the thing with the dog would be quite good but if you could like give him commands and say if you say attack he would attack them etc

Well, Dead to Rights was actually released beofre it's expected date, so I guess if they had taken more time, they could have cleared up the glitches, and dodgy effects that I've heard of. Has anyone played it yet?
