has anyone noticed that the GBA died out?

Hmm. Two months?

GBA is just about as popular now as when it came out. The hardware sales numbers are incredibly high. With stuff like Zelda, Kirby and Yoshi's Island coming out in recent months (that's just from Nintendo itself... I could list many more), I don't know how anyone can complain.

I kind of expect handheld games to be shorter. I don't have the chance to play a 40 hour RPG on a portable system.

I'm happy with my GBA, and I'd probably consider it the best system out right now. Exciting depends on the person I guess, and what games it is you are playing.

Died out?? Pfff...

More people like the GBA, than most other systems... It's like carrying around a portable SNES....

I'm sure that i'll be playing my GBA for long time, with all the great games and such.

Like Semjaza said, the GBA is about as far from being dead as it can get. I saw some sales figures a while ago, and the GBA was selling more systems than any of the three home consoles. So, yeah, the GBA is alive and well, and it's actually my favorite system, too.

There are reasons why GBA games are shorter than home console games, though. The biggest of which is space, I think. I mean, really, you're just not going to get nearly as much in one of those GBA cartridges as you are on a DVD. Heck, I just think it's pretty cool that one of those tiny little GBA cartridges can actually hold more than a SNES cartridge, which is probably over four times as big.

As for the games not being exciting... Have you actually played any of the newer GBA games? Play Zelda: A Link to the Past, Metroid Fusion, Kirby, Super Mario World, Yoshi's Island, Castlevania, and others and tell me they aren't exciting. Personally, I think the GBA has a lot of the best games out right now.

Yep and recently, GBA built up something like a 33% share of the home console business.

So that's a third of the industry...and then you add GameCube. I think Nintendo controls a total of about 46% or something.

Anyway, yeah...remember also that when Pokemon came out on GBA the unit sold over 1 million units in ten days. This is a year after release.

So yeah, GBA is alive and kicking. ~_^

Actually, GBA kind of died down and went back again, I think.
It really matters on what games they have.
A lot of Yu-Gi-Oh! fans have bought a GBA just because there are 2 YGO games out for GBA.
And there's a LOT of YGO fans out there.....0_o
The DBZ game, the Legacy of Goku was also pretty big for DBZ fans....that game sold pretty quick.
The Zelda games for GBA (not very many, from what my friend tells me) are doing quite nicely too....
But like James said, GBA is doing fine, and is "alive and kicking."
It just depends on the games.
I'm sure if they made a Yu Yu Hakusho game for GBA (VERY unlikely) I would be the first to buy a GBA (I don't have one yet).

The GBA have definetely not died out far from it as loads of people I presume got one for Christmas and loads of good games are heading its way. I myself can't wait for Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire, Zelda: A link to the past, Golden Sun: the lost age, etc to be released in England.

It ain't dead, but at the moment I play my other consoles that I got loads of games for until I wear them all out. Soon I will link my GBA to my Gamecube maybe I will play more often then on the big screen. Whenever I go out to eat or go on holiday it just saves me from boredom though, such a good console for its size and the cartidges storing all that memory is amazing. I can't wait to see what the next handheld console will be like, because I don't know how they will top this it would be like 'handheld heaven'!

Great console .... Grant :demon:
