Ganthor roared, the spirit of battle upon him...eyes glazed over in red. His mistress was in a similar position, eyes glittering, spear humming and pulsing. One soldier ventured far too near the two batle crazed warriors, and was crushed with a knock on the head, and three claws through the chest.

Nepenthe laughed, the bloodlust heavy on her mind. The two continued their path of destruction, moving quickly through the ranks....

Rhys came out of the tunnel and noticed that almost everybody had started fighting already. She took the bow from her shoulder and notched a arrow. She hesitated as she watched the battle before her.

Oh what am I doing? I don't like to fight. Rhys thought.

You're doing what you have to do Rhys. These soldiers aren't innocent people. They will kill you if you don't kill them! Sagesse said coming up behind her.

Rhys nodded and paled visibly but she shot the arrow into the frenzy of soldiers. One soldier immediately clutched at his chest and was dead before he hit the ground. Sagesse gave a roar and charged into the battle using her teeth and claws to rip her enemies apart.

Ravwrin gave a yelp and a war cry and notched an arrow. Rouk bellowed loud enough to stop several of the enemy in their tracks.

Ravwrin- Now my friend.

Rouk launched herself at the foe and crushed two of them. She snapped at another taking off his arm. Ravwrin let loose several arrows and each found their mark.

A cold chill suddenly ran through Ravwrin. She looked over her shoulder to see a shadow creeping up upon the small war band.

Ganthor roared and reared up on his hind legs, Nepenthe grabbed the reins and wheeled him around, only to come face to face with the shadow. Immediatly, the both of them drew back in the air and hovered. This was obviously bad news....and the bloodlust was quick to fade. She trilled to herself, and Ganthor sent her a quick thought.

"Tell the others."

"They can not hear."

"What about Lacroix?"

She turned her face down, the shadow was still, and the others were quickly noticing and waiting..... It stared down at them, unmoving and cold. Nepenthe sat on Ganthor's moving back and crossed her staff over her chest, forming the bio shield around them.

She looked up, still all she could see was the dark figure. Ryowa saw it too, he shot it in the head, it didn't even flinch. It lowered itself to strike, Axel saw it, he suddenly realized that it was an ogre, oddly large, even for an ogre. It would be stupid to attack, so he killed the soldiers while keeping an eye on it...

Ryowa kept shooting the beast not giving up until it was dead.

Axel: Ryowa stop wasing your arrows.

Ryowa: Shut up, human. Like you know anything about elf arrows.

Ryowa shot the ogre into the eyeball so it was blind. Next, he shot it into its groin. Finally, he shot the monster into the neck, killing it instantly. The group kept fighting until they killed the whole army. But, something didn't feel right. It was, too easy. They hear a shriek in the sky. It was a griffyn with an elf riding on its back.

Elf: Sire, I have a letter for you.

Ryowa: A letter? What about?

Elf: I do not know...

Ryowa read the letter to himself.

Axel: What does it say,Ryowa?

Nepenthe: ....what a fool.

Lacroix: How do you figure?

Nepenthe: This particlar species of beast regenerate. They're all troll...

Ganthor: ....

He whistled appreciatively and reared back a pace.

We have sent a unit to keep an eye on you during your adventure. As you may have guessed, you job is not complete, we are trouble too. We'd like to have your services help us as well.
-King Garmeicia

Ryowa: We are not done, we cannot part home yet...

Axel: Of course not, there are other nations that need our aid.

Ryowa: Well, my king is in trouble, we have sent so many troops to help other nations, that we have few forces for ourselves...

Axel: I see... Don't worry, we will help you.

Nepenthe walks up

Nepenthe: I'm not sure if I agree to that offer...

Ryowa: Heh, fine, that's your decision, I have enough forces to take down that army!

Nepenthe: Do you want me to?

Axel: That's fine with--

Ryowa: --Shut it Ax! Yes, its ok by me. You may come if you want to...

Nepenthe: Hah! Of course you'd say yes...

Axel: Can we stop bickering and move on?!

She turned to go, but by then it was to late. The beast rose to his feet once more, eye regenerated, body whole and firm. Ganthor hissed and rose into the air. Nepenthe scowled. It had gone through it's phases faster than possible. Lacroix sighed and pulled out his own weapon. The female sorceress pointed her spear at it and muttered something.....until her words reberverated through the entire area....nearly deafening some.

Nepenthe: Undalu
Garana,
Tensore,
LIBERTINE!!

A huge sevenpointed star formed around the point and hurtled towards the beast, spinning like a shuriken. Nepenthe growled and added her power to it as it increased in it's speed. Ganthor roared and shot his own energy attack in it's wake...

Rhys watched in horror as she saw the beast regenerate itself. She saw Nepenthe fire some magic at the beast and her companion jump at it but still Rhys was frozen in place.

Go and help them Rhys. Sagesse said appearing beside her.

Rhys: What am I going to do? My arrows won't hurt that thing. The only thing that hurt that kind of creature would be fire...Sagesse you can breath fire can't you?

No I am not that kind of dragon. Sagesse said sadly. What about Axel's dragon?

Rhys: I'm not sure but I better tell him before the beast kills us all!

Rhys ran to Axel firing arrows just to give them a little time though it seemed as though Nepenthe's companion was doing fine without the help.

Ravwrin looked kup and growled. This was really gonna be harder than anyone thought.

Ravwrin: Axel1 What do we do now? Shoot fire at it?

Axel: That is the plan!

Ravwrin watched as the creature loomed ever closer.

The magic halted, and Ganthor wheeled around, waiting for the smoke to clear. It did. And the both of them cursed in drow. It was still alive....the Libertine shuriken had gone into it's chest, but that didn't mean anything.....she missed the heart, and the attack from Ganthor had only dropped his defenses ever so slightly.

Lacroix: Oh dear...

He had that look on his face again. The half sarcastic, half mysteriuos look she had gotten used to. She smiled at him and did a mock cursty. Ganthor grinned, showing all of his teeth, and dipped his wings in a false tribute.

Nepenthe: If convential and magical attacks won't work....then what do you propose?

Lacroix: Good question...I think I know.

"Then what, my dear Lacroix...should we do? Use your divine knowledge and save us."

Nepenthe jerked on the hatler warningly, and he stopped. She hissed through her teeth and her thoughts went back to her mother. If she was summoned, the battle would be over before anyone could move. But she would never willingly do anything for her darker child.

Lacroix looked around, a bored, tired look on his face.

Lacroix: No, fire won't work either by the way. I will however, be nice enough to kick this thing's *** for you all.

Completely unconcerned, Lacroix walked towards the ogre like beast, swearing to himself. He spoke as he did so.

Lacroix: Now, regenerating creatures such as this one, which, by the way, doesn't regenerate naturally, as the very creature is an abomination, draws energy from whatever wounded it. So you stick an arrow in it, the energy in the arrow heals it. From the kinetic, to auric inside it. Fire will heal it especially fast. Because fire is pure energy. It's the second fastest way to heal it. The fastest way to heal it would be to punch it a lot. Life energy. Now...

By this time, Lacroix was about three feet in front of the creature. It interrupted his dialog with a loud roar. He looked up at it. It was nearly twice his height, but he was undaunted. In fact, he still seemed bored.

Lacroix: Yeah? Well **** you!

Lacroix puncuated this sudden outburst with a sharp strike. The claws on his upper right arm dug into the solar plexus of the beast, reached all the way in, and grabbed. It was rather strange. Lacroix's arm, long as it was, was buried almost to the shoulder. The ogrething looked down at him, chuckling for a moment. It gathered it's scattered mental resources, in order to draw energy from Lacroix to heal itself. Which of course, was a mistake. The creature shuddered once, then collapsed, rapidly decaying. Lacroix turned and walked back. There was no blood on his arm, or anywhere else on his body.

Lacroix: I however, am somewhat dead. In fact, I'm very dead. But it didn't know that. So it drew energy from me. Death energy. Which, as you saw, wasn't exactly conducive to a long life. Now, shall we continue?

Alqwerik: You really are an insufferable smug bastard you know?

Lacroix: Yes, and I'm making sure everyone else does to.

In the stunned silence of the aftermath, hollow laughter was heard coming from above him. A slightly sarcastic smile on her face, and heavy lidded eyes.....her hands clapping together mockingly. Lacroix bowed low and smiled back.

Ganthor landed in a flurry of dust and smoke, then folded his wings, revealing Nepenthe once more.

Nepenthe: ....Most impressive.... Congratulations on your completely insane behavior and cocky demeanor.

Lacroix: Any time.

Alqwerik: I'm starting to like this human....

A vein in Nepenthe's face twitched, and she clenched her fists. Her breath came in gasps and the blood in her face rushed blue.

Nepenthe: What did you just say?

Ganthor: Stop drop and roll Alqwerik....save yourself.

Lacroix: What's wrong? Are you in denial?

Nepenthe: ....How dare you compare me to one of them.......nothing could be further from the truth. Did I call you a lizard?!?

Lacroix shook his head, and let forth a strange sound. Almost like he was choking. It was a few moments before it was realised he was actually laughing. (As a curiousity, I actually laugh like I'm choking. It's bizarre) Which, of course, did nothing for Nepenthe's disposition. Behind him, Ganthor took a few prudent steps back. Nepenthe looked to Alqwerik, then to Lacroix, then back.

Lacroix: Seems you do needle somewhat easily.

Nepenthe: I wasn't talking to you.

Alqwerik: I don't think he was either. I mean, I could be wrong, but hey.

Lacroix: You normally are, but I'm fairly certain you're right this time. Much as it pains me to admit it.

Alqwerik: Well then. That poses an interesting question. If you weren't talking to you, who were you talking to?

Lacroix: Her I think?

Alqwerik: Her?

Lacroix gestured towards Nepenthe.

Lacroix: You know? The uptight chick who's in denial about being human?

Alqwerik: Oh, her. I guess that would make sense.

As one, they turned, and somehow, despite their unreadable features, there was an obvious half amused, half baiting, almost defiantly bored, expression about them both. They both were quite interested. The reaction they got was bound to be good.

Nepenthe clenched her teeth together....the grinding noise audible. With cramped steps, she walked right up to him and slashed her wrist. Bright blue blood poured out onto the ground, and she passed her hand over it. The flesh knit back together swiftly, and she smiled at him.

Nepenthe: Denial? ...one of the things that sets me apart from humans is my lack of oxygen. If I needed it, I would be human.

Lacroix: Was this a family thing?

Nepenthe: It's a Sacred Triune thing.

She smiled at him and pointed at her jagged ears.....

Lacroix directed a slow, lazy glance towards the area she indicated. That done, he swept his eyes up and down her body, till she shifted uncomfortably. In a slow, amused drawl, he started to speak.

Lacroix: You know...you should probably get them checked. I mean, I know this great mage down in....

No-one ever found out where that mage was. Nepenthe interrupted, sharply, and Lacroix couldn't speak through muffled laughter.

Nepenthe: You idiotic, uncultured, uneducated imbecilic, gods-forsaken, spawn of malacophilous newts! Do you have the slightest idea of what I'm talking about?

Lacroix drew himself up as if affronted. With an a dandyish gesture, he spoke in a scholarly, yet effeminate voice.

Lacroix: I'll have you know, young lass, I was educated by the finest of tutors....

It was too much. Everyone, even those who had earlier not been paying attention, burst out in laughter. The rest of Nepenthe's tirade was buried under it. Lacroix concealed a sly smile, then remounted Alqwerik, whistling the yet to be written immortal classic "Take A Walk On The Wild Side" to himself.

Ganthor swept her up onto his back with one wing and she allowed him to baby her. But not for long. As soon as he wasn't looking, she pointed her fingers at him from under Ganthor's neck, and whispered a few well chosen words.

There was a large explosion of purple light, and then Lacroix found himself covered in huge purple blossoms. Nepenthe immediatly put her hands behind her back and whistled a simple tune....ears perked fully.

Nepenthe: Awwww, how cute! Little four armed maniac is playing dress up with pretty flowers!

This time, the object of the group's laughter switched from her to him, and she took the oppertunity to wing upwards, out of range. Then she reclined on his back, and waited for the fireworks to start.

Ravwrin watched all of this with mild amuse ment. She had come here to protect the land and not to get into any squables. She sighed heavily and turned to Rouk.

Ravwrin- In the mood for a snack?

Rouk's ears perked up quite a bit. If you are the one who finds it, yep.

With that Ravwrin hopped onto her friends back and quickly snapped up. Rouk to a running leap through the crowd and jumped into the air.

Nepenthe however, was to be disappointed. Lacroix absently picked one of the blossoms up, twirling it through his fingers as he examined it. Then he started speaking in his elegant, arrogant drawl that Nepenthe just knew was designed to bait her.

Lacroix: You know, this flower has some very interesting properties.

He picked a few more of the blossoms, and crushed them in his hands. He stood up, and lightly leapt over to Ganthor. Ganthor made a few sounds of disapproval, but righted himself. Lacroix absently rubbed his hands over Nepenthe's confused face for a few moments, before leaping back to Alqwerik. Nepenthe turned to everyone else, wondering what Lacroix had done. At least, she was wondering, until someone, she didn't quite see who muttered...

"I'm almost tempted to ask her how much for a good time"

Nepenthe looked back to Lacroix, glaring daggers. Lacroix grinned, and held up his hand. It was stained purple. Nepenthe cursed, and tried to wipe the makeshift rouge off her face.

Lacroix: You'll never get any clients if you smudge it you know...

She silently begged Ochkik Haddah to swallow her soul right then and there....then relaxed, and willed her golden colored skin to come back to her. Almost immediatly, the purple vanished into an amber haze, and her ears grew out into the 3 inch wings she had been born with. Once in her true state, she calmly tapped her talons against the balls of her hands and smiled at Lacroix.

Nepenthe: There are only two clients I would spread my legs for in this world Lacroix....and you are not one of them.

Ganthor: I would say who they are....but then I would be speared....

Lacroix: Oh really.....care to share?

Nepenthe: Well, for one, there's Ganthor here....he can take a humanoid form, and then there's Ochkik Haddah, but you wouldn't know about Him....would you?

She smirked at him, hands on her hips....a half smile forming on her face.

Lacroix: Why would the Lord of Nightmares spend time with you?

Nepenthe: Cause....he's my foster dad.

Lacroix: Let's see...we have here comparitive beastiality, and comparative incest. Interesting. Not exactly my perversions, but I respect them nevertheless. Interesting that you refer to them as "clients" though...

Nepenthe didn't say anything. Ganthor didn't say anything. Everyone else was too startled to talk. Lacroix acknowledged that, and supposed he'd have to fill in the gap himself.

Lacroix: Just back to an earlier comment though, I don't think you'd be up to me.

Nepenthe raised an eyebrow.

Nepenthe: Ganthor here, and Ochkik Haddad... You think you're up to it?

Lacroix: I'm a lythanoid. Ever had sex in a volcano?

Nepenthe: Have you?

Lacroix: I'm a lythanoid. It's our favourite place to. Besides, with an internal temperature that is basically an inferno, a Lythanoid's internal fluids, whatever they may be, are somewhat....painful, for other races.

Nepenthe: Must make for an interesting time....

Lacroix: I'd give you the details, but there are young, impressionable minds here....

She calmly leapt off Ganthor's back and used her Itsari skills to come up behind him...faster than the elf, or human, eye could follow. She bent down and whispered something into his ear. Then she calmly disapeared and reapeared on Ganthor's neck.

"I should've really said something worse to him...."

"What did you say Neth?"

"I won't tell. You'd want to eat him."

"Please?"

"No. Stop pestering me, or you'll be sleeping alone for a month."

Lacroix looked slightly startled for a moment, then intrigued, then outright amused. He looked over, and touched his fingers to his forehead, before waving them off in an ironic salute that was a perfect reflection of Lacroix's sardonicly amused manner.

Alqwerik's long neck twisted around, looking at the still smiling Lythanoid.

Alqwerik: Do I want to know?

Lacroix: Probably not. You'd want to eat her.

Alqwerik: No further questions....

Lacroix: Oh? Going soft on me? You're familiar with Lythanoid perversions, anything another race could come up with shouldn't phase you.

Alqwerik: But to me, they aren't perversions remember. And they aren't to you either.

Lacroix: I know, but it's a useful term.

Alqwerik: I think I'll eat you instead....

The group slowly landed their steeds and watched the area around them carefully [because I have no idea what's going on with this whole army thing]. True to her usual self, Nepenthe pulled the halter from Ganthor's muzzle and he flexed his jaw. Then after, he went down on his stomach and curled up....prepared to restore his sprit essence through sleep. Nepenthe sighed and tucked herself into his thick shaggy mane. Lacroix watched her warrily.

She appeared to be extremely calm on the outside, almost asleep....but her whole body gave off that heady scent of both pheremones and roses. It was almost like they were directed at Lacroix alone...but it wasn't possible.

"Stop it Neth."

The Laporin grinned at Ganthor and curled up tighter.
