Creepy Anime Music....

Yu Yu Hakusho!

Have you ever watched an Anime and all you could think about is the music? Or is the music just plain wierd to you?
I like the music off of Yu Yu Hakusho (and I'm glad FUNImation kept the original music) but it sometimes sounds pretty creepy. The music is always playing in my head....well, there are demons and ghosts so what do you expect? But I do like the music, don't get me wrong. But does anyone else have that same feeling or experience?

Music to me is a big part of anime... Some of my favorite anime music is from Escaflowne. The music was done by Yoko Kanno, who also did Cowboy Bebop and others. Some of that music can be really creepy... Some of the creepiest ones were Chain, Charm, and machine Soldier. Chain is my favorite. ;)

Anyway, I really feel that music sets the mood an anime. It just perfects the whole scene, if done right. ^^;

I'd say that some creepy anime music is the song they play in the Cowboy Bebop movie, as Vincent is dragging Spike by his neck through the train. Ahhh, I love that music. It seems as though you really get to enjoy music a lot more when it's during an anime. ^_^

I really think that's true. I always make mental images from the anime and associate that with the songs playing, so when I listen to the music alone, I still have the mental images from the anime. ^-^ It adds even more feeling to the music... Also, I can remember feelings from the anime when I listen to the music, so again, it adds more to the music...

Did that make any sense? >.>

I have a trailer on my G-Gundam movie, it was Esclafowne. The music that it had in the trailer creeped me out. It keep playing back in my head, over and over again. I dunno if it was supposed to be so scary. It was like the stuff you here on the games, you know? When you face Sephiroth on Kingdom Hearts, that's what it sounds like. Though, when I listened to the music on Kingdom Hearts, it never really creeped me out. I guess Esclafowne is creepy itself. I haven't seen it yet, but when I get the money I'm going to get it. I saw it at my nearest anime store. So I might as well buy it. Anyway, that's the only anime so far that has the music to creep me out. But my brother said "just wait 'till you see Princess Mononoke". But that won't be for awhile....

Yeah, it's like, you'd never even listen to that song if it wasn't associated with anime. >.<

Another creepy song is the song that they rarely play in Trigun. The tech song, where something creepy is happening. Woah...best anime music/sound...ever. *_*

*nods* That's very, very true. lol. I've had mp3s on my computer that I didn't like until I actually saw the anime, or the part where that song was from, and then I suddenly fell in love with the songs. lol. Gravitation was like that... I grew very fond of them once I had seen the series. >.>

With the exception of the closing song, Hellsing has a very cool, creepy soundtrack. Well, it should be creepy, since it's a vampire anime.

Blood: The Last Vampire had a nice, creepy soundtrack as well.

Oooh, yeah, I need to watch that again. I can't remember the songs, but I'd imagine that they were pretty creepy, judging from the content.

Come to think of it, the ending theme of YYH gives me the creeps, sometimes, b/c after it goes off, my sister's standing right there leaning on my door! *Bunny gets scared and runs off....* Do you think it's the music YYH? :wigout:
She proably does like the ending theme...I do. I always sing it in Japanese and English all the time since it has been stuck in my head lately....0_o I love the opening and ending theme of YYH. I think they are great songs.

Guess who did the music for Yu Yu Hakusho?

A guy with the first name Yusuke!!!!

I'll get his last name later...I have to look at my DVD again.

There are a couple of Evangelion tracks that are fairly creepy, mostly 'Marking Time, Waiting for Death', 'The Day Tokyo-3 Stood Still' and 'Borderline Case'. Angel Attack II is also pretty creepy. It gives the episodes a rather ominous feeling and really adds something to it, I think. It's great listening to them, I think. Although 'Marking Time, Waiting for Death has made me want to turn the lights back on at night before...

The Ghost In The Shell theme was pretty creepy, too, I thought. Along with a lot of the themes in Mononoke.

Well, for anyone who has watched up to about episode 12-14 on .hack//SIGN...you'll know what I'm talking about here.

Toward the middle of the series, we start getting a LOT of "flashbacks" to the real world. These are usually very freaky -- imagine The Ring's video tape. It's just like that.

The screen is sort of fuzzy...and everything goes dead silent. And it's all black and white. When people talk, the screen goes black and you see bright red and blue text appear. It reminds me of The Ring a great deal (which is why it's so weird, because the rest of the anime is generally pretty bright and harmless...so when you get about halfway in, be prepared for a shock lol).

Anyway, on the last episode I watched, it had about four flashbacks in one ep. And it played this incredibly weird music...all sung in English. I have no idea what it was called, but it was really creepy. o_O

Most of the music from Serial Experiments Lain is creepy, and the songs from the Cyberia Mix album are as well. The music from Boogiepop Phantom Volume 1: Portraits from Memory during the train scene is creepy to me for some reason.

...but these are my favorite songs.

That does sound pretty freaky...and I know what you're talking about. I think I watched that once before....if I remember correctly. Come to think of it, almost ANY Japanese Anime that has songs sung in English freak me out....0_o
