Lacroix: Simple enough. We walk in there and kill everybody. What's the problem?

There was a moment's consternation, as everyone wondered whether they'd fallen in with a crazy demon who always happened to be a homicidal maniac. Something about his posture betrayed the smile that lit his silver features however, and everyone relaxed. A metallic chuckle emanated from Alqwerik.

Alqwerik: Do you really have to do that?

Lacroix: You tried it outside...

Alqwerik: That's different. I'm meant to. I'm meant to be a primitive.

Lacroix: Oh I don't know, I'd put your intelligence up against a few people in this room...

Alqwerik: Such as yourself?

Lacroix: You know I'm smarter than you.

Alqwerik: Yet you get into trouble more often.

The two walked outside, still bickering. There was a universal resigned shaking of the head in their wake.

Nepenthe: I wasn't hired for my stretegic planning. I was hired for my prowess in fighting. When you discover the secret to our success, let me know. I'll be tending my beast.

She bowed low, tipping her forehead with her staff, then quietly padded out. They looked at her like she was insane, then turned back. She was obviously serious, and could afford to be so. Once outside, she looked at Lacroix out of the corner of her eye, then opened her mouth and trilled long and loud.

A huge roar came from the distance, and Ganthor reapeared once more, claws extended, wings moving easily. He landed next to her silently and nuzzeled her outstretched hands. She chuckled and hugged him around the neck.

Lacroix: That's your ride?

Nepenthe: None better for me. This is Ganthor. Altacia equine.

The named bowed his head to Lacroix and looked at his mount.

Alqwerik: He doesn't talk.

Nepenthe: His vocal cords aren't quiet like yours....but he is smart enough to match wits with a human warrior. I'd rather be with him than anyone else.

Alqwerik glared at Lacroix balefully.

Alqwerik: Now why couldn't I be blessed with a companion like that?

Lacroix: You were. But then I got to know you. Don't worry, anyone else you end up with will act just the same. It's sad really. And bad for my reputation. I don't really have an attitude, you're just annoying.

Alqwerik muttered something under his breath. It was somewhat strange that a creature of that size could whisper. The few bits Lacroix did pick out were, of course, profanity. And some very strange insults Lacroix felt needed to be appropriated and used at a later date...

Alqwerik wandered off, sounding disgusted. Ganthor looked at him, head cocked sideways in some bizarre form of confusion. He then looked back to Nepenthe, then balefully at Lacroix. With his own disgusted sigh, Lacroix waved him off. Ganthor glared a moment longer, then bounded off after the annoyed shadow serpent.

Lacroix: Oh great. Now I've got two of them against me.

Nepenthe: Strange behaviour. Alqwerik really doesn't like you?

Lacroix: Of course he does. It's more along the nature of a friendly rivally that occasionally gets a little heated. Besides, we like it that way. Anyway, I'll go see make sure Alqwerik doesn't get too insistent on privacy.

Nepenthe: I doubt Ganthor would like that.

Lacroix: That's what I mean. Damn solitary bastard.

Nepenthe: I could have sworn I heard him say the same thing about you when he walked off....

Lacroix responded with a soft laugh, a strange, almost choking sound. Lythanoids, particularly not ones who had lived tortured lives like Lacroix, were not used to laughing. He walked off, following the trail of ever-increasing profanity, at ever-increasing volumes.

The female howl barked, and Ganthor came bounding back, a half dead deer in his mouth. Nepenthe chuckled and cracked it over the head quickly. The creature went limp, then was dropped to the ground. She smiled and pointed her left palm at it. She muttered something and the hide came off completely and disapeared.

Ganthor: ......ghhhhaa....

Nepenthe: Go ahead.

He opened his mouth and blasted it with a fireball. The deer's smoking remains were quickly consumed by the beast and the humanoid...the remains were disapeared as well...presumably to her elder sister, who could still sew blinded as she was.

Nepenthe sat back and polished her spear.....Ganthor chuckled and nipped her side playfully.

Axel: I say..we should get going right now.

Ryowa: To where, human. We do not even know where to go.

Axel: I do.

Nepenthe: I agree. We should get going. We will be safer in the dark. Evil humans as you say canno't see in the dark. That should give us and advantage.

Ryowa: I do not care which side humans are on. I just want to slaughter some like they slaughtered my-.

Ryowa stops.

Nepenthe: Who did the kill of yours, Ryowa?

Ryowa: Mind your buisness, she-elf! Now, if we should get going lets go. I will no longer wait.

Axel*half wispering mad*: For once, the mad elf is right. Lets go.

The group set off into the woods on ther long and hard quest for peace.

Sorry I wasn't on yesterday, I had some personal matters to attend to.

Axel suddenly got new orders from one of the guards. He called everyone back to his room.

Axel: I have just recieved new orders from the king. A weakness has been found in the line of the battle. We are to "sneak" around the battle area unseen. We will arrive here...

He shows a small map with various markers on it and pointed to one of them.

Ryowa: That's a decent way...

Axel: Yeah, it's quite far, but you should handle it. Anyways, we will attack this area, which if it works out, will give us the opprotunity to charge the enemy. That is all, we will begin in 1 hour. You are free until then...

Rhys walked out of the room thinking what she should do with the time she had to spare. She walked out of the castle and called her gold dragon Sagesse.

Are we going now? Sagesse asked in Rhys' head.

Rhys: No, no we are to wait an hour before we head out so rest my dear Sagesse.

Are you sure about this Rhys. I know how much you don't like to fight anyone.

Rhys: Yeah I'm sure! I want to help...I don't want evil to come to our forest and since I'm the only one from the clan here...

What about Liam? Why don't you just send him here?

Rhys: No I don't want to endanger the lives of others in our Clan.

Your Mother didn't want you to be endangered... Sagesse said looking towards her master.

Rhys: Yes but that does not matter now...

Hotsuma shines his blade and polishes his shurikens while leaning next to Red Eyes.Red Eyes nudges Hotsuma with his head signaling for him to take him for a ride.

Hotsuma: You should rest.

Red Eyes blows a bit of fire at Hotsuma so he could understand he wanted to get a little exercise before their trip.

Hotsuma: Fine then.Where to my friend?

Hotsuma hops on Red Eyes and flys high into the sky wind rushing through his old grey hair. But while Hotsuma flys he thinks about his clan. How most of them died.He never should have gotten involved. It was all his fault. The two land and Hotsuma jumps off while Red Eyes flys back into the air.

Ravwrin sighed. She had left the room without anyone noticing. Rouk had appeared behind her and rested her muzzle softly on her friend's shoulder.

Should we find a little something to eat? I am hungry enough to eat a gryphon. Rouk said telepathically with a sight rumble from her chest.

Ravwrin- I know my friend *laughs* you could. But would you settle for a large rabbit or two?

I would. But i would have liked a stag or a doe. Rouk said poutily.

Ravwrin- *sternly* You might find one, but only if it agrees to become your feast.

Fine. But you know how they react. I really like the chase.

Ravin- We are not on our lands anymore. We have to show respect to the animals here.

The dryphon nodded and crouched down. Ravwrin hopped lightly to her back and layed down. She fastened the clasps to the dryphon's armor from her own Fox Wear so she would not fall off. With a light chirp given from Ravwrin the dryphon jumped into the air.

Flying low the dryphon spotted an old stag limping in the forest below. The dryphon gave a screech like an eagle and dropped down into the thicket below. The stag did not try to run but waited for Rouk to land. Ravwrin undid the clasps in one swift flick and hopped off. Rouk maked soft clicks and chirps that seemed to be directed to the stag. It walked up to the dryphon and seemed to nod in reply. in one swift movement the dryphon and snapped the stags neck, giving it a quick and painless death.

Nepenthe quietly continued to polish her spear...wishing she had the authority to smack that bastard in the chops. She-elf indeed. Yeah right. Ganthor nuzzeled her, passing on his calm adittude. She sighed and leaned back. He was right of course. No matter how incorrect that last statement had been, she needed to remain calm if she was to live. Ganthor looked into her eyes and sent. She smiled.

"Do you think Lacroix is trustworthy?"

"Indeed Ganthor. Lethe would've warned me."

"She can only see hearts, not futures."

Nepenthe looked into the night. Then looked back at him.

"She sees enough."

Coming back to the castle no one greeted Ravwrin, as she had expected. Everyone was getting ready to move out and would be busy for a little while longer. Ravwrin sighed as she jumped off Rouk's back.

Ravwrin- Why is it that I am the one to help these people?

Because you volunteered. Rouk replied and nuzzled her friend's face.

Ravwrin- Why is it that you are always right?

I dunno. Mabye because I have such a good memory? Rouk replied with a smirk only a dryphon could muster.

Ravwrin- *pats her friend's muzzle* I know.

A sound soon drew Ravwrin from her friend. She soon was in a fighting stance her staff at ready.

OOC: Oh yeah, I'm always the untrustworthy turncoat.... Really, I'm hurt.... Or willing to take advantage. Depends on how I'm feeling.

Lacroix sat, on a rocky crag far from the castle. The moon was before him, a dread lake underneath. It was cold, dark, and filled with fell creatures. That lake claimed all that entered it, one way or another. Many times, Lacroix had sat, watching the night grow, wither and die around him. Many times, he considered allowing himself respite. Release. The fall. The lake could destroy him. It would end his existence. Which would be a respite not only for him, but any he crossed paths with. He thought upon those he had earlier met. Surely, they were doing something important. Surely, they would need every advantage. They would need to be free of petty tensions, divided loyalties. They would need to act as a group. They would need to be able to trust each other. Yet he knew he couldn't stay uninvolved. The siren call of death would draw him in.

That decided it. Lacroix rose, silently farewelling the moon. He smiled, and leant forward.

He graceful dive was interrupted about 20 metres down. Lacroix opened his eyes, as talons closed around his arm. He jerked once, then hung there, wondering why he had done that. Before he even looked up, he knew Alqwerik had caught him. At least, judging from the familar muttering.

Set down upon the crag once again, Lacroix knelt, again what had possessed him to do that. Alqwerik alighted behind him, reproachful.

Alqwerik: You are chaotic, but not as evil as you fear.

Lacroix: Still, my presence is a catalyst for strife. Especially among those who stay near me for an extended period.

Alqwerik: You think I don't know that? I know better than anyone else. You wear people down too fast. You're too damn independant. You seem to go out of your way to make things difficult for everyone else, for reason that are incomprehensible to anyone but you. Even I don't understand most of what you do.

Lacroix: Exactly. Can they afford that?

Alqwerik: They'll have to. You don't have anything else you'd rather do, and you won't stay away. I know you that well.

Lacroix rose and mounted. Alqwerik lifted off the ground, and Lacroix revelled in the sheer brillane of the moon, the soft whisper of the night's breeze.

The altacia equine looked up suddenly, ears twitching. His companion immedaitly swung her spear on and twisted the halter straps around his face. With a swift leap, she landed on his shoulders, just above the scapula and wing joints, and leaned forward. In one quick clap of his wings, Ganthor took to the skies, tracing the shadow across the moon. Nepenthe smiled and eased back, the reins resting in her hands. If it was who she thought it was, there would be no problems.

He howl barked to the night creatures, and a variety of trills, whistles, barks, and howls answered him. Nepenthe harmonized with her own signature trill, and everything was silent.

Nepenthe: ...we've got a few unhappy beasts tonight...

Ganthor: They sense darkness descending.

Nepenthe: ...well, come on. Let's go talk to it's incarnation.

Rhys sighed and started to walk back to the castle. She left Sagesse outside knowing that she preferred the night air. She walked in quietly and saw Ravwrin and her companion off to the side. Ravwin heard her coming and turned to face her.

Rhys: Why do you look so sad?

Ravwin and her companion stared at Rhys for a second.
Ravwin: It seems that no one wants me here.

Rhys: Don't say that I'm sure they want you here. They want all the help they can get.

Ravwin: I'm not so sure. They seem to ignore me.

Rhys: They've all got their own problems. They're thinking about the upcoming battle. They're not ignoring you.

Ravwin: I guess...

Ravwrin looked at Rhys. She sat back on her haunches and looked at her.

Ravwrin- I wanted to help, but I seem to be in the way. And anyway, I really don't think I am as good of a fighter as those who have 2 legs.

Rhys looked at Ravwrin for a moment. She shook her head.

Rhys- Anyone can fight, but only that person knows their potential.

I held up a bowl of nectar to my dear friend. He drank deeply and made a small grunt of pleasure.

Ryan- "I know. I'm nervous too. We will win." Yuroo's eyes smiled and he straightened up on his perch.

Axel- "This beast yours?" I turned my head to see Axel striding into the doorway. I nodded.

Ryan- "Yes. This is my Gigantor Moth. Yuroo this is Axel." Yuroo made a small buzz and flapped his wings a little. "Hold you breath for a second Axel. The dust from his wings can damage your lungs." Axel inhaled sharply untill Yuroo stopped flapping. "I've built up a defence against it after being with him for so many years." Axel let out his breath just as sharply as he took it in.

Axel- "Quite a companion. Will he do it again?"

Ryan- "He shouldn't. I accept you. He will soon." Axel nodded. I held up the bowl of nectar again. He bent down and drank, his large yellow eyes never leaving Axel. "Now... What of this weakness the King has found."

Sorry again, am I always late???

Axel: Everybody! Come here! 45 minutes have passed! It is time to begin our quick journey, the battle is moving closer to the castle, meaning that we have less distance to travel. Begin your final preparations! We leave in three!

Ryowa: I have to wait three more minutes? Grrr... why can't we just charge them.

Ravwrin: We should not underestimate our foe.

Nepenthe: Yes, that's right, we should--

Ryowa: WHY DOES EVERYBODY HAVE TO GANG UP ON ME???!!!

The room goes silent

Ravwrin glares at Ryowa.

Ravwrin- We do not gang up on you. Ignorance against the enemy can get you killed.

Ryowa- The enemy needs attacked and nothing changes that. We should leave now and take them.

Ravwrin- And get yourself and anyone that follows you killed. You need to lear....

Axel- Time to go! You two can stop fighting now and leave some of your anger for the battle.

Axel unleashed his dragon again. All the others readied their beasts as well.

Ryowa: I don't understand how it can be so hard if we have our beasts...

Axel: Look around, we are surrounded by mountains, we are sure to get caught...

Ryowa: Then what will we do, and what do you need you dragon for?

Axel: As another aide for the war. We will go by the underground cave behind the castle. That cave leads just about everywhere.

Axel gets back to the room, he announces that this is the time, they begin their journey...

Rhys shuddered at the thought of going underground. She saw that Ravwrin was looking at her curiously.

Ravwrin: What is wrong?

Rhys: I do not like being confined in stone for long. The thought of being underground chills me.

Ravwrin: Do not worry I'm sure we'll not be in there long. I am not so found of the underground myself.

Rhys nodded and looked to Sagesse. She moved from one foot to the other uneasily sharing the same thoughts as Rhys.

I do not want to go underground Rhys. Sagesse said nervously.

Rhys: You'll be fine.

Ravwrin: What you say?

Rhys: I was just talking to my dragon.

I do not want to go underground RHYS!! Sagesse roared and stomped knocking some people off their feet.

Axel: Calm that dragon down now!

Rhys walked up to Sagesse and wispered to her.
Rhys: I know you don't like the underground but please do this for me.

Sagesse suddenly calmed down and looked at Rhys with her forest green eyes.
Alright Rhys.

Ganthor smiled to himself. Dragon scared of going underground? ....it could be worse. They could be taking the paths of the dark Eternals. He nuzzled his face into Nepenthe's arms and she slid them around his neck, trilling softly. The two stood still until the others were finally ready to go. When Axel nodded, she felt along the wingjoints of her beast, then slowly slid onto his shoulders, avoiding the scapulae neatly. He smiled, showing all of his teeth, and reared to his hind legs, then bucked a few times to get it out of his system. Nepenthe clung as close as a tick and laughed to herself. Still a bronco at heart.

She held his braided leather reins tightly, ready to depart.

Lacroix: Scared?

Nepenthe: A daughter of Moonwings? Scared? Never.

Lacroix: ...so you're her dark spawn.

Nepenthe: I have the honor.

She smiled and tipped her forehead with three fingers...

Im sorry I havent posted in a long time. Rhis has been a very long week for me. I had my Christmas on Tuesday..which was fun but lets get back to the story.

Ryowa rode on back of Lightning aiming arrows at the back of Axels's head with Nepenthe keeping one eye and one ear on him, staring. He stared back. It was as thou they wanted to jump up any second and beat the living hell out of each other.

Axel: We are approaching the end of the tunnel soon. Everybody, be on your best guard.

Ryowa pulled his arrow back but did not let go. Keeping one eye on the tunnel ahead of him and one on Nepenthe. As light came of the sun came nearer and nearer, everybody tightened the grip on their weapons

They were free, right behind the army. Ryowa had the first shot at a soldier, this distracted the enemy and our army charged them, killing many.

Axel: Good job Ryowa!

Ryowa kept silent, focusing on his next arrow. Axel led the charge of true, physical attacks, also killing many. This war was in the bag. But, there was something they didn't see, something they should shed a tear of worry about...
